Chapter 242: I’ve Been Searching For A Trail to Follow Again

[KONSTANTIN]

"I’ll kill him," Kosta said as he was placed around the king’s study.

He knew it was not right to think of murder when he was before the king and everyone who could make his life harder but there couldn’t be anything harder to watch than what he had been dealing with for days.

He hated what had happened and if there was a chance to turn back time, Kosta would have done it in seconds. He wasn’t sure he could take this torture anymore because it was fucking with his mind.

There wasn’t a thing that he had done right since the day he had woken up and it was all because of the chaos before him. His heart was calling out to his Erasthai, but his Erasthai didn’t even seem bothered by his absence.

It was like suddenly Kosta didn’t matter anymore and that was the one thing that was eating at him. He couldn’t take this anymore and he needed to lash out, someone had to pay the price for what he was feeling, and right now, he had the perfect target.

"It will just make him hate you more. Think of the first time you abandoned him and left a letter. He followed you that night and he thought you had left him and were using him. And think also of the second time you abandoned him.

"You left him in the hands of the ministers and his heart was broken. Oh, and you went ahead to make it seem like you didn’t want him anymore. If you fuck it up a third time, no one, not even the king, will save you from his wrath and we both know that he is a vengeful Lycan.

"If I were you, I would wait it out," Danny said as he looked at the frustrated Lycan Chief.

He could tell that Tamiko was playing games with a Kosta. He was baiting his Erasthai and there was only so much that Kosta would try to do to make things right. Honestly, he was failing in every way.

Tamiko had refused to share space with him save for the dinner hours, which didn’t even last thirty minutes. It was the one time that he could see or breathe Tamiko in. The young prince had left his chambers for Kosta and had Kosta’s former chambers locked.

The worst part of it all was that Tamiko was living in his mother’s chambers which didn’t make anything better. Going there was forbidden for everyone in the palace, including Lord Sadako.

So, if Kosta went there the king would be the first one to have his head for invading Liana’s privacy. It was the cruelest time for Kosta and he was losing every bit of his mind.

He had never thought that life could be this hard on him. Maybe he just needed to think, but what the fuck was he supped to think of when his life seemed to be flashing right before him and there wasn’t much he could do to even save himself then?

"I didn’t think it would be this hard, Danny. I hate that he’s hanging around that bastard traitor and I hate what he is doing with him. I hate Sanji and I need to kill him. I need my hands around his neck just to watch life leave him," Kosta singed frustratedly as he punched the nearest wall.

It’s sad how the tides had turned, but then hadn’t that been his strike first? He had channeled rage first without even consulting his Erasthai. Oh, how Kosta had thought the events of that day like it was all he could think of.

Tamiko was killed for the first time in Kawai, for him. He had gone after the most important people after the king and yet Kosta had pushed him aside. Maybe it was because Kosta was scared, but Tamiko had defied so many laws that evening.

He had changed his life that day and he had done it for the man he loved. Tamiko had let everyone know his identity, something that he had never truly been ready to embrace in Kawi, and yet Kosta had pushed him away.

Hell, the man had gone after him and still took more lives just to get to him. But then the damage had already been done. It was like this was the result of everything that Kosta had been terrified of and it was eating him.

It was messing him up in so many ways that he was sure he would crash out sooner or later.

"Well, we did tell you to decide on that rejection fast. These are the consequences," Lord Sadako said softly as he checked the reports like they were just nothing.

The way that their lives had changed for the better and worse was quite an interesting event for anyone who didn’t know them. They were a mess and they had still managed to stay together even then.

Their lives had taken a run for the craziest and yet even then, it didn’t feel like life was as hard to deal with.

Whenever they were up against enemies, everything seemed so smooth, and yet this time, it was like the world had suddenly chosen to change and it wasn’t even for the better.

Shit was happening, lives were getting fucked, and worst of all was that Kosta still didn’t know how to fix the mess he had created.

"I just needed time to process everything," Kosta argued defeatedly.

"You took the man from the home he had known his entire life – however unhinged that home was and difficult. Then you somehow managed to convince him to come to YOUR home, a new environment where he didn’t trust anyone but you.

"The boy left everything Grealor for you, and it wasn’t even because of his father. He did it for you. He let you mark him just so you would feel secure in your bonds, even though he hated mate bonds.

"He despised them and never believed in love, yet for you, he pulled down his walls and let down his guard. He was honest with you and you pushed him a second time. I just don’t know, man, this is going to be a little hard to get out of," Danny said in earnest.

Kosta felt like he was going to die.

The reality was worse than the life he had lived out there in the free lands while he hunted his bounties. It was a crazy time for him and it was ruining his life. At least that much he was sure of.

But then again, Danny was right.

Tamiko had come along with him without thinking twice, and Kosta had stepped aside without even considering everything. Perhaps that was what fear drove him to, but what about trust?

Did he trust Erasthai who had been there with him for the past two years or was all that just an illusion for Kosta and a game that he was playing? This was never going to be easy and even the silent king who was watching his people from the balcony knew better than to comment on it.

"If I were you, I would assign Sanji to the worst sides of the kingdom to work his butt off, just saying," the king spoke and Kosta’s eyes lit up.
