Chapter 431: Yu Yu is picking fights... again
The hot sun bore down mercilessly upon the arena, the air thick with anticipation as the crowd buzzed like a hive of eager bees. Xiang Yu stood at the centre, his calm demeanour contrasting starkly with the chaotic energy surrounding him.
There was no need to ask why he was here today. The legend of the fighting beauty had spread across the wastelands and this man had come to challenge him. Out of pure boredom, he decided to indulge him.
Valtor loomed before Xiang Yu, a towering embodiment of brute force. He seemed to stretch toward the sky, muscles rippling under a pallid skin that looked as if it had been dusted with the ashes of fallen warriors.
His teeth were a disturbing shade of green, a grotesque testament to his savage lifestyle, and his ragged clothing bore a certain dignity uncommon among the wasteland’s people.
As he gripped the war hammer, its scarred head a monument to his experience in the arena, the air grew thick with tension. A deep, menacing growl trembled in Valtor’s chest, vibrating through the ground. "Alright, let’s get this over and done with. I have things to do," said Xiang Yu his voice calm.
"You won’t be so smug soon pretty boy. I will pummel your pretty little face," he replied his voice like gravel crunching underfoot, exuding impatience as he glared down at Xiang Yu.
Yet Xiang Yu remained unfazed. His face was serene, eyes cool pools of confidence. He didn’t flinch under Valtor’s imposing presence, standing as still as a rock while the towering brute prepared for combat.
The crowd’s energy surged, a wave of excitement from the onlookers who had gathered to witness the spectacle of beauty meet brutality. They had come to see if the pretty boy would emerge unscathed, their anticipation thrilling in the air.
In the midst of this chaos stood Lian and Mei, already deep into their betting schemes, their laughter echoing across the arena. "I bet you ten coins he will knock Valtor’s teeth out!" Lian proclaimed, a gleam of mischief in her eye. Mei raised an eyebrow, countering with a swift bet in favour of her master chopping off his arm.
The steward appeared frazzled with his greying hair a mess. He was clutching his chest as if he might fall apart at any moment. The sight of Xiang Yu preparing to face Valtor, a man nearly twice his size, filled him with dread.
"Can’t you tell him to stop?" he pleaded with Lian and Mei, desperation leaking into his voice. "He only listens to the two of you!"
Lian’s laughter rang out, light and airy, as she shook her head. "You worry too much, old man. He loves a good challenge!"
Mei, keeping her gaze fixed on the arena, patted the steward’s shoulder reassuringly. "Don’t worry, the master never loses," she said, her tone firm yet supportive.
The steward wasn’t reassured at all. He felt like he might pull his hair out, a whirlwind of anxiety swirling around him as he watched the two men sizing each other up. He could hardly breathe, his eyes darting back to Xiang Yu and then to Valtor, who loomed larger than life, ripped muscles glistening under the sun.
The moment stretched on, filled with electric tension, as Valtor dropped into a fighting stance, muscles coiling like springs ready to unleash their power. Xiang Yu’s expression remained placid as if he were standing at the edge of a peaceful lake rather than in the eye of a storm.
"Ready whenever you are," Xiang Yu said, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly.
The arena was alive with the roar of the crowd, their cheers blending into a cacophony of excitement and tension. In one corner Xiang Yu, stood there his dark eyes glinting with mischief, brandishing his plasma whip that crackled with blue energy, the tip shimmering like a living thing.
Across from him, Valtor’s muscles were taut and sinewy, gripping a rusty war hammer that once gleamed but now bore the scars of countless fights.
With a primal roar, Valtor charged forward like a raging bull, the ground trembling beneath his weight. He swung the war hammer with a force that could shatter stone, a deadly arc that sliced through the air. The audience gasped, a wave of anticipation washing over them, but before they could fully comprehend the swing, Xiang Yu’s body blurred.
In a heartbeat, he dodged to the side, leaving only a whisper of motion in his wake as the hammer struck the ground with a deafening crash that sent dust and debris swirling. Xiang Yu’s lips curled into a slow grin, his confidence palpable as he danced around Valtor, a masterful display of agility.
"Come here, you little pest!" Valtor’s voice thundered in a mix of rage and desperation, his eyes narrowing, his breath coming in heavy bursts. Each dodge only fueled his fury, turning his frustration into a more violent resolve.
Xiang Yu chuckled at the sound of light despite the chaos. "Is that what you really want? Then I will grant you you wish," he taunted, his whip flicking out to catch the air, leaving trails of energy that illuminated the dimly lit arena. In a sudden move, he feigned to the left, then lashed out with a swift kick to Valtor’s shin.
Valtor grunted, more surprised than hurt, his balance wavering as he stumbled forward. Xiang Yu seized the moment. "Let’s see how long you can keep up!" he quipped, his voice dripping with playful mockery.
In a wild fit of rage, Valtor spun around his rusty hammer now a blur. He swung again, desperation driving his attacks, each strike echoing like a war drum. The crowd gasped, each swing a show of strength, but Xiang Yu was a phantom, sidestepping blows as though in a deadly dance. The vibrant crackle of the whip contrasted with the dull thud of the hammer against the arena floor.
As Valtor lunged forward, frustration morphing into pure fury, Xiang Yu saw an opening. He ducked low, feeling the rush of wind as the hammer barely missed his head, and in one fluid motion, he countered. Pushing off the ground, he kicked Valtor squarely in the chest, the force sending the giant stumbling backwards.
Valtor flew through the air, his form a grotesque silhouette against the sunlight, finally crashing into the arena wall with a resounding thud that sent shockwaves through the crowd. Gasps turned to cheers, the audience erupting in a frenzied mix of disbelief and exhilaration.
