Chapter 182: Pull Me Out The Train Wreck [2]
[KAWAI]
"No..." Kosta breathed in pure horror as he felt his masked scent fading.
He knew he had exerted so much pressure and magic when he tried to save his erasthai. He didn’t even think that this could have been the king’s doing or maybe the king hadn’t done anything to him.
Maybe he had just chosen to watch the mess unfold bit by bit. Perhaps that made him an insane king, or the man that had risked it all. Besides, at the end of the day, he was still the king, right?
"Tamiko..." Kosta whimpered, calling his erasthai by name for the first time since he had met him, and that was all Tamiko needed to know that his erasthai was into rubles. Kosta always used pet names with him, even when he was mad, so this had to be something else.
The realization was slowly dawning on a semi-conscious Tamiko that he felt like he was about to lose all the sanity he had left in him. This wasn’t the fate he had signed up for and she despised every ounce of it with his being.
Insanities were forgivable, but whatever was happening right now, was something that Tamiko would never ever forgive. If something happened to his Kosta, the damn Lycan kingdom would pay the price for it.
It wasn’t going to be hard for Tamiko since he was the heir to the crown and he would go after his father first. Oh, how pitiful a state it was when the father and son had just found each other and it hadn’t even been a year yet.
"Brother!!" Danny cried out for Tamiko as he watched his best friend struggle to get up. Danny wanted to break free and run to him, but the chains were holding him back and he was, after all, just a mere wolf.
"Against the Lycans, he would never win, so this wasn’t even possible. He had to wait it out and hope that his brother would get up. Then again it was an agonizing watch even for Daniel.
This wasn’t what he had signed up for and it didn’t scream to them mercy or love. This was pure torture and he hated that the king wasn’t even moving to help. What the hell was going on in King Zaffuto’s mind right now?
Ah, Danny would have very much loved to know; because he knew that no father would sit by and watch the song they loved so dearly be hurt like that. This was cruelty at its finest and boy was it heart-wrenching.
"Look at me, my precious... focus on me," Tamiko breathed as the bells rang even louder in his ears.
He couldn’t focus clearly because of the time he had experienced back in Grealor, the reminder that Tamiko needed to remind himself that the damned pack was not going to be standing like it had been once Tamiko was done with them.
He would burn them all down for ruining him to the point that now Tamiko was just but another weakling while his mate was being exposed in the worst of ways in front of him. This wasn’t what he had signed up for at any point... and it hurt.
Oh, it hurt so badly.
His entire being hurt like hell, but his conviction to get up and shield Kosta was one of a kind. He may have been falling in and out of consciousness, but he was strong enough to drag his body towards his erasthai, as the caramel scent thickened in the air.
Soon enough, the ministers got a whiff of Kosta’s scent, including the king, and unlike the king who was staring blankly, the ministers were glaring at the Lycan chief.
It was almost like this was a humiliation ritual for Kosta and Tamiko hated himself for not being strong enough. He had made a promise to his erasthai and yet he had not managed to keep it.
He had sworn that he would keep Kosta safe and let everyone smell his beautiful caramel scent.
"How pathetic," Minister Inara said as she poked Kosta with a guard’s rod. She knew that this was not something that she was allowed to do on any occasion, and now that she had the chance, she was going to see for herself where the limits lay.
The scent she was engulfing was not the simple kind and it took everything in Kosta not to growl at her.
He couldn’t, even if he tried, because he was slowly being driven back into the back of his head and the little monster that he had fought to keep hidden for the longest time was making a show.
At that moment, Inform Konstantin hated how weak he had gotten, he depside himself for not being able to fight back and he despised himself even more for not being a good enough mate for the Lycan prince.
Perhaps it was only right that he gave up, no?
"Nghh," Kosta groaned as the crude minister kept poking hard at him, trying to ruin whatever dignity Kosta had left.
Tamiko was seething.
He was not sure what it was that was keeping him sane but the anger and the fire that came with his vengeance was sitting pretty at his lips, ready to work through this shit. It wasn’t fit for Kosta.
As he looked at Minister Inara, Tamiko knew that he would take her out first. The woman was pushing Kosta to react, to say anything, to do something but then Kosta had stayed still.
Igor Konstantin’s head was bowed as he fell to his knees in defeat. He knew what people with scents like his were forced to endure and he knew that the Lycan ministers wouldn’t kill him again.
They would send him to the dungeons. And with his unmasked scent, Kosta would be the party.
He was a barbarian; more like the worst of all barbarians out there. His reputation preceded him in so many ways and it was a little crazy to even think that he could be in such a position.
He was the man who had been feared by so many and yet he was the one with a caramel scent. A scent so odd for a Lycan warrior or chief. It was the kind of scent that was associated with the weakest links of the packs and kingdoms.
Boy was it humiliating; it was an omega scent.
"No way. This is more than I had anticipated. This is just insane. How the fuck was he able to hide it all these years?" Minister Inara taunted as she kept poking at Kosta and it was breaking Tamiko’s heart.
He was tempted to seek his father out, but he didn’t know what to put him in a pickle.
Tamiko was determined to prove to this father that he could do this without the influence of the crown, that he could hold his own, after all, he had been alone for so many years and still had managed to make it through, right?
"A fucking omega scent," Minister Hyou, who had been more composed, said in a cringe tone. Then again, he couldn’t be blamed for that. An omega scent was something that many people despised.
Kosta could already see the way the lunch was judging me for what he had no control over. They were talking shit about him and the ministers were loving the turn of events a little too much.
Once again, the king... was silent.
