Chapter 149: Lonely Steps In The Daring Direction

[TAMIKO]

"I already made the call, he is coming, I know it," Gabe said to Tamiko who was staring at him with a blank face. This wasn’t what they had expected, but desperation sure knew how to mess up things for them.

Giving up the Grealor beta, one of the best warriors in the history of Grealor was madness, insanity even, but then Gabriel didn’t have a lot of options for him at the moment.

He was trying his best not to ruin so many lives because of his obsessions with Tamiko and so far, it was working out a little too well.

Perhaps there was a reason all of this was going on like this, or maybe it was because the battle lines had long been drawn and it was just a matter of time before shit hit the fan.

"I don’t see him here, Gabriel," King Zaffuto taunted, knowing so well that the young bet would make a show. but then again, there was the chance that Danny chose not to come and help Gabriel with this.

He didn’t owe the man anything, and that was something that even Gabriel himself knew of at the moment. It wasn’t a fleeting moment for the warriors who were staring at the alpha defeatedly, wondering whether this was what they had all been reduced to.

The universe was playing games with them and there wasn’t much that they could do about it. If apologies worked, Tamiko and King Zaffuto wouldn’t have been here. And even if they were to go for the apologies, a lot of time had passed.

So many hearts had been broken in the process; and more than anything, a simple apology would never make up for twenty-five years of torture that Tamiko had endured in this pack.

It was never going to be enough, no matter what scale they looked at it all from and frankly that was the scariest bit. This was never going to be enough at any point in time.

"He’s coming... please," Gabe begged and Kosta laughed at him. This was nothing like they had imagined and frankly, it was more humiliating than anything they had ever encountered.

"I’ll count to five... and if he isn’t back by the time the countdown ends, then you all are doomed," King Zaffuto said and Gabriel sighed. He had never been this reliant on Daniel Belova and he hoped to everything he held dear that Danny came to their rescue.

"Okay, sire," Gabe said as he and the wolves turned to see if Danny was here with them.

"Someone called for me?" Danny said before the king could start the count.

It is like he had been close, listening to whatever was happening before he could decide to make a show and save the day.

However, it wasn’t even about him saving the day. This was about him coming to see what the fuck was so bad with everyone that they had to call out for him. If Danny was being honest with himself, the sight that he had been met with was insane.

The wolves of Grealor were armed to the teeth, their weapons high in the sky as they tried to fight back the control that the mad king had on them.

They looked like they wanted to lynch someone, anyone, which is also a bad idea because the only people they could target were the three Lycan in their vicinity and that would be the worst of attempts in all of history.

That in itself would result in a flattened Grealor and a playground for the young Lycans who were still learning to hunt.

"Oh, thank the goddess... They asked for you, in order to save the entire pack. I don’t have a choice, and I hope you don’t decline this one. I’m sorry for anything and everything that I did that could have strained our relationship, Gabriel.

"Please... even if it’s just for now, save Grealor," Gabriel pleaded and Danny looked at him, at the Lycans, and then at the warriors one more time.

This was not something that he had planned for and it was creeping him out to some extent. Then again, it gave him the power to decide whether Grealor was flattened or if the people of Grealor lived to fight the next day.

’’What do you think, little brother? Should I help Gabriel?" Danny asked as he looked at Tamiko.

He knew vengeance was important to Tamiko. He knew the pain that Tamiko had had to endure for years on end too, which wouldn’t be fair if the king reduced the pack to rubble.

That was something that Tamiko should have been the one doing, and not the other way around. Perhaps it was how things were meant to be because, at the end of the day, choices had to be made, however insane they were.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Gabe asked Danny. He had never thought that there would come a day when he wished that the brothers were on different pages like he had today.

This was a long call for him... Hell, it was a gamble that seemed insane on so many levels and it was unsettling. But at the same time, he hoped that this was something that would save them.

"What do you say, Tamiko? Should I, or should I not?" Danny asked, ignoring Gabe and his questions. It is like Gabriel would never be the one to decide for them and it was comforting in a wild way.

Maybe because they had all been used to insanity one too many times, or maybe it is because, at the end of the day, there wasn’t much that could be done from Gabriel’s end.

"Whatever you decide, I’ll go with it," Tamiko said and Danny laughed while Gabe groaned. He had never thought that he would be playing games like this one here.

Their people were in grave danger and no one seemed to care, if anything they were having fun?

"Fine, I’ll come with you. But only because I missed you and not because of anything else," Danny said, making Gabe release a sigh of relief.

There had been so many chances for them that shit could have gone so wrong and they had managed to get out of it.

This war owed Danny, and no matter what the outcome was, Gabriel would forever remember the time when everything was in hell and his beta greed to sacrifice himself for their sake.

"Are you sure, Dniel? He just demoted you and you want to help him?" King Zaffuto asked and Danny just laughed lightly. He had met insane people and after meeting Tamiko, there was never a thing that could ever surprise him again.

"Just this once, for the sake of the people they haven’t said goodbye to," Danny said and the king sighed. He sounded like a kid who hadn’t gotten what he wanted and it was interesting to see, though a little unhinged too.

Then again, at the end of the day, they had to work together for vengeance and to make sure that the realm knew never to mess with that which belonged to the mad king, no? Or they could try some other time, sigh.

"You got your wish, not get out of here," King Zaffuto said as he released the wolves from the compulsion. It was like he never wanted to, but he didn’t have that much of a choice because the man in question had agreed to their terms either way.

"Thank you, sire. We won’t forget this," Gabe said with a bow, while the Lycans laughed hysterically. They had hoped to have more fun than possible and they had been chanced with that.

"Goddess, that was a hassle," King Zaffuto said once the wolves were out of sight and it was just the four of them. He could see the apprehension on Danny’s face and for a moment he wanted to ask what it was that was bothering him.

"Yeah, Gabriel is, sometimes," Danny said before he turned to Tamiko, his face softening.

"Why did you need me, Tamiko... I know your absent daddy dearest wasn’t the one who suggested the absurdity to Gabriel," Danny said and Tamiko started in earnest. He knew that this had been coming, but what else was he supposed to say to Danny anyway?

"Because it was the only way to save you from what I triggered in Grealor while Gabe was here," Tamiko said and Danny looked at him like he had lost his mind.

There were a lot of things that could have happened and gone wrong or even proven insane, but if Tamiko had done what he was thinking of at the moment, then the war had officially begun.

They wouldn’t even need to be here because the chaos would seek them out no matter what happened. This was the worst of things that Tamiko Hinata could have done, yet somehow, Danny was still proud of him.

Oh he was definitely proud, especially with the smirk on his face as he asked the next question.

"Did you do IT??" Danny asked, even though he could tell by the relaxed face Tamiko was wearing that he had done what Danny was thinking he had done. It wasn’t a far stretch really but damn was it a crazy-ass thing to do at the moment.

"Yeah..." Tamiko trailed off, like he was expecting a scolding from Danny.

In all that time, Kosta was watching intently, though even he knew that Daniel Belova wouldn’t hurt his erasthai. It was a given for the both of them and an assurance that they didn’t know they would ever need on this side of the realm really.

"Well fuck... let’s get out of Grealor then alright? And don’t tell me that your dad will make this better. We need to leave Grealor... now."
