Chapter 228: Yeah, You’re All I Need
[KAWAI]
Tamiko was in so much pain. His life had taken a turn for the worse since had come home to his father, and it made him wonder if he had been better off being a slave in Grealor.
He had tried to be positive, to think of better days and everything that could make his life easier, but there was none. He had managed to lose his mate and he didn’t even know what else to do.
He had struggled through the six days and murdered so many, but even that hadn’t given him the peace that it was supposed to. It was like he had been cursed to be alone and to always suffer and that was a fate so cruel and it was cramping him up.
As he sat in his Erasthai’s room, Tamiko wasn’t sure there would come a day when saw his Kosta again, he had been brave and begged his uncle and father for help. Hell, he had even asked Danny for help with the situation.
Despite all of that, deep down, Tamiko was scared about what Kosta would say to him if they found each other. He hated himself for not being strong and for not proving his Erasthai.
He hated himself for not being the person Igor would run to and it was killing him more than the fact that his Erasthai was missing. He wanted his Kosta back and he had tried to think that he would be fine even with Kosta back and not talking to him.
But that was a hurdle that scared the shit out of Tamiko. He was thinking of running away once Igor was back, and frankly, to him, it felt like the best of decisions at the moment.
He just didn’t expect that he would be shocked at his father’s statements.
"Your Erasthai is back, Kaito. He is in your room if you want to see him," his father spoke.
Tamiko felt the breaths hitch in his throat. He had heard the screams outside and knew it was Danny’s voice, but he just thought it was because his papa had scared his best friend again.
King Zaffuto had gotten to be a cheeky man in the days that Tamiko and Danny had been here so for Tamiko that was not even surprising. After all, the duo always reconciled by the time dinner came.
It wasn’t that hard for him but hearing those words from his father scared him to the core. He wasn’t sure what the fuck he was supposed to do.
His Erasthai had left home because of him. Because he could handle the shame of being an omega. His mate had not trusted that he would be safe and had insisted on masking his scent; it was a blow that Tamiko wasn’t sure he would ever recover from.
It hurt and it broke his heart. But even with a broken heart, he knew that he had to step up and decide what to do. Then again, what the fuck was he supposed to do this time, then? What was he to say to Igor after five harrowing days?
What state is his Erasthai in and what had he endured to get to this point? All of these were questions that got Tamiko wondering if he really deserved someone like Kosta.
It made him wonder if the world was always just going to be the worst place for him and those that he loved. He despised the situation that he was being thrust into all the time. Fuck was he confused.
"Papa... I can’t. H... he doesn’t want me, papa," Tamiko said as he lifted his head to look at his father who was in his Erasthai’s room. He didn’t even want to think of how his father was here, but what mattered was that he was here.
Tamiko was still clutching onto the unused nesting blankets that his father had given Kosta days ago. He hadn’t even considered them and it was something that sent a message to Tamiko.
His Erasthai hated what he was so much that he was willing to endure discomfort over identifying as and mega. That was not easy to process and Tamiko didn’t know what he was supposed to do with that.
He was just a boy who had never been loved as fiercely and he didn’t know what to do when it wasn’t war. He couldn’t exactly go and fight with the man he loved just to force shit on him.
His Kosta always deserved to be retracted property and Tamiko wasn’t about to act like the sunshine was coming out of his ass just because he was a prince and the son of the devil of the realm.
"He needs you, son... and you need him too. It is obvious. You have suffered for so long, my boy. You have endured shit that no one would survive and still managed to come out of this.
"When he wakes up, he will need you by his side. He is going to want to see you. We could have woken him up, but young Daniel insisted that you were the first sight that Konstantin would want to see and I agree with him.
"Forget what happened, my little angel, even just for a moment, and go to your Erasthai," King Zaffuto said softly as he looked at his son. He could see the dried tear streaks on Kaito’s face, not to mention the fresh lines on his face.
He could see the way his son’s eyes had gotten red and his cheeks puffy from crying so much. He wanted to say something better, but he was a man who was used to killing things that hurt him, and this was a new experience for him.
So, he stepped forward and hugged his son. It was the only thing he could think of even though he was certain that his son needed a hug right now. Both of them weren’t exactly the most emotional of beings and this was weird to them.
"I lost him, papa. I lost him and someone triggered his heat. Omega heats are stressful. They are the worst of the worst and he had to go through that on his own, papa. Who knows what they did to him out there?
"I honestly wouldn’t blame him if he hated me for this. I already fucked up his best friend and now all I have to show for my efforts is nothing but a trail of bodies that have littered the realm just because I couldn’t find some damn Mikhailov and Terrian.
"He doesn’t want me. You can deal with him. Thank you for bringing him back though," Tamiko sighed defeatedly.
He was desperate to see his Kosta.
The young prince was desperate to see the way that his mate was, but he was scared of what he would see. He was scared of the state that the man was in and he was concerned that he would never recover from the rejection was definitely bound for him.
He wouldn’t be able to take another rejection by his Erasthai and frankly, that scared him. Maybe this time he just had to make peace with the fact that happiness was never going to be his.
Tamiko Hinata was just a kid who had lost so much and didn’t have anything left to hold onto. He was just a boy who hadn’t even managed to save his Erasthai. Oh, but Tamiko was suffering.
"But son..." King Zaffuto began frustratedly. His tone was gentle and careful but it is obvious that he wanted to see his son get better. He wanted to see the smile on Tamiko’s face again, but he wasn’t sure what he needed to do.
His son had been in pain for so long and for a moment, the king considered forcing him to be beside Igor, but he was never a barbarian when it came to the apple of his eyes. So, he held on to his son tightly.
He just hoped that he would be able to take the pain away. Oh, but it was a wish that he was desperate for, and yet deep down, the king knew that there was nothing that he wouldn’t be able to grant his son.
It was a stage of life that he had to let his son endure, and boy was it messing with him. He loved his son too much to stand seeing him that hurt. Perhaps this was the king’s punishment by the fates, to be given a son who felt too much and one who didn’t have the best of relationships.
Wasn’t it unfair though? Surely fate couldn’t be that cruel to everyone, right? Someone had to try and make it better. Hell, something had to give and Zaffuto hoped that there was going to be a way out for his son.
"I’ll be fine, papa. He is alive, and that is what matters now. He’s back with us, that is more than I could ever ask for. Besides he wanted space; I can’t intrude on that for him. Please don’t force it on him.
"Just let him be. Let him recover peacefully, don’t hurt him, or play games with him," Tamiko said and his father sighed.
This was harder than anything that Zaffuto had ever done, and yet he knew that this way something had to be respected, he had to let his son process pain in the only way he could, even if that screamed a call for help.
"You... you’re not leaving Kawai, right?" Zaffuto asked and Tamiko chuckled sadly. He could hear the desperation in his father’s voice and it made his heart feel warm. At least with all the shit he was going through, someone still wanted him around.
Perhaps that was enough for him to stay in Kawai, right? But even if he stayed, would he ever know what happiness looked like, or was this just going to be endless torture for him?
"No, papa. I’m never leaving," Tamiko said and for the first time in six days, the king relaxed.
