Chapter 46: Against the Stolks(5) – Distraction

The city of the Ghosts was ablaze with war.

While Alice and her elite squad carved through the east, Dominic and Commander Lillian were already on the move, leading a mass of Ghost soldiers toward the northern sector of the city.

The streets in the north were a mess of wreckage and fire. Homes had collapsed, merchant carts burned, and blood stained the once peaceful cobblestone roads. Stolks—those monstrous, monkey-like beasts—ran rampant. They swung from broken balconies, leapt off rooftops, and shrieked in savage bloodlust as they laid waste to everything in their path.

Dominic moved cautiously through the debris, his blades drawn, his eyes scanning every movement. Lillian, on the other hand, marched like a goddess of war—tall, striking, and dripping in blood-red armor laced with shadow sigils.

"Push forward! Drive them into the square!" Lillian shouted.

Dominic took a moment to admire the warriors again. Their hips swung in a seductive manner . He watched Lillian’s hip swing left and right. Her ass was really large and if he didn’t control his lust , he might fick her in this battle field.

The female Ghost soldiers behind her obeyed without hesitation. They surged like a wave, fierce and elegant, a blur of steel and grace. Their hair flowed like fire, and their eyes burned with vengeance. Each one of them moved with precision, honed by years of deadly training.

Dominic flanked Lillian, engaging where he could, but it was clear—this woman was something else entirely. Her body was a divine lust built with precision and her movements were sharp and deadly.

A Stolk roared and pounced toward them from a collapsed roof. Lillian didn’t flinch. She stepped aside with fluid ease and then rammed her spear straight through the beast’s stomach. Shadow energy surged from the weapon, exploding the creature from within.

Dominic watched in content. His mind was relaxed on only one thing fucking the ass out of Commander Lillian.

Another leapt at her—twice the size of the last. She spun around, sliced its arms off midair, and then plunged her blade into its back as it landed.

Dominic turned in time to block a swipe from a smaller Stolk. He ducked, dodged, and countered with a clean slice across its chest. The beast growled but remained standing. He jumped back, repositioned, and used his speed advantage to slash the beast’s hamstrings before delivering a final blow to the neck.

More Stolks appeared from the shadows. They rushed in groups—mindless but vicious.

Lillian led the charge. She hurled her spear forward, impaling two Stolks in one throw. Then she summoned her blade from thin air, its shadow-forged metal crackling with power.

"This is our city!" she roared, slashing through another beast’s face. "You will not take it!"

The Ghosts followed her cry with a battle scream of their own. It shook the buildings. They cut down enemies with flawless grace. Magic exploded in bursts of dark purple and blue. Shadow tendrils reached out and dragged screaming Stolks into oblivion.

Dominic kept pace, but he watched Lillian with awe. She danced through the battlefield like a phantom, death trailing her every movement and her hips rising and falling occasionally.

A massive Stolk—one of the alphas—burst through a stone wall, towering above them with glowing red eyes and thick bristled arms.

"Mine." Lillian hissed, leaping up. Dominic stared at her in awe. She exuded a kind of confidence and he hadn’t noticed all these this much the last time they met.

The alpha swung its massive arm at her. She ducked midair, spun beneath it, and landed on its back. Her sword cut down its spine as she rode the beast to the ground, where she plunged her blade into its skull.

The beast convulsed and died.

Dominic joined in to finish off the ones left behind, taking down two more with precise slashes. He turned and found himself face-to-face with another—but before it could reach him, Lillian struck it down from the side.

"You fight well, General," she said with a smirk, covered in black blood. "But I’m not here to let you die."

"Appreciate the cover," Dominic replied. Damn! He was getting distracted. If he continued to think and look at Lillian’s boobs and ass, he might as well prepare to be buried soon enough.

As the battle raged on, more Ghost squads converged from the west and south. Lady Fares’ shadow casters launched ambushes, and Alice’s squad drove a herd of cornered Stolks straight into a trap set in the Hollow Quarter.

The screams of the beasts echoed across the city as the trap sprung. Magical mines, shadow spikes, and fire traps activated all at once. The Stolks were torn apart.

Alice descended from above, blades slicing through the last of her pursuers. She smiled as she noticed that the Stolks were falling into place.

"Damn! Dominic is a badass! Thinks too well to be real. Got a good brain and will make a difference but my only concern is why Lord Fortex would want him dead precisely.

From the central watchtower, the signal was finally given.

"Encircle! End them all!!!"

Within minutes, the combined forces of the Ghosts surrounded the remaining Stolk invaders.

Dominic stood at the edge of the wreckage, catching his breath. Bodies lay everywhere—Stolks in heaps, Ghost soldiers wounded but victorious.

Lady Fares arrived, her cloak tattered but her stance firm. Alice stood beside her, blood on her blade but her spirit unbroken.

Lillian approached Dominic and saluted.

"We’ve cleared the north. The city’s safe. For now."

Dominic nodded. His chest was heavy with the scent of fire, death, and blood—but his eyes blazed with purpose.

"This is just the beginning. Coris sent them to test our walls. Next time, she’ll send something worse." Alice said .

Lady Fares nodded grimly. "Then we must prepare for war."

"Well I think we might already have a bad friend on our back already. Every sheep has a shepherd and we didn’t encounter the commander of this squad. I guess he hasn’t showed up or has he?" Dominic asked as he stared at them curiously.

Everyone stared at him. He was right. If the Commander of the Stolks was not yet here then they were not done yet. They has to find the Commander and compel him to their power. Until then, victory was not certain. It only loomed in and across them.
