Chapter 289: When The Night Was Full of Terrors [1]
[ZULA]
"Today is the day. We have to make it as quick as possible. The little window of opportunity we have we have to use it well. Any of the wolves who will be caught won’t be prosecuted.
"Any attempt at a fight will result in you being teleported back to this shelter. Anyone with questions?" Zula asked the wolves who had come to help with the heinous plot against the mad king.
Most of them were against this, but then when they were reminded that it was the only way to make sure the king hurt more than their fallen family members, the wolves had readily agreed.
The King had cost a lot of lives over his years. Most of the wolves here didn’t even have families because Zaffuto Hinata had thought it wise to come after their kin. The man eliminated their clans and there wasn’t a thing left for him to lose.
Besides, they had alpha Ashton for backup and Zula had said that they wouldn’t be caught in Kawai.
Heaven and hell knew that if they were caught in the coup in Kawai, they would never leave that kingdom alive and they would definitely never leave it dead either. They would be tortured for eternity, given how spiteful the man on the damned throne was.
"How much time do we have?" one of the wolves asked.
"One hour. You go in, you take out the queen and you leave," Zula said as she created a portal for them. It was a simple plan, after all, they didn’t want him to hurt another kid.
And so, one by one, they portaled to the Kawai birthing hall, the one place they had been told that the queen had gone to, thanks to Sanjiro and his lingering state in the kingdom.
It was the worst form of betrayal but someone had to put an end to the tyranny of the mad king. And if that meant going after his family, then they would do it. Besides, it wasn’t anything that the man hadn’t already done to them either way.
Maybe they were not thinking rationally, but the plan was already in action. The wolves had been given images of the woman to look for, perhaps that’s why they had been just a hundred of them.
The other numbers would not fight the Lycan warriors if they tried to stop them from reaching the queen, after all, even the queen had a female high guard who would definitely pose as midwives and shit.
This was it for them.
"Alright. Remember at the first sight of danger, the kind that you can’t fight, get out of them. We wouldn’t want you losing your lives in the liberation and having them trace the attacks to us," Alpha Ashton reminded as the wolves went through the portal.
This was insanity, but with the wolves, the Furfantes knew they had to wait. It was just a matter of time before the success of their mission was brought back to them.
A part of them hoped that there wasn’t that much of a resistance for them to have to come back with the Lycan prince but then whatever it took to get their vengeance they would do it.
It didn’t matter who was going to be hurt, or who had feelings that didn’t need to be considered at the moment. And so, they waited.

Meanwhile, in Kawai, the women at the birthing hall were excited to get the kids out of their bellies. Lycan children were always a tad heavier than normal children and it was because they weren’t only beats but warriors, even at birth.
They were being born into the craziest of kingdoms and the king had always insisted that the women be fed well so the kids would be big and healthy enough to be able to pick up swords but their sixth birthdays.
That was always a decree.
Of course, no child had ever been forced to take up the sword at age six, but it was something that the parents had always drained their kids for. It was a general training system and tradition and honesty made it easier for everyone, seeing as the kids did mature faster.
"All the high guards, get out," Queen Liana suddenly commanded right before the doors to the birthing hall closed and they looked at her like she was crazy.
She was a queen and she couldn’t be left alone. She was more important than all the women there and it was common sense that she would not let this be something she wanted to do.
"But my queen, the king said to be here for you," one of the high guards said.
Liana looked at her with raised brows. This was actually the first time anyone had gotten that look from the queen of hearts, and to say it was terrifying would not ever be enough justice.
The queen looked at the high guard as if to ask her if she was challenging a direct order from the queen of Kawai. It was a daring thing to do, given the possibility Liana could just be as bad as her husband.
Just because she was never letting Zaffuto be out there in his cruelest form, didn’t mean she didn’t have the same heart. She knew what it took to be where she was and if she had to be the worst, Liana could easily be that.
But then she had made herself a promise when she mated Zaffuto and that was to bring normalcy and she was slowly succeeding. Perhaps with this new heir, she would be able to make their family a normal one, right?
"I said get out. This is a place for pregnant women and their midwives and nurses. If you are not one of them, you need to leave. In here, we are women, not queens, or commoners. Just women.
"Is that hard for you to understand or should I get up from here and walk you out myself?" Queen Liana asked the high guards stubbornly and they bowed their heads shamefully before they walked out.
It was a risk leaving them here like that but then Liana was right. This was a birthing hall and there was already too much security outside. Besides, everyone here was a trained warrior. They could fight if it ever came to that, right?
The women left in the birthing hall watched their wine with admiration, despite the cries out in labour. They were feeling the pinch of bearing kids and yet at the same time, they couldn’t hide their pride for the woman who was just like them.
She loved the theme visually and wanted to prove to them that Kawai was going to be a better place for them all.
Maybe that was why those who hadn’t been induced yet smiled at her while the others cried out determinedly, promising to name their kids after the kindest queen of hearts.
Soon after, the door to the birthing hall closed and it was just the women and their nurses.
This was not going to take so long either way. After all, they could push and they were readied for so long, not to mention the fact that most of them had been induced so early in the morning.
Well, it’s all good until a portal opens and warrior wolves streamed in, looking for the Lycan queen.
"Liana Nakamura Hinata. Show your face and we will leave the women here alive!"
