Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Renting Earth

The Sea Spirit Civilization was shocked to discover that this Wandering Planet actually harbored alien life.

Despite the fact that this Wandering Planet wasn’t a Celestial Civilization, the biological civilization on this planet had come up with a very unique method to control the planet’s wandering.

Towering on the Wandering Planet were energy thrusters each standing 11,000 kilometers tall, resembling the single-barrel thrusters at a spaceship’s rear. At this point, the Sea Spirit Civilization was unaware that these structures were called Planet Engines, and they were even more astonished to learn that there were over 10,000 of these Planet Engines on the Wandering Planet, which this biological civilization used to propel the wandering planet.

In an instant, the Sea Spirit Society nestled in the ocean was thoroughly shaken.

"These aliens are way too bold, aren’t they? How on Earth Ocean did they come up with such an out-of-the-box idea?"

"Aliens indeed are aliens; their wildly imaginative ideas are simply beyond our reach!"

"Exactly. Based on observations, those energy thrusters seem to emit ionized gas streams, and the propulsion technology they use is likely heavy nuclear fusion, which suggests they might just be a First-level Civilization. Yet, they’re capable of controlling the wandering of a planet. As a Second-level Civilization still pondering over escape methods, why do I feel like we’ve been outsmarted?"

"..."

Witnessing the Wandering Planet’s incredible concept, everyone from the Sea Spirit Civilization realized the diversity of life.

They might be a Second-level Civilization, but they were thoroughly humbled by the outlandishly novel Wandering Planet project. They were genuinely curious. How did these aliens come up with such a radical idea?

Simultaneously, they were extremely eager to uncover what a civilization capable of such methods would look like.

Thus, the Sea Spirit Civilization began a deeper investigation, and after half a month of research, they discovered that the biology of the Wandering Planet’s inhabitants wasn’t much different from their own, except they lacked fins, had no scales, their heads were covered with hair, and they were shorter in stature. It took them quite some time to observe what these aliens looked like under their thick thermal suits, as they usually wore them when venturing onto the surface.

Based on these characteristics, some biologists within the Sea Spirit Civilization speculated that the aliens might be subterranean life forms, different from themselves who were ocean dwellers. It seemed that the aliens’ customs were centered around the underground, and their pallid complexion was clearly the result of long-term subterranean living.

However, there was opposition among some Sea Spirit People.

This was because there were clear remnants of civilized cities on the surface of the Wandering Planet.

This indicated that these aliens were originally surface dwellers who were forced to relocate underground to adapt to the climatic upheavals brought on by the Wandering Planet project.

After gathering basic information about the aliens, the Sea Spirit Civilization immediately engaged in intense debate.

With the looming crisis of the giant nebula drawing closer, some Sea Spirit People proposed the idea of imitating the aliens to remodel Sea Spirit Star, enacting the Wandering Sea Spirit Star plan.

However, the radical faction of the Sea Spirit Civilization objected to this idea, as the geological conditions of Sea Spirit Star differed from those of the Wandering Planet, making success uncertain. Besides, this would definitely require a long period of adjustment, and time was not on their side. Therefore, the radical faction suggested a direct assault on the Wandering Planet, and then using it to escape the Galaxy Nebula.

This proposal surprisingly garnered support from many Sea Spirit People.

As beings from a harsh marine environment, many Sea Spirit People were naturally more aggressive. Moreover, learning that the aliens were merely a First-level Civilization made them believe that seizing the ready-made Wandering Planet would certainly be easier than spending time and effort building their own.

What was most important, they also discovered that under the ice layer of the Wandering Planet, there was a vast ocean, which was the perfect ecological environment for their survival.

Although this proposal sounded highly feasible and possibly cost-effective, the Sea Spirit Civilization ultimately did not proceed with it.

After all, the primary objective of the Sea Spirit Civilization was to escape the Galaxy Nebula, not to plunder resources. If it had been to plunder resources, they would have acted without hesitation. However, initiating a war during an emergency evacuation was deemed an illogical act, so the Sea Spirit Civilization decided to first pursue a compromise.

They decided to send envoys to communicate with the aliens, hoping to rent the Wandering Planet to escape the Galaxy Nebula.

......

Meanwhile.

The Earth Civilization on the Wandering Planet had of course long been aware of the Sea Spirit Civilization’s presence.

However, they did not act rashly. Their goal was simply to traverse the Sea Spirit Star System. Given their current speed and a travel distance of 0.5 light-years, they would need roughly three hundred years to cross. As long as the Sea Spirit Civilization did not take any action, they wouldn’t stir up trouble either.

However, as Earth traversed approximately one astronomical unit distance within the Sea Spirit Star System, the Sea Spirit Civilization’s spacecraft descended outside Earth’s atmosphere.

Initially, the Earth Civilization thought it was an alien invasion, causing the space stations just outside Earth’s atmosphere to tense up, even preparing for an invasion defense. Unexpectedly, the other party suddenly sent a low-frequency electromagnetic wave message. After decoding and translating through the intelligent system, the Earth Civilization eventually understood the Sea Spirit Civilization’s intentions.

Earth’s intelligent systems had evolved to be even smarter during the time in the Wandering Universe. Having been baptized by the Universe’s intricate, multiplex electromagnetic signals, the intelligence systems were now essentially able to decode the bulk of information carried by simple electromagnetic waves.

This time, the intelligent system decrypted the message from the Sea Spirit Civilization and learned that the Sea Spirit Civilization actually wanted a friendly conversation with them.

"Hello, we’re glad you’ve received this message. As fellow biological civilizations in the Universe, we from the Sea Spirit Civilization would like to further communicate with you. The impending giant nebula collision crisis is drawing near, and we hope that we can help each other!"

Driven by curiosity, the Earth Civilization also replied to the Sea Spirit Civilization with radio waves of the same frequency, and in the ensuing simple exchange, both civilizations gained a better understanding of each other’s electromagnetic wave techniques, thus allowing for much deeper communication.

After nearly half a day of radio wave exchanges, the Sea Spirit Civilization finally made their purpose clear.

They hoped to exchange their Second-level Civilization Annihilation Technology, wishing for the Earth Civilization to allow the Sea Spirit Civilization to enter the Earth Ocean.

In this way, both civilizations could work together to replace the nuclear power technology of the Planet Engines with Annihilation Technology. When that happens, the thrust of the Planet Engines would increase at least tenfold, enabling them to travel on Earth at a much faster speed to escape the Galaxy Nebula, avoiding the massive collision crisis posed by the giant nebula!
