Chapter 347: The gods are angry

Chapter 347: The gods are angry

Imperial Lord Xiang’s gaze was unyielding as he asked, "So, who was it in this hallucination?"

Xiang Yu put on an embarrassed look, his cheeks flushing slightly. "It really was just a nobody," he said, his voice tinged with a hint of sheepishness. "I saw a good-looking cutie with a pleasant pheromone. I just couldn’t help myself."

Han Xin, who had been listening in through Xiang Yu’s communicator, froze. His fingers, which had been rubbing against each other, stilled momentarily. He snorted softly, muttering, "Cute," before his fingers began to move again.

Unaware that he was being eavesdropped on, Xiang Yu continued, "The hallucination was that vivid. I just couldn’t help myself."

Imperial Lord Xiang’s gaze was searching as if trying to see through his son’s words. Xiang Yu met his father’s eyes, letting him probe all he wanted. After a long moment, the Imperial Lord turned his gaze away and said, "Okay. I had people spread the narrative on StarNet that your love interest is Princess Sienna of the Federation."

Xiang Yu wasn’t at all surprised by this angle. Princess Sienna had always been the trump card to join the Republic and the Federation together. His father didn’t genuinely want peace. He wanted to infiltrate the Federation and merge the two into one empire, with himself as its first Emperor.

The Imperial Lord expected Xiang Yu to resist, but instead, Xiang Yu smiled and said, "I understand."

Peng Xiu gritted her teeth. If Xiang Yu truly gained the backing of the Federation, it would make it incredibly difficult to destroy him in the future. If she failed to separate him and Sienna, she would have no choice but to kill the princess and pin it on Xiang Yu. She would rather risk going to war than let her half-brother gain immense power.

Xiang Yu twirled the fork in his hand slightly and asked, "When can I meet her?"

"Their envoy is already in the imperial capital," the Imperial Lord replied. "You can arrange to meet each other before they come to the palace for official peace talks."

"Okay," Xiang Yu said, nodding. "I will meet with her." He then continued to eat his dinner, his mind already strategizing the next steps.

Han Xin’s annoyance grew as he heard the calmness in Xiang Yu’s voice, accepting the situation with no resistance. He knew there was a possibility that Xiang Yu was just saying that to please his father, but it still irked him. That night, Xiang Yu’s teeth had sunk into his skin, marking him, yet here he was, planning to meet with someone behind his back. Han Xin couldn’t swallow it.

Han Zhan, who was disassembling a plasma rifle, sensed the wrongness in the atmosphere. He turned around to look at his cousin and immediately felt that something was seriously off. "What happened?" Han Zhan asked.

Han Xin didn’t speak for a while, his thumb lightly resting on his lip as he lost himself in thought. Just when Han Zhan thought he wouldn’t speak again, Han Xin said, "If you lo... if you like someone, would you be willing to meet up with someone on a blind date?"

Han Zhan was a little surprised by the question. He thought of the blind dates he had planned for Han Xin, all of which Han Xin had declined. Han Zhan moved closer and asked, "Is that why you declined the blind dates? Because you have someone you like?"

Han Xin shook his head. "No, am asking you. Before you were with Little Bai, but liked him, would you have still gone on blind dates even if your life depended on it?"

Han Zhan wanted to make a joke about how the two couldn’t be compared. How could someone’s life depend on a blind date? But when he saw his cousin’s serious expression, he answered immediately, "No."

Han Zhan thought back to how hard it was to win Little Bai over. Back then, there was an omega interested in him who would stick to him every time they saw him, acting pitiful and calling him "Zhan-ge" in a nauseatingly sweet voice.

Little Bai wouldn’t even look at him then and would stay far away, as though avoiding the plague. When that omega went into estrus and he helped with an injection before sending them to the hospital, he was rushed back to Little Bai, whom he had plans with. But when he reached the restaurant, Little Bai was gone.

He drove to the campus dorms to look for Little Bai. After begging, Little Bai finally opened the door. Little Bai was well-dressed and had even gotten a fresh haircut just to go on a date with him. Little Bai immediately and coldly told him that they were not suitable and that he deserved to be with an omega.

If it weren’t for him being on his knees begging for a chance, Han Zhan wouldn’t be happily married right now. So why would he ever choose to go on a blind date with somebody else and risk losing the person he loved? This was why his answer was an immediate no.

Han Xin looked at his cousin, his gaze sharp and terrifying, like he was ready to kill someone. Han Zhan felt a chill run down his spine, terrified for whomever that gaze was meant for.

Han Zhan was a little worried his cousin might do something reckless, so he asked, "Who is it you are asking about?"

Han Xin brushed off the question. "It’s nothing. Send out the information about the Raunet family to the authorities and leak the documents online."

Han Zhan was taken aback. "You want to do it tonight? Didn’t we plan on it being tomorrow?"

"Change of plans," Han Xin said as he got up and turned to leave.

Han Zhan was about to ask something else when Han Xin added, "Annihilate them."

Han Xin walked out, leaving a bewildered Han Zhan behind. Just then, a lightning flash cracked in the sky, startling him. It was as though the god of thunder had been angered and was expressing their rage.

Han Xin drove to the crown prince’s palace, the rain pelting hard against the hovercar. When he reached the palace, Xiang Yu wasn’t back yet. Han Xin sat in the lounge area, waiting for him to return.

In the meantime, he watched as the Raunet family’s lives were turned upside down. Once they were all eliminated, he would take over their secret arms manufacturing companies, which they had so dearly hidden from the Republic.

They had secretly sold arms to the enemy, rebels, and space pirates, besides legitimately supplying the Republic. Han Xin couldn’t stand greedy people, and he was all too happy to watch them
