Chapter 408: I will be quick
"Okay, where is it?" Xiang Yu asked.
As the elevator door opened, Xiang Yu pushed the trolley out into the Imperial study. Hex guided him, "Check his bedroom where he keeps his armour."
Xiang Yu pushed the trolley to the bedroom, opened the door, and quickly entered the walk-in closet. He found the full gear and asked, "Which one is it?"
"The small green one," Hex replied.
Xiang Yu grabbed the small green device and, on his way out, took a quilt from the bed to cover Han Xin. Hex explained how the illusion device worked. Xiang Yu quickly understood and chose to disguise himself as a maid pushing a cleaning trolley. He looked in the mirror but still saw himself.
Hex reassured him, "No, you will look like yourself to yourself but appear different to others."
"Okay, if I get caught, I will blame you," Xiang Yu muttered.
"Yu Yu, I am not wrong," Hex said, a hint of worry in its voice.
Xiang Yu opened the door while Hex urged him, "Hurry, there is no one."
He covered Han Xin’s face and pushed the trolley out. Soon, he exited the Imperial Lord’s bedchambers and was met with an Imperial guard standing by the door. The guard’s brow furrowed, seeing someone other than the Imperial Lord exiting the quarters. He raised his hand, blocking Xiang Yu with his sheath.
Xiang Yu instinctively grabbed the hilt of his dagger, ready to attack. The guard asked, "When did you get in here, young miss?"
Xiang Yu was surprised to hear himself being addressed as "young miss." It seemed the disguise had worked. "Oh, it was during shift change. There was a big brother who was here before," Xiang Yu said, hoping to sound convincing.
The Imperial guard looked at the stunning young maid he had never seen before and found her pretty. He glanced at her soft skin and cherry-plump lips. Xiang Yu recognized that look. It was the exact same look those men at the brothel gave his mother and the women who worked there. His expression suddenly hardened as he said, "Can I go now?"
The guard, wanting to prolong the interaction, asked, "What happened with the Imperial Lord? Did he break something again, and you had to clean?"
Xiang Yu wanted to say it was none of the guard’s business, but Hex read his mind and warned him not to be rude. So, Xiang Yu smiled and said, "Yes."
The imperial guard said, "Oh, thank you for your hard work."
He replied, "I will be leaving," and turned to push the trolley. But the imperial guard grabbed it to stop him. Xiang Yu was about to attack when Hex intervened, "Yu Yu, you can’t."
The imperial guard let go of the trolley, apologizing, "I am so sorry. I just... may I have your contact?"
Xiang Yu smiled stiffly, showing the ring on his finger, "I am married."
The guard looked embarrassed, "Oh, I am sorry. You you may leave."
Xiang Yu gave a small smile and walked away, his expression turning serious as he pushed the trolley along.
Meanwhile, Han Zhan paced back and forth, his eyes fixed on the countdown timer that showed only ten minutes left of the two-hour window. Doctor Bai urged, "You should sit down."
Han Zhan replied anxiously, "How can I sit down? What if he got caught or something went wrong?"
Doctor Bai reassured him, "There haven’t been any alarms, so he must be fine."
Han Zhan bit his thumb nervously, "You are right."
He sat next to Doctor Bai and, placing his hand on Little Bai’s, asked, "Husband, how can you be so much calmer than me?" Their fingers entwined, and Doctor Bai responded, "I am supposed to be the rational one in this relationship, so you can be as unhinged as you want."
Han Zhan smiled, "You know how to flatter me. Come here." He pulled Doctor Bai into his arms and kissed his cheek.
Doctor Bai protested, "Stop it, someone will see."
Han Zhan teased, "We have ten—no, nine minutes. I will be done then."
Doctor Bai chuckled, pretending to push him away as Han Zhan kissed his neck. "Come on, I promise I will be quick."
But the door suddenly whooshed open, and Xiang Yu pushed the trolley in. Seeing the two of them acting all lovey-dovey, his brow arched. Han Zhan, startled, grabbed his plasma gun and yelled, "How did you get in here?"
Xiang Yu turned off the illusion and revealed himself, "It’s just me."
Doctor Bai hurriedly got up and rushed over saying, "Put him in the healing capsule."
Han Zhan took over pushing the trolley, his heart in his hand. He was so worried about Han Xin that he struggled to keep his composure. Xiang Yu pulled back the quilt, and Han Zhan carried Han Xin into the healing capsule.
As Doctor Bai set up the healing capsule, Han Zhan asked, "What did that bastard do to my cousin?"
Xiang Yu replied, "His mental power is broken. Can it be repaired?"
Doctor Bai, busy checking Han Xin’s vitals, said, "It’s still assessing the damage. It’s a good thing you brought him in now otherwise, he would not wake up."
Xiang Yu caressed Han Xin’s cheek, looking so worried and anxious that Han Zhan couldn’t help but notice, especially the ring on Xiang Yu’s hand. Han Zhan wanted to ask, but he knew this wasn’t the right time.
Doctor Bai’s fingers flew over the controls of the healing capsule. The room buzzed with urgency as he said, "Physically, he was beaten, but his injuries will heal fast. As for his mental state, though... it’s fragile."
Han Zhan’s heart raced. He could hardly breathe. "How bad is it?" Anxiety gripped his voice, twisting his stomach into a tight knot.
Xiang Yu stood by the trolley, his expression grave. "Han Xin you have to be strong. You have to wake up. I will take revenge for you but..." His voice trailed off the pain in his chest unbearable.
Doctor Bai focused intently on the readings flashing on the display. "There’s a chance for full recovery, but... he needs time. At least two weeks to recover."
