Vengeance of The Broken Lycan Prince [BL]
Chapter 216: Between The Long Wars

Chapter 216: Between The Long Wars

[KOSTA]

"Did he tell you that you had to be an omega with him? Is that why you asked about your scent? I just don’t understand, Igor. You have always talked fondly of him like he is the best thing you ever met.

"You never considered him a prince or even you an omega or a bounty hunter. For you, he was always the one you love and clearly, he loves you too. Why do you want to go the distance then?

"The King didn’t remove you from your position and the mad King never missed anything. He had to have known who you were. He always knows even shit that we never know of.

"And your Erasthai didn’t get hostile with you, so why are you running away?" Akila asked in earnest. He knew Konstantin and he knew that the man was capable of so many things.

He understood the dynamics of what was supposed to be and wanted to be kept on the sidelines. It was something that could take so much for them, but also something that could cost them more than possible.

Maybe that was why Akila was honestly in confusion.

He had seen the two and he had watched the both of them fawn over each other with every step of the way. It was like they were the blueprint of love and suddenly all of that was aching and they didn’t know what it would mean to be on the other side and a fate like this.

"I am not running away. I am here on a bounty hunt. You are here too. None of us is running away, we are just on assignment," Igor insisted and Akila stared at him sadly. He could see the stress marks on the Lycan chief’s face and he felt terrible for the man.

Regardless of what this was about, regardless of what there would be for them, Akila knew that even Igor Konstantin desert happiness. He needed it to live just like every other person.

Happiness was the one thing that fate had tried to shove in their faces that they couldn’t have but right now, it was something that Akila couldn’t help but wish for Igor.

It seemed like a trivial matter given the state of the Kawai kingdom, but then no one would be able to establish the intent behind it. They would simply go along with it.

"You can’t even admit it to yourself, brother. You are hurting and you are scared. It is okay to be scared, Igor. It’s okay to feel differently. It would have been an issue for you if the King changed anything about toy roles and yet he didn’t.

"It was like this was bound to happen either way. He is not mad at you or disappointed in you, which doesn’t explain why you are out here bounty hunting when every Lycan back home knows that the Grealors are in the palace;

"... and that the King summoned them," Akila said.

Igor froze.

Maybe it was in the way that Akila had told him the truth about what he was doing to himself and how he ended up taking a step back and thinking of what he needed to do right then.

Igor deserved whatever he wanted and right now as he stopped in his tracks, Akila hoped that the man had finally realized what was missing in his life and that he would be able to go back home and fight for it.

They were close to the Kawai border anyway.

That shouldn’t have been so hard, right?

"What do you mean the Grealors are in the palace?" Igor asked as he looked at his friend who was staring at him and laughing his ass off. It was not that hilarious, but the way that Igor was staring at Akila was.

The man looked like he hadn’t expected that any of this would ever happen.

It was crazy and interesting at the same time and the event was enough that they could debate, maybe it was what the universe had chosen for them, but surely there had to be other avenues too, right? It couldn’t just be this one, surely it couldn’t.

"Is that all that relay got your attention from what I said, huh?" Akila teased and Igor didn’t relent.

He was looking at me like there was a lot of explanation needed and Akila need not get on with it, it wouldn’t matter how the fates had chosen to play this part of their lives and how harsh three conditions would be.

What mattered to Konstantin was the fact that there were wolves in the place and it was just my wolves there were the elves that he hated and despised and even worse wolves that had caused a series of pain to his Erasthai.

He was hopeless when it came to his love for Tamiko and he wasn’t ashamed of showing it. If only he could find Tamiko and make amends, all would be well, but then life sometimes never went the way they wanted it to, right?

Perhaps that was why he was here, clinging onto the last thread of sanity that had been made available to him.

It was his only link and he was desperately clutching to it while trying his very best not to come off as an unthankful Lycan chief who didn’t know how to take care of his Erasthai.

"This is not the time, Akila. What is happening at the palace? Why are they there?" Igor insisted and once again, Akila laughed amusedly. Only that this time, it wasn’t as full of blows as earlier.

It was one that was filled with sadness for the man who didn’t even know how to process his emotions in the right way. Igor was hopeless, but maybe there was going to be a way out of this.

The universe couldn’t be that cruel to him and his Erasthai. Someone had to make sense of what was happening right now.

"The King called them for some bond breaking, that is all that I know. I thought you knew about it since the entire mind links have been used with the wolves of Grealor," Akila said in earnest, the news of what he had just talked about shocking not only him but Igor himself.

It was like all of this was new to the Lycan chef and that nothing would be better if this was done. The bond breaking was something considered so scary and yet the Lycan Chief who was crucial to such ceremonies didn’t even seem to be bothered by it.

It was almost like the man had had his fair share of broken hearts to even be present when another bond was being ruined. He had been scared that this would happen, that this day would come, and that life was not going to be as easy for him.

It was chaotic for the longest time and no one would walk out of it with ease.

Oh, but Igor was conflicted about what was happening, he wanted to cushion his Tamiko. He wanted to be there for his Erasthai and yet at the same time he was worried that this was a ceremony that would be about him.

Maybe the King had changed his mind and was binding his son with the bastard Grealor to make it easier for them to get the Grealor lands. It was a tactic that many war Lords had used over the years but then at the same time, Igor didn’t want to think that the mad King had seen his son happy with Igor.

Surely, he couldn’t be trying to mess that up for the man and his son, right?

There had to be hope.

"I guess he is really doing it, huh?" Igor responded in defeat like all was lost and there wasn’t a thing that he would be able to do to make amends.

It was crazy how shit had gotten so harsh and so fast, but life was not always going to be that simple, it was something that Igor had long learned. But damn was it a complicated streak of unfortunate events, was this why they had fought so hard for the mates to bind?

Was this why everything was no longer making sense and why none of this seemed to be mastered in the future no matter how hard they fought for what was and what would be?

"What does that even mean?" Akila asked as he stared at the man like he had lost his mind. None of this was making any sense to him and Igor needed to find a way to decide where he stood with so many things.

The man wasn’t always a crybaby but in the past few hours, Akila had seen the Lycan Chief transform into the most brokenhearted Lycan Chief of all time.

Of course, the circumstances validated the way that Igor was feeling, but surely, he wouldn’t be that forlorn to be filling up what he thought was possible with his bonds right?

He had to try and fight for the bond that he had strived for for the longest time. He had to fight back, and he had to win.

Surely, he wasn’t about to let the relations walk away with his Erasthai just because he wasn’t sure the young prince needed an omega for a mate, right? Then again, it was not that hard choice and Igor had to have known that too.

"Are you giving up just like that?" Akila asked and Igor sighed a second time.
