Chapter 304: The Sky Burns Red Against Your Skin

[TAMIKO]

"Kiyoi is calling, my soul," Kosta said and Tamiko sat up instantly, making the Lycan Chief stare at him in confusion. The man was still breaking a fever and it was not something Kosta could understand.

He suddenly went from being the man in the bed, curling and desperate for shut that Kosta couldn’t even think straight about, to someone who was smiling from ear to ear about the chef calling for him.

"Is he done?" Tamiko asked, ignoring the blaring headache he was feeling. It was as if someone was trying to force his head a sort and it hurt like hell. But that wasn’t what he wanted to title Kosta.

He didn’t want his Erasthai to worry about him, and certainly not his father, uncle, or best friend.

For a moment, they all looked at Tamiko, like he had come up from the dead, which wasn’t so far from what he was feeling.

Tamiko felt hot and bothered all over.

He appreciated the little towel on his forehead but they all knew that that wouldn’t do much to help him. It was obvious the more they looked around and sniffed the copious amounts of lavender sent around them.

"I... You..." Kosta trailed off as he watched his Erasthai wipe the dry tears off his face like all that had been nothing, but they knew it was something, they knew the strain was real. The desperation that had been witnessed was as real as it could get.

Sure, the young prince could cover it and deny it with a smile on his face, but he felt like shit and it was a matter of time.

"I’m fine, my precious. Come along, let’s get some food into you," Tamiko said as he held Kosta’s hand and walked them towards the door, where the rest of his family was watching in confusion and amusement.

The king was particularly a little too excited and it was creeping the people around him out. Lord Sadako still wanted to smack his brother into oblivion, honestly, but he had to wait and see what the fuck this was sabot this time.

Perhaps they all had to be patient too, right?

"But..." Kosta tried.

"You haven’t eaten since morning. I’ll tell you whatever you want after dinner, love," Tamiko said and Kosta sighed.

There was no talking sense to him. Perhaps this wasn’t the time for them to be talking sense. This was the time for them to be out there eating and having the time of their lives, right?

"Okay," Kosta said as the rest followed right behind them.

The king was still too excited, despite the stink eye he was getting from Danny and Lord Sadako. But he didn’t seem to mind them, after all, he had been told about grandkids and he had a lot of hope at the moment.

"Your Highness... as you wished," Kiyoi said when he saw the prince and his Erasthai.

"Thank you, Kiyoi. That will be all," Tamiko said before pulling the chair for Kosta who was staring at him curiously. What the fuck had happened in the hours he had left Tamiko earlier?

What the hell had happened to his Erasthai because this was not the man he had left. This was someone else and it was confusing in every way. Perhaps he needed to wait it out, but how long would it be before Kosta felt like he was going crazy because of the young prince?

"I think I’m going to get sick," Danny said as he watched his brother be sweet to his enemy.

Of course, Danny knew how the mating rules worked, but this was just a little too much for him. This was sickeningly sweet and the fact that neither of them was ever going to be able to do shit about it was even more upsetting.

But perhaps the look on the koala’s face was hilarious enough to ease Danny’s pain, right? There had to be a way around this. There had to be, because this way is insanity.

"Well, at least I’m certain of getting grandkids," King Zaffuto said as he walked past the two Lycan Lords and made it to the table.

"I don’t know who is more disgusting between the three of them," Danny whined and Lord Sadako chuckled.

"Aren’t you happy for your best friend?" Lord Sadako asked curiously.

"Happy? I’m elated for him. All our lives he was always the sad one. The one who had to be strong. He was always the one looking out for us, regardless of what the circumstances were. He was always lonely, even when he was with me.

"There were just some parts of his life that I was never able to fill, no matter how hard I tried. When he met Igor, that was when I understood why I was never bae to fill that voice. It was never mine to fill in the first place.

"My brother had been alone and it hadn’t been intentional. With Igor, it was like he was finally whole again. He was finally the boy I had grown up with, the boy who smiled more, long before the Grealors started their bullying.

"Igor is easily the best thing that happened in his life and I am happy for them. I wish for them to be happy, always. Because even though I want to kill Igor for visiting my brother and hurting him first.

"I know it was never intentional. They need each other. They live for each other. It is so beautiful. And disgusting at the same time. Like right now. They look like we are all intruding on their world as we are all hungry," Danny whined.

Lord Sadako chuckled.

He knew that Danny was a loyal friend and brother and he trusted him for that. Lord Sadako knew that Tamiko could rely on the man beside him no matter what they had to go through and it was comforting.

At the same time, he agreed with Danny.

Tamiko was always sweet with Igor, but today it is something else. It was like this was the first time they were seeing each other and falling for each other all over again.

"We just have to put up with this for a few days. All will be well eventually," Lord Sadako said and he patted Danny’s back before they joined the trio at the table.

"Do we get to share what you had prepared for Kostin?" King Zaffuto asked, even though he already knew what the answer would be.

So, when his son growled at him the king just smirked and stared at Konstantin, almost as if to tell the Lycan to remember that he was never allowed to break the young prince’s heart.

The warning was always there, but on days like this, it was clearer. Perhaps Kosta really needed to fear for his life but what was the use when at the end of the day he mated to the sweetest Lycan prince out there?

"Kosta... I wanted to apologize for the past month. For not trusting you enough and for being a coward about how she had turned out. I know it wasn’t what I swore when we first got to know each other.

"So, I prepared the first meal we shared, to let you know that I will never forget about us. That I love you, more than anyone else in the world," Tamiko began and Kosta stared in shock.
