Chapter 360: Lip hickey

AN: This Chapter my writing is chaotic so please bear with me. Happy reading.

Footsteps echoed off the corridor walls, growing louder. A pair of black boots appeared, and Sienna looked up. She immediately recognized that face from Star Net. It belonged to Xiang Yu’s attendant, Han Xin. He seemed calm and approachable on Star Net but in person his presence was fierce making Sienna tremble.

"He... he is in there," she managed to say, thinking he was there to fetch inhibitors for Xiang Yu. But Han Xin didn’t reply. His gaze flicked to her lips that seemed bruised like she had just been kissed fiercely and his eyes darkened further.

Without a word, he turned and walked away. Han Xin had no idea that the princess had a habit of biting her lower lip when nervous and it had nothing to do with Xiang Yu at all. Sienna exhaled slowly, only catching her breath after he vanished from sight. She took a deep breath, struggling to regain her composure. Moments later, hurried footsteps echoed down the corridor, and her heart raced.

Leia rushed toward her, worry etched across her face. Relief flooded through Sienna like a wave. "Thank goodness," she whispered, feeling the tension ease as Leia drew closer. She was not alone anymore.

Han Xin continued to walk through the dimly lit corridor, his footsteps echoing softly against the walls. The flickering emergency lights cast long shadows. He was all to familiar with this corridor.

In his past life, he had walked this very corridor countless times, always to pick up the crown prince who would be drunk out of his mind. The back door was their secret passage, a means to shield the prince from the prying eyes of the outside world.

But tonight was different. Han Xin wasn’t here to pick up a drunken Xiang Yu. He came here because he found out that this Xiang, the Xiang Yu who had a body pillow of him and was obsessed with him was on a blind date with the princess of the federation.

Han Xin’s mind replayed the moment he had learned of this. He had been on his way back to the imperial palace when Han Zhan had informed him of Xiang Yu’s encounter with the princess. At first, Han Xin thought he had misheard, his disinterest masking the flicker of curiosity. But Han Zhan had shown him the pictures from the nightclub, taken discreetly by a host who had been following Xiang Yu on Han Xin’s orders.

In the photos, Xiang Yu lounged on a couch, a cigar pinched between his fingers, his gaze fixed intently on Princess Sienna. The princess, her cheeks flushed, seemed captivated by the prince. One picture, in particular, stood out. Princess Sienna staring at Xiang Yu’s clavicle, which peeked through his shirt.

Han Xin couldn’t recall the exact sequence of events that had led him here, to this dimly lit corridor. His mind was a haze of anger and confusion. But Han Zhan knew. He had seen the fury in his cousin’s eyes, the terrifying resolve that had taken hold. Han Zhan feared that Han Xin might kill Xiang Yu and anyone else in that nightclub.

Earlier on...

Han Zhan now believed that his cousin was in love with Princess Sienna. It was the only explanation for Han Xin’s explosive reaction to Xiang Yu’s meeting with her. But when had Han Xin met the princess? Had he fallen in love with her after seeing her on Starnet or something?

As Han Xin stepped out of the car, Han Zhan’s voice called out behind him, "I will wait for you."

"Go back," Han Xin replied coldly, not even turning to look at his cousin.

Han Zhan couldn’t bring himself to leave. He was too worried that someone was going to die tonight. The weight of his fear hung heavy in the air as he watched Han Xin disappear into the shadows, his heart pounding with dread.

He continued sitting in the hovercar, his fingers drumming nervously on the armrest. The night was still, the only sound the distant hum of the city. His mind raced with thoughts of what might be happening inside the nightclub.

Suddenly, a sharp knock on his window jolted him from his thoughts. He turned to see the Wu twins, Lian and Mei, standing outside. His surprise deepened when he noticed Princess Sienna’s attendant, Leia, standing behind them.

Lowering the window, Han Zhan asked, "What’s going on?"

Lian leaned casually against the car, her expression unreadable. "You came with Han Xin, right?"

Han Zhan’s mind whirled. How did she know he knew Han Xin? If it weren’t for his knowledge that Marshal Wu opposed the Imperial Lord, he would have been panicking. Mei stepped forward, her face lighting up with a mischievous grin.

"Hello, uncle. Can you take us home?" she asked sweetly.

Han Zhan felt a sharp pang in his chest at being called uncle. "I am only a few years older than you," he protested.

"Yeah, yeah, sure, sure," Lian said dismissively. "Can you give us a ride back? We don’t want to bother the old man. He is probably sleeping." They knew grandpa Wu would send a hovercar soon but seeing Han Zhan they couldn’t help but want to hang out with him.

Before Han Zhan could respond, Mei opened the car door and slid in, followed closely by Lian. They acted as if they were truly his close relatives, making themselves comfortable in the back seat. Just as Han Zhan was about to refuse, he spotted Leia emerging from the same door Han Xin had entered, with Princess Sienna in tow.

Unable to contain his curiosity any longer, Han Zhan turned to the twins. "What is really going on?"

Mei leaned forward, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Uncle, don’t ask too many questions."

Lian added with a smirk, "Curiosity killed the cat."

"And you," Mei chimed in, "are the cat in this situation."

Han Zhan sighed, realizing he wasn’t going to get any answers from them. He started the hovercar, his mind still buzzing with unanswered questions.

Han Xin’s POV

Han Xin moved through the silent corridor, each footfall a muted thud against the cold floor. The air was thick with stillness, wrapping around him like a heavy blanket. Suddenly, he was halted by an unexpected scent. The sweet, cloying perfume of roses flooded his senses, filling the empty hallway. Pheromones. An omega’s essence. But rather than draw him in, it sparked irritation in his chest.

He trod forward, his steps slow and deliberate, the irritation knitting his brows together. A figure appeared a few feet away. The person was beautiful, the kind of beauty that could enchant the most discerning hearts. Yet, as Han Xin drew nearer, a dark frown marred his features.

It was the princess.

His gaze sharpened, a threatening aura spilling from him like smoke from a fire. The thought of Xiang Yu meeting with her twisted in Han Xin’s gut, sharp and unforgiving. His teeth clenched, and anger simmered just beneath the surface. In indifference, he studied her, his eyes capturing the bruise that marred her lips like she had been kissed fiercely.
