Chapter 233: Han Zhan freaking out

The room fell into a heavy silence, the weight of Xiang Yu’s words hanging in the air. Sister Meng’s shoulders slumped as she absorbed the revelation. "So now he likes you back?" she asked softly.

Xiang Yu nodded, his eyes reflecting a mixture of relief and melancholy. Sister Meng sighed a deep, weary sound. "Why are all the guys I like taken or gay?" she muttered, her voice tinged with resignation.

Xiang Yu chuckled softly, the sound breaking the tension. "Maybe the universe is saving that spot for your soulmate," he said, his tone gentle and reassuring.

Sister Meng’s eyes were wide with curiosity as she asked, "So he is your soulmate?"

Xiang Yu paused, the weight of the question hanging in the air. After a moment, he nodded. "He is," he said softly, the words carrying a depth of emotion.

Han Xin, who had been eavesdropping just outside the door, missed Xiang Yu’s answer. That’s because Han Zhan suddenly appeared behind him, startling him. "Han Xin, yo—" Han Zhan began, but his words were cut off as Han Xin quickly covered his mouth, making an aggressive shushing gesture. It was too late. Xiang Yu had already heard them.

"Xin-ge," Xiang Yu called out, his voice calm but firm. Han Zhan’s eyes widened in shock. Since when did Xiang Yu call Han Xin that? It had always been "Han Xin this" or "Han Xin that," and sometimes even "young master." What was going on?

Han Zhan gestured wildly at Han Xin, silently asking what the hell was happening. But Han Xin just smiled, a goofy grin spreading across his face, and walked into the room.

Han Zhan exclaimed saying, "Are you fucking possessed?" That smiled sent goosebumps all over his body.

"You haven’t left yet?" Xiang Yu asked, his tone neutral.

Han Xin pulled Han Zhan into the room with him. "I was waiting for him," he explained.

Han Zhan, trying to mask his excitement, blurted out, "Little Bai is giving me a tattoo."

Han Xin shook his head. "You can get it done when we get home. Right now, we have to go."

Xiang Yu nodded, spinning his chair around to face his work. "Okay, see you later," he said, already focused on his task.

Sister Meng lay on her belly, trying to make herself as inconspicuous as possible. She had to admit that a possessive man was more terrifying than a ghost. The tension in the room was palpable, and she didn’t want to draw any attention to herself.

Han Xin, feeling unsettled, pursed his lips before walking over to Xiang Yu. Without warning, he spun Xiang Yu’s chair around and planted a firm kiss on his lips. Xiang Yu’s eyes widened in surprise, but he didn’t pull away.

Han Zhan’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. He was so shocked that he didn’t even remember how he walked out of the tattoo parlour or how he got into the car. It wasn’t until Han Xin started the engine that he found his voice. "Ah-Xin, you—you—you...what the fuck!" Han Xin just chuckled, the sound low and amused, as they drove off.

Han Zhan’s complexion looked like he had seen a ghost. He couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed. He had just seen his cousin kissing someone, and a man at that. Ever since they had known each other, Han Xin had never shown interest in anyone. He had been confessed to countless times, and each time, the brave women would leave in tears.

Han Xin was harsh in his rejections, so much so that one woman had cursed him never to find love. Han Zhan had never believed in curses, but Han Xin had remained single and disinterested for as long as he could remember. So, what had he just seen? He couldn’t help but think he was hallucinating. That had to be the only plausible explanation.

Han Xin parked the car in the underground garage, and just as he opened the door to get out, Han Zhan stopped him. "Ah-Xin, did you just kiss Xiang Yu, or was I hallucinating?"

Han Xin didn’t answer immediately. He just stared at Han Zhan like he was looking at an idiot. Han Zhan ruffled his hair, muttering, "I knew it, I should lay off the cigarettes. Why else would I think I just saw you, the monk of the east, kiss a man?"

Han Xin’s eyes grew colder, and when Han Zhan met that gaze, he froze. "Fuck, you really did... but just now you were so angry that you wanted to beat him up," Han Zhan exclaimed.

Han Xin interjected, "When did I say I wanted to beat him up?"

Han Zhan was struck with sudden realization. He chuckled nervously, "No way, you were jealous."

Han Xin opened the car door and stepped out, unwilling to continue the conversation with someone he deemed to have a low IQ. Han Zhan swore under his breath and followed him. He was like a parakeet, unable to stop talking. In the elevator, he asked, "How long has this been going on?"

When the elevator doors closed, Han Xin sighed, "We just kissed for the first time."

Han Zhan screamed in surprise. Han Xin, exhausted by his cousin’s antics, said, "If you have any questions, ask them now. Once the elevator doors open, you are not allowed to ask me anything else."

Han Zhan calmed down and asked, "Who initiated the kiss?"

Han Xin looked at him, exasperated. "Is that necessary?"

"Yes," Han Zhan insisted.

Han Xin sighed again. "I did."

Han Zhan’s eyes widened in shock. "You... you did?"

Han Xin just stared at him, clearly at his tipping point. Sensing this, Han Zhan quickly asked, "Okay, okay, then how long have you had a crush on him?"

"I don’t know," Han Xin answered honestly.

"So, you two are dating now?" Han Zhan asked as the elevator doors opened.

Han Xin stepped out, ignoring the question. "Come on, cousin—" Han Zhan started, but Han Xin turned around and glared at him, effectively silencing him. Han Zhan made a gesture of zipping his mouth and throwing away the zipper.

Satisfied, Han Xin turned to walk away, only to be greeted by Peng Xiu, who had been waiting for them. "Xin-ge, you seem to be in a good mood. Did something good happen?"

"Don’t call me Xin-ge," Han Xin commanded, his tone icy. When Xiang Yu called him that, it felt good like his soul had been touched by something sweet but when she called him that, he was so irritable. He had told her countless times to stop, but she never did, so he gave up. Now he just wanted only Xiang Yu to call him that. He would do anything to hear him call him that again.

Peng Xiu was startled. She looked at Han Zhan as if to ask what was happening, but Han Zhan made another zipping-his-mouth gesture before following Han Xin into the office.
