Xiang Yu’s glare was icy, his oppressive aura filling the room. The Imperial Lord watched his son, noting the barely contained fury. He made no move to intervene, allowing the tension to simmer.

"Maybe Father should send you to the Federation to marry one of their princes, for the sake of peace," Xiang Yu sneered, his words a calculated strike.

Peng Xiu’s composure shattered as she sat up ready to fight. "Peng Xiu!" the Imperial Lord’s voice thundered, silencing her outburst. She clenched her jaw, her eyes blazing with anger as she sat back down.

The room fell into an uneasy silence, the only sound the clinking of cutlery. When the appetizers were cleared away, Peng Xiu spoke again, her voice sharp. "I heard you have a new attendant. If you have no use for Han Xin, then give him to me."

Xiang Yu’s teeth ground together. He wanted to shout that Han Xin wasn’t a possession to be traded, but he restrained himself. Taking a sip of wine, he answered coolly, "No."

Imperial Lord Xiang’s gaze sharpened. "Is this true? Did you get a new attendant?"

Xiang Yu met his father’s eyes. "No, I still have some use for him." He forced a nonchalant tone, masking the importance of Han Xin to him.

Peng Xiu’s annoyance simmered as she realized how stubborn Xiang Yu was being. She couldn’t help but retort, "Some use like what? Like what they say on StarNet?" Peng Xiu sneered and said, "An alpha with an Alpha that’s disgusting."

Xiang Yu didn’t need to respond. Their father struck the table with formidable force, his voice booming, "That’s enough!" The furniture, designed to withstand the strength of alphas, cracked slightly under the impact. Peng Xiu wisely shut her mouth, but her eyes still burned with displeasure towards Xiang Yu.

Xiang Yu, never one to shy away from a challenge, smiled at her, clearly taunting. Peng Xiu’s rage flared, but she restrained herself, plotting her revenge for later. She couldn’t wait to return to her palace and execute her plan.

After the main course was served, the Imperial Lord looked at his son and asked, "Have you taken a fancy to someone?"

Xiang Yu was momentarily startled, but his face remained impassive. He showed an amused smile and replied, "Father must be joking. I spend most of my time training and focusing on schoolwork. I really have no time to pursue anyone."

Peng Xiu let out a mocking laugh, but when her father glared at her, she stopped smiling, her expression becoming serious. She remembered how her father used to favour her more, especially when she was younger.

He despised Xiang Yu and never showed him off at banquets, until that pathetic woman, Xiang Yu’s mother, killed herself. Suddenly, their father blamed her and her mother for everything.

How was it her mother’s fault that the woman was weak and pathetic? Just a few harsh words, and she rushed to end her life. Peng Xiu truly believed that woman was unworthy of being the Imperial Empress.

Now that she was gone, Peng Xiu thought it was good riddance. But who would have thought their father would banish her mother and treat her just as he treated the Imperial Empress when she was alive?

Peng Xiu was no longer favoured, and Xiang Yu was no longer hidden. She had to compete for everything with him. Without her mother to protect her, things only got worse. Either that or it was Han Xin. But if Xiang Yu was with the omegas he sent, how was it possible that he would be into an alpha? Whoever it was, the Imperial Lord would never let them ruin his plans.

"Is that so?" the Imperial Lord said, his voice dripping with skepticism. "Then who were you calling ’baby’?"

Xiang Yu wasn’t at all surprised that his father knew about the incident in the simulator where he had been hallucinating. What did surprise Xiang Yu was what his father said next.

"It’s all over StarNet," the Imperial Lord continued, his tone cold. "The entire republic now knows that my son is in love with someone." With a swipe of his fingers, he transferred the link to Xiang Yu.

Xiang Yu pulled up his communicator, and there it was. It was a video of him calling "baby this" and "baby that" while fighting in the simulator was playing right in front of him. No wonder the lecturer had made fun of him during class.

Peng Xiu’s eyes gleamed with malicious satisfaction as she watched Xiang Yu’s reaction. Xiang Yu’s expression remained stoic, but inside, he was seething. He knew he had to tread carefully and not expose himself. His father’s in this world was hard to deal with and any misstep could be disastrous.

The Imperial Lord’s eyes bore into him, waiting for a response. Xiang Yu took a deep breath, his mind racing. "Father, it was a hallucination. Nothing more. I assure you, my focus remains on my duties and responsibilities."

The Imperial Lord’s gaze didn’t waver. "See that it does," he said, his voice a low growl.
