Chapter 108 - KAWAII WAIFU Raid
The bar’s ceiling exploded in a thunderous crash, raining down chunks of plaster and twisted metal as three massive Frame Units descended into the chaos below. Towering over the crowd, these colossal humanoid machines gleamed under the strobe lights, each armed with standard-issue beam rifles and glowing light shields. Their weapons swept menacingly across the dance floor, targeting every direction with mechanical precision.
Without warning, one of the Frames hurled a flashbang into the center of the room. The device detonated in a burst of white-hot light and deafening sound, stunning the entire bar into a brief, disoriented silence.
“Freeze! We are KAWAII! This establishment is now under our jurisdiction!” boomed a cybernetic voice from the pink-and-white Frame Unit at the front—unmistakably Agent Feena Arcaliburn, her design sleek yet imposing as always. I just hope she's not drunk today.
Outside, the rising wail of sirens pierced the night air, a clear signal that the perimeter had been sealed. But inside, the atmosphere had already descended into raw panic. Screams tore through the room as patrons scattered in every direction—women shrieking, men shoving past one another in blind terror. The bar’s security team drew their pistols and opened fire, desperate to hold their ground, but the bullets clinked uselessly against the thick alloy armor of the KAWAII WAIFUs.
Amid the pandemonium, I slapped a hand onto Neil’s shoulder and broke into a sprint, clutching the million-dollar briefcase tight to my chest. Neil immediately reached for Fei, grabbing her wrist and pulling her into motion.
“Let’s go, Fei!” Neil shouted over the chaos.
“B-but—” Fei faltered, her eyes wide with confusion, her body frozen in hesitation.
Neil looked back and gave a reassuring smile. “I recorded what Ismail said. You’re free from the obligations of the NTR.”
At that moment, Fei smiled through trembling lips, but tears spilled freely down her cheeks. The weight of everything—freedom, fear, relief—pressed into that fragile expression. She wiped her eyes quickly, took a breath to steady herself, and let Neil pull her forward into the storm.
“Fucking hell!” Ismail’s voice erupted like a bomb. His crimson eyes flared with an unnatural glow, blazing with fury and purpose. In the next instant, crackling lines of red cybernetic code surged outward from his pupils, racing across his skin like veins of living fire. The energy coursed downward, seeping into the floor beneath his boots as if the very building had become an extension of his will.
Then, with a seismic rumble, four gargantuan gatling guns materialized at the four corners of the establishment—each one as massive as a city bus, all bristling with rotating barrels and lethal intent. Without pause, the weapons locked onto the KAWAII WAIFUs and unleashed a roaring storm of gunfire, the sound like a thousand jackhammers tearing into metal.
“Watch out!” one of the KAWAII Agents shouted. The Frame Units immediately repositioned, snapping up their glowing light shields to absorb the hail of bullets, the shimmering energy barriers crackling under the sheer volume of fire.
And then, the chaos escalated.
Ismail’s personal bodyguards—tall, commanding women with fierce eyes—raised their morphers high into the air.
“Frame Unit, Awaken!” they roared in unison, voices filled with vengeance and pride. Their bodies erupted in radiant pulses of light and nano-technology, morphing in a flash into hulking Frame Units of their own. These were the NTR WAIFUs—sleek, deadly, and relentless.
With the roar of titans, they surged into battle, colliding with the KAWAII WAIFUs in a clash of steel, sparks, and searing energy. The bar transformed into a warzone of towering mechs, their strikes shattering walls, their footfalls cratering the floor. Pandemonium reigned, and the once-sleek establishment now trembled beneath the fury of colliding ideologies—and giant robots.
Amid the maelstrom of chaos, I pushed forward—dodging through the throng of panicked bodies, weaving past choking clouds of gunpowder smoke, and ducking beneath flying shrapnel and torn metal plates from damaged Frame Units. My heart pounded like a war drum. I was getting swept up by the flood of people, losing sight of Neil and Fei in the madness. But somehow, we were still alive. We had escaped Ismail’s grip—at least for now. The only problem was... I had no idea where the exit was.
“Fei! Where’s the exit?!” I shouted, my voice barely piercing the roar of gunfire, collapsing metal, and screaming civilians.
“Straight ahead! Keep going!” Fei called back, pointing through the haze.
I looked up, blinking through smoke and dust, and finally spotted the glowing red emergency exit sign in the distance. It flickered like salvation. Most of the crowd had jammed toward the wider main entrance, leaving the side corridor toward the emergency exit relatively clear. If we could just reach it—if we could just step outside—we’d be free. We’d win. I’d win. One million dollars, right here in my hands.
Then the loudspeakers crackled to life, snarling with fury. “Damn you, Zaft Callahan! You mischievous rat!” It was Ismail Arondight’s voice, distorted and venomous. “Get fucked!”
My blood ran cold.
A searing red laser dot danced across my vision. I blinked—and realized it was aimed right between my eyes.
The nearest of the colossal gatling guns whirred to life, its barrel spinning faster, the air around it humming with the promise of death. I froze.
“Fuck!” I gasped.
“ZAAAAFT!”
The scream—sharp, metallic, familiar—cut through everything. A voice I knew. A voice that cared.
Then, from above, the heavens themselves seemed to crack. Something roared through the clouds, descending like divine judgment. A meteor?
No. Not a meteor. A Frame Unit.
It struck the ground with a thunderous impact just feet in front of me, sending shockwaves through the floor. Gleaming white and gold armor shimmered in the firelight, accented with bold streaks of blue—majestic, radiant, and resolute. The Frame Unit dropped into a protective stance, bracing on its arms and knees as it interposed itself between me and the oncoming storm of bullets.
The gatling gun opened fire—and the mech stood its ground. Sparks flew as high-caliber rounds hammered its armor, but it didn’t flinch. Not once.
The deafening roar of the gatling barrage echoed across the wrecked bar, and spent shells rained down like brass hail, clinking and bouncing across the floor. I flinched, bracing for impact… but nothing hit me. No searing pain. No spray of blood. I was still alive—miraculously in one piece. My limbs trembled, not from fear for myself, but for the one who had shielded me.
“Myrrh!?” I shouted, disbelief catching in my throat. “What are you doing here?!”
A voice crackled back over the Frame Unit’s speaker, unmistakably hers—sharp, fiery, and furious.
“Did you forget I’m an intern at KAWAII headquarters, dumbass?” Myrrh snapped.
“That’s not what I’m asking!” I yelled over the noise. “Why did you save me?”
“What the hell kind of question is that? Would you rather be full of bullet holes, you stupid goon?” she barked, voice trembling just slightly beneath the bravado. “Of course I saved you—because you’re important to me!”
The words slammed into me harder than any bullet could. My chest tightened. My heart stuttered. Important to her… I’d been such an idiot. Pushing her away, treating her like just another classmate when she was so much more. Even with the secrecy of this mission—kept hidden from even Fei—I should’ve told her. Trusted her. Because she wasn't just another ally in a suit of metal. She was my partner. My WAIFU.
“Agent Feena gave me the go signal to participate in the op. Same goes for you, Zaft-fucking-Callahan!” Myrrh continued, regaining control of the situation. “So quit standing there like a lovestruck dope and link up with me already!”
With a swift flick, she tossed something through the air—a sleek smartwatch glinting in the smoke. I reached out and caught it instinctively, my fingers curling tight around the lifeline she just threw me.
I strapped the smartwatch to my wrist, and the moment it locked in place, a flash of light danced across my vision. A holographic interface pulsed to life, shimmering in blue and white pixels.

I reached out and pressed my palm against Myrrh’s gleaming metallic foot. The contact was instant—electric. The WEEB system emitted a sharp beep as streams of glowing code connected our signals.

“Let’s go,” I muttered, adjusting the watch like a pro, feeling a rush of power pulse through me. Every inch of me buzzed with kinetic energy and swagger—I was ready to walk like I owned the battlefield.
But just as I took my first step, a voice—soft, pleading—cut through the smoky chaos.
“Zaft!”
I turned.
Fei stood there, framed by smoke and dim emergency lights. Her hand clutched her morpher tightly against her chest, and her golden eyes—wide and shimmering—locked onto mine.
“I want to fight too,” she said, voice trembling with courage. “Let me help you.”
I didn’t hesitate. “Got it.”
I held out my arm—the one wearing the WEEB-equipped smartwatch—offering her a fist bump. Fei met it with her own, her morpher in hand, her expression hardening into steel.

She nodded, lips curving into a confident smile. Then, she took a step back and raised her morpher into the air, ready to transform.
But before the light could engulf her, another voice joined the scene.
“I will fight too,” Neil said, appearing beside us. He tapped the face of his own smartwatch—but nothing happened. The screen stayed black, flickering with static. Ismail’s hack still lingered like poison in the system.
Neil winced and looked up at Myrrh with an apologetic half-grin. “Can I get a WEEB too?”
Myrrh didn’t miss a beat. “Not everyone gets to play hero.” Her voice was firm, almost maternal. “I already gave Zaft the only WEEB smartwatch assigned to me. So be a good boy, Neil—and stay put.”
Neil sighed dramatically. “Bummer.” He slumped his shoulders like a kid who just got grounded.
