Vengeance of The Broken Lycan Prince [BL] -
Chapter 258: Couldn’t Freeze The Light, My Love
Chapter 258: Couldn’t Freeze The Light, My Love
[TAMIKO]
Tamiko knew it was just a matter of time before his body forced him to give in to the fatigue and get rest. He understood that part so well it horrified me very much. Perhaps he had more time... he had to have more time with Kosta.
Surely the universe wasn’t going to be cruel to him, yeah?
"Well, you want vengeance against the Grealors, who are the largest and strongest werewolf pack in the realm. They have the numbers and can ally with other wolf packs to come after what you love the most.
They have done it before with you, so they might do it again," Sadako began and Tamiko glared at his uncle. This was not the time to remind him of the unfortunate lives he had struggled to live with the Grealors.
Of course, this wasn’t meant to make Tamiko uncomfortable, but then it was a truth that didn’t scream to comfort others. This was bullshit and Tamiko wanted to burn Grealor to the ground.
Those wolves had done so much damage that the thought of them having to try again was driving Tamiko nuts. He couldn’t think of a good enough reason why the Grealors were obsessed with the Kawai throne.
It wasn’t as if the wolves would ever be able to rule over the Lycans, who were natural beasts. The Lycans would murder them all and see to it they never got to bring life to their race anymore.
Hell, the midnight moon would have to try and create more werewolves but in a place that didn’t have Lycans anymore because humanity was something the Lycan never understood properly.
Even at this point, they were still holding onto the rage of losing their kin years ago because of their wives. The animosity was never going to go away and Tamiko knew that. The wolves had to have known that too, however stupid they wanted to act out.
"You’re angry. Good. Anyway, assuming you get your vengeance in a year, you will have to be the king of Kawai, because Zaffuto and I will be on a spree to avenge our fallen from twenty-six years ago.
"It is something that not even you, dearest nephew can talk us out of. And we can’t go without leaving someone on the Kawai throne. There’s a chance we might come back as soulless monsters, which won’t be bad...well perhaps bad if we don’t have someone to bring us back to love and life.
"What I mean is that regardless of the order of things, your Erasthai will always be a target, unless you deal with the enemies," Sadako said.
Tamiko stilled.
He had known that his uncle and father had a beef with the wolves of Grealor, but he never thought they were giving him the head start to deal with the wolves. It made Tamiko wonder what the fuck was the plan for the worst Lycans in the kingdom.
Vengeance was theirs, that much Tamiko had long understood, but for them to be that patient and be willing to wait for Tamiko to get his vengeance and then for them to go against the Grealors, it only meant that there would be countless lives on the line.
So many people would be ruined. So many alliances would be broken, and at the end of the day, Kawai would still be standing. Then again, the history books of the Kawai massacre had never been evoked.
If anything, they were the same account from every author. It was like they had been there and loved it throughout. Well, they had. They had watched the sunset on them in the middle of the day.
They had seen the ones they loved lay on the floor of the birthing ball. The wolves had attacked the weakest and harmless lot of the lycans and not even the Lycans who were born today would ever be able to forgive the wolves for that.
That was a message that they all needed to understand because time was not going to stop for anyone. Time was not going to pause just because some people thought they were too special.
Retribution came and it was the kind that would not be forgiven for the rest of the years that Kawai would remain standing, or the realm functional.
"I fucking hate Grealor," Tamiko bit out angrily like it wasn’t already obvious to everyone around him.
He was the Grealor outcast, of course, he had shit to settle with the pack of wolves that had ruined his life and made him a slave when he was born a prince and kidnapped. That shit sucked.
"You’ll have enough time to hate them... but first, you gotta go back to your Erasthai and make that man feel just how much you love him," Sadako said and Tamiko raised a brow at the way his uncle dragged the last bit.
It was unlike his uncle but at the same time, it was just like his uncle to make shit like that happen. Lord Sadako was a piece of work, truly and there was never going to be a day that Tamiko didn’t learn that.
Thankfully, he was the piece of work that was loved and cherished by the Hinata family, otherwise, it would have been really awkward for them to try and make sense of things that they wouldn’t be able to for some time.
Emotions were a block wall for the Hinatas and it was people like Lord Sadako, Daniel, Konstantin, and Queen Liana who helped them see the old has something better than a place to light up fires and watch the embers take out everything other people held onto.
That loss was the only link the Hinatas had to their humanity.
"That’s disgusting, uncle," Tamiko complained as if he didn’t like the idea.
"Oh please... I already sealed your chambers with magic. You can hear what’s happening outside your chambers, but no one can hear what’s happening within. Just make sure we have a Lycan Chief by morning, kid," Lord Sadako teased Tamiko who had been on his fifth coffee cup.
Time had gone by and it was just enough for the guilt of leaving Kosta to start hitting Tamiko at full throttle. His uncle may have been a tease but he made sense. Tamiko needed to embrace his fears and understand what it was that was waiting for him.
He had to take care of the people he loved or rather, the person he loved the most. Before they could do anything as going to war. He couldn’t let Kosta go, he was never going to let Kosta go.
And if he didn’t act right, he would be a nuisance in Kosta’s life which didn’t seem fair.
"I hate you," Tamiko whined as he downed the sixth coffee cup that wasn’t doing much for him other than remind him of how pathetic and miserable he had gotten.
Maybe the world would be a better place with all that they were planning, but what we eat mechanics that life would be the same?
"Your Erasthai is awake already, kid. Go, leave the coffee. You don’t need it," Sadako insisted and Tamiko facepalmed before leaving his uncle who was just alighting in the night.
It was a beautiful sound and deep down, Tamiko hoped that his uncle got the happiness he was hoping for. They all deserved to be happy, right?
****
"Kosta..." Tamiko trailed off uncertainty as he stared at his Erasthai who was awake and waiting for him.
The candles were dimly lit in their chambers and Tamiko felt like shit. He shouldn’t have run because now he knew that Erasthai never slept.
Kosta always waited for him, as he was out there trying to figure out what part of the fucked-up thoughts he would be fighting on his own. He should have been stronger and the best for Kosta and yet here he was.
"It’s alright, krushka. Come back to bed, baby. We’ll be fine and you need to stop worrying too much," Kosta insisted and Tamiko felt like he had just been punched in the gut.
Even after all that, his omega was still as kind as ever. He was still caring and understood Tamiko. For a moment Tamiko felt like coming clean to Kosta but that would just break the Lycan chief’s heart.
He didn’t want that for Kosta.
Not right now, and certainly not ever.
"I’m sorry," Tamiko breathed defeatedly as he joined his Kosta in bed. He knew he would have explained further, and tried to make it make sense for the Lycan chief, but that wouldn’t make a difference, and Tamiko could see that.
Perhaps that was why it hurt a little bit, no?
"I trust you, dusha. Whatever decision you make, I will be there to support you. Let’s forget the past for a moment and just... stay here in the moment, yeah?" Kosta reassured the Lycan prince.
He had been there the entire time and he knew Tamiko more than Tamiko knew himself. Kosta was always attentive to Tamiko’s needs and that was also why he never pushed for Tamiko to stay with him whenever Tamiko got up from their bed.
He only hoped that Tamiko would come back and that time would fix whatever was bothering him so they would be happier. And each time Tamiko came back, Kosta never had anything to be scared of.
But was it ever going to be alright?
"I love you," Tamiko whispered
"I know, baby. I love you too," Kosta breathed, kissing Tamiko’s forehead.
"Now, let’s get some sleep, krushka. You haven’t slept in so long, and I just want to sleep beside you," Kosta added, and that hit right where Kosta wanted it to. The prince stared at him in earnest, apologies in his eyes along with the love he had for the Lycan chief.
"Oh, love," Tamiko sighed softly before cuddling with Kosta.
Slowly, but surely, they would find their way out of this, but would it be easier with whatever Grealor was planning?
