Vengeance of The Broken Lycan Prince [BL] -
Chapter 334: The Loneliest of Traitors
Chapter 334: The Loneliest of Traitors
[KAWAI]
Sanji had failed.
He had tried to play the most dangerous game with the Lycan Chief who had nothing left to lose, and he had lost everything himself. The credibility that he had earned over the years as a servant loyal to Kawai had all gone down the drain.
There was never going to be a way to recover it and that hurt more than anything he could have imagined, and that too as the one man who had earned so many friends over the years.
"This was your plan from the beginning, wasn’t it, Konstantin? Standing here, showing everyone that you won, painting me a traitor when you and your barbarians have no eligible proof for what you claim. All of this is just a ploy, which doesn’t even make sense;
"...Because at the end of the day, I am just another Lycan who was failed by the Kawai Hinata house," Sanji said, attempting to appeal to the humanity of the warriors who hadn’t let down their weapons.
They still were trained at the man who didn’t stand a chance, but perhaps there was more to what Sanji claimed for them. Maybe it was easily the worst that could have happened, but in a world where life and death held no remorse and had not that many meanings.
Surely, he wasn’t blind not to see what this was leading him to, right?
"Whatever floats your boat, Sanjiro. Now pick up the weapons and lead the way to the free lands. Maybe you are not the traitor, but you are the cowardly warrior who chose to end his life on the Kawai lands instead of losing your life on the battlefield like all the brave soldiers out there.
"Your actions are an insult to the writer of the Kawai army. And this is your way to earn their trust back and make them understand that perhaps you aren’t the worst of people out there. That their coming to war for you wouldn’t be the worst of ideas for them too.
"Prove it to them; let them know what this means, and maybe you will stand a chance at redemption again," Tamiko spoke so calmly and the warrior looked at him before they lowered their weapons.
This was not an occurrence that the Lycans were used to.
It was not something that they would trade their shame and lives for but at the same time, this was their chance at a home that didn’t have to always be at war. A home that would have their mothers feeling safe and their sisters not scared of what tomorrow would hold.
This was their chance to make sure Kawai was safe. And not because it was the most powerful orbit of the realm out there, but because the people in it felt safe enough to want to stay here until the possible end of their eternal lives.
That was something that they had all dreamt of at some point in time and regardless of the number of traitors in their midst, they would get their answers. They would work for their dream and if it was an illusion, then they would as well make it the best of illusions out there.
It was not negotiable at this point. And that was the pride of a home that lives and reigns, even when terror threatens to turn their lives upside down.
"My apologies, comrades," Sanji said as he grabbed his tools and walked to the free lands.
He knew that they had bested him.
This was not a time for him to start acting smart because regardless of what he did, it wasn’t just the Hinatas who had their eyes on him this time.
It was the warriors too.
Actually, the entire Lycan kingdom was staring at him, studying him, and would never let him be the traitor who would fuck their home up gain.
The warriors had known that Igor Konstantin was a disciplined man who didn’t just go about choosing his targets and that too in Kawai.
Most of the people Igor had murdered and the bounties that he had collected had been out of his duty to Kawai and the citizens of Kawai. He was a loyal warrior whose actions, however vile, had been aimed at a better home for them.
It was something that even the worst of their enemies knew of, which was also the one thought that put a damper on any other plans that Sanjiro had for himself.
This was not the time, he could agree with that.
Perhaps he would try again when the sun shone, but until then, he had to make the long walk of shame among thousands of Lycan warriors who had just witnessed his actions. He was the worst that could ever be and no one could ever save him.
He had to buy himself mercy. But would the beasts of an untamable kingdom ever even consider giving him a chance at peace or was that another pipe dream of Sanji that would never see light ever?
"You did well, krushka," Kosta said once the warrior had dispersed and it was just him, his barbarians, and the young prince.
Life was full of shit, but even in the midst of all that, with the Lycans who had been so determined to do whatever it took to prove to the prince that Kawai was worth standing up for, they had gotten to this point.
"Thank you. I wasn’t sure he would relent. He had been so vocal earlier and I was worried he would try to pull some stunt," Tamiko breathed softly and Kosta smiled at him, as he traced his fingers on the young Hinata’s cheeks.
He could see how tense the kid was, but this was just the beginning of them all.
This right here was the call for war and while Tamiko had been used to fighting alone, this was going to be his chance to see and make good use of the warriors that were writing for him.
He had an entire battalion to command, an army that would ask just how high if ever Tamiko wanted them to make a jump. It was so unrealistic and yet at the same time, it was as real as anything could ever get.
It was what pride and lover looked like and even hell wouldn’t stand a chance here.
This was home.
This was heaven.
And even then, this was hell.
But it was the kind of hell that love would finally draw them out of. They would find each other on the banks of fierce loyalties and if they didn’t use those well, then they would be damned. It was no secret at this point anyway.
"Whatever direction you choose to go after this, my barbarians and I will be at your service," Kostra reminded and Tamiko breathed a sigh of relief. Of course, he knew that that was the truth and that Kosta wouldn’t hesitate to burn down Kawaii for him.
But it didn’t make it any easier to embrace the fact that some of the faces he had gotten familiar with would turn out to be the rest of the backstabbers. It just didn’t seem right, but at least he was with a team that knew what war looked like, right?
"Go. Join the others in claiming the free lands, Kosta. They trust you and your skills more than they do mine. They will follow me because I am a prince, but I doubt they have seen me on the battlefield long enough to have faith in what I can do," Tamiko said earnestly.
