Chapter 57: Old man
Chapter 57: Old man
Xiang Yu knew she wasn’t lying. Given the chance she would make Han Xin do it. She would make him parade his skewered head around town just to satisfy her sick and twisted mind. He smiled evilly, the blood on his face making him look like the devil reincarnate. His demonic nature seethed to the surface, his mind losing itself in the darkness. He raised his hand to punch her when he heard the voice of the old man in his head.
’Xiang Yu!Stand down for this emperor!’ he commanded his voice bellowing like that of a great god.
’Relax old man. I won’t kill her,’ he replied in his mind his lips quirking into a twisted smile.
"Don’t worry. I just need you passed out." He loosened his grip on her jaw, leaving behind red finger marks. With a controlled force, he knocked her out, causing her to lose two more teeth. Her body lay sprawled on the floor as Xiang Yu wiped his face vigorously with a handkerchief. He walked away, his steps brisk. He had to find the twins.
He stepped out of the tent, his presence immediately commanding attention. His oppressive aura was suffocating, making the air around him feel heavy. The guards standing at the entrance snapped to attention, their faces a mix of fear and respect. They had to pretend like they hadn’t heard anything that happened inside the tent. It was no secret that their crown prince had been obsessed with the princess of Yugi.
He had even rejected the women arranged by his majesty and even convinced the ailing king that it was for peace between the two countries. Who would have thought this Yugi princess would change face when they came to her doorstep after risking entering enemy territory? Despite being embarrassed in front of his subordinates the crown prince treated her like porcelain and let himself get hurt.
Just when the guards thought he would leave, Xiang Yu turned back with an unsettling smile that made their blood run cold in fear. He pointed at one of them. "What’s your name?" he asked, his voice cold and authoritative.
The guard was visibly confused but reacted promptly. He quickly responded, "Yu Ze, Your Highness."
Xiang Yu’s smile widened, sending a chill down Yu Ze’s spine. "Drag the princess and lock her up in a cage. Alone. No special treatment."
Both guards were taken aback. Earlier one of the men manhandled her and like a dog whose tail had been stepped on the crown prince had retaliated instantly. The man lost an arm and almost lost his head. The only thing that saved him was the fear on Princess Xiu’s face.
Not wanting to appear fierce and heartless in front of his beloved he sent the man away. That though didn’t stop her insults from coming out. She called him a barbarian savage dog with a dark heart. The entire time she spilt her venom, their superimposing crown prince looked devastated. Now he was asking them to drag the princess to a cold wet cage with no shelter from the wind and rain.
The other guard looked at Yu Ze with a sympathetic expression. Yu Ze was frazzled but he didn’t dare disobey. He nodded and moved towards the tent to carry out the order.
Xiang Yu then turned to the other guard. "Where are the twin maidservants?"
The guard, trying to hide his nervousness, answered, "In the nearby tent, Your Highness."
"Take me to—" he commanded before he was interrupted by the hoarse yelp coming from inside the tent. It seemed Yu Ze had seen the current state of the treasured princess and was too startled to contain himself. Xiang Yu’s eyes flashed with delight as he beckoned the concerned guard to lead the way.
The guard’s gaze shifted away from the tent and he led the way his legs feeling weak at the knees. Their crown prince was terrifying but his aura today was beyond that. There was a bloodthirsty aura lingering around him, an aura any man who had seen war could sense at a glance.
Xiang Yu followed behind him while having a conversation with the Heavenly Emperor in his head. He was being scolded for being so impulsive but he didn’t take it seriously. The god of immortals had no idea what would happen if the world restarted again. What if Han Xin’s soul fragment moved to another world among the vast realms? He would have to spend time searching for it; thus, he yelled at the Demon King.
’Hey old man, you really need to relax. I was just teaching her a lesson. Also, I will need this man’s memories just in case,’ he said but like a cat, the Heavenly Emperor hissed,
’Relax! You have no idea of the consequences of your actions. And stop calling me old man. You are so disrespectful.’
Xiang Yu, "???" This god couldn’t take a joke.
’Okay, then what should I call you? Grandpa maybe. Is that better,’ he replied but the old man remained silent like he wasn’t there anymore. ’Hello, grandpa... uncle... hello.’ If the old man was a system he would have informed him that he had been put in the dog house. He was being barred from talking about his kingliness.
Meanwhile, Yu Ze followed his Highness’ order to the T. Instead of carrying her, he dragged her unconscious body through the cold, wet ground. The recent rain had left muddy puddles, which dirtied Peng Xiu’s dress as she was pulled away.
When Xiang Yu reached the tent where the twins were being held captive. The guard who was supposed to be outside guarding them was nowhere to be seen. The guard escorting Xiang Yu panicked, his eyes wide with fear. He was about to rush inside the tent, but the crown prince stopped him with a firm hand.
"What’s your name?" Xiang Yu asked, his voice cold and commanding.
The guard bowed deeply, his voice trembling. "Yuxan, Your Highness."
"Leave this to me," Xiang Yu ordered, his eyes boring into the man’s. The guard hesitated, but the terrifying intensity in his gaze made him back down. He bowed once more before retreating.
Xiang Yu entered the tent, his senses on high alert. He couldn’t help but think the worst. Instead of finding the twins tied up, he saw the guard bound and gagged, with Lian holding a blade to his throat. Suddenly, he felt a blade flying towards him. He dodged effortlessly, catching the blade mid-air, his hair gently swaying with the speed of the weapon.
The twins realised it was their master and relaxed their vigilance. Xiang Yu’s expression softened slightly as he addressed Lian. "Let him go."
Lian pouted but obeyed, loosening the guard’s hand ties. The guard kowtowed repeatedly before him, his body trembling with fear. He had thought guarding two little girls wouldn’t be hard, but he was grossly mistaken. They were clearly a pair of devils with sweet faces. Xiang Yu’s gaze remained cold as he spoke. "Go." The man scurried out of the tent, stumbling and falling repeatedly before finally crawling out.
