Vampire: World of Blood -
Chapter 188 188: Merciless Vs David
Author's Note:
Hello everyone! If you've made it this far, congratulations—we're approaching the conclusion of the Exam Arc. There are about 20-30 chapters left, possibly fewer, until the start of the "Vampire Society Arc" (also known as the Training Arc).
As we dive deeper into the world of vampires, you'll notice they may seem overpowered on the surface. However, within vampire society, this strength is viewed as typical, much like how humans see one another's strengths. This perspective adds a unique, almost cosmic quality to their abilities while keeping the balance within the narrative.
And for those interested, I haven't forgotten my promise: I will post the remaining smut scenes, including one featuring a specific theme as requested. Also, if you're interested in supporting the project or influencing future smut chapters for Season 3, feel free to join me on Patreon!
Thank you for reading and supporting the story!

With blinding speed, Merciless moved through the mountain range. As he neared, three figures came into view, locked in combat.
His vision, once clouded by veils only the world itself knew, was now stripped; all illusions bare, laying only the truth starkly before him.
Ahead, he could make out two men and a single woman, two Michellians and a lone Nosferatu, fully transformed bringing him up to level status, the fight was unfair by all means, as even an army of level 4 cannot dream of taking down a single level 5 by typical means.
Their auras screamed their strength to him: all level 4s. The Michellians fought with the fury of vengeance, desperate to bring down the last Nosferatu responsible for their fallen comrades.
"The Michellians... they're seething."
Merciless murmured, feeling their layered rage. He saw their memories from here and witnessed firsthand from their point of view; their leader's sacrifice, a brave and powerful Michellian Elder who had given everything to eliminate the Nosferatu leader.
"Valhalla halls would surely await her."
Merciless said instinctively... as if he already knew where her spectrum of vampirism would end up.
Despite not knowing what Valhalla was, all truths layered bare before him; or truth that was within his grasp.
It was strange, he mused.
Their fury felt so familiar as if their pain was an extension of his own. These Michellians were true warriors. He could hear their cries, almost as if they were calling out to him, pleading with him even.
Or rather it was their blood that resonated with him on a very deep level.
"Though I am not their father, I am their Prince."
He whispered.
"And I cannot ignore the agony of my people... especially when I could feel Valhalla glare on this world as if the very concept watched them from where they stand."
"If the other plane beckons them, they have earned their place... that enough tells me of their quality... fine warriors indeed."
His thoughts simmered into anger, a blazing miasma igniting around him, thick and potent, an unrestrained manifestation of his wrath.
The miasma warped reality itself, bending space and time around Merciless in a twisted distortion. The Antithesis essence burned fiercely, an unsettling presence against the natural order.
"Do we destroy... or do we punish?"
Merciless asked aloud, but the question was not for himself. He was addressing the voices within, a question of weight and consequence, posed to the fragments that shared his soul.
Or in this case his immaterial heart.
Then, he heard them, like echoes rising from deep shadows.
"Destroy… destroy… leave not even ashes behind."
"Whatever it takes, we end him; that filth has no place in this world."
"Destroy, of course. The sins of that Nosferatu weigh too heavily. Killing it is the only true satisfaction."
Another voice chimed in, chillingly calm.
One he was familiar with among the new voices that speak in his head.
"Finality demands it. Torture would only feed it hope. Annihilation is the only answer in this case, for that will drag it to despair."
"Yes, destroy it."
Agreed yet another, voice dripping with disdain.
"Eww... What an ugly creature, the poor thing is clearly begging for release, just put it down already, or its ugly looks will put me down more than I already am."
Hundreds of voices echoed within Merciless mind and immaterial heart, each expressing its verdict. This shared conversation, one of chilling unity, lasted mere seconds. But in those seconds, Merciless heard them all clear, resolute even. The collective had spoken, binding their wills to his in a surge of subjective destruction, a force born of their sheer loathing for the Nosferatu before them.
Hundreds of voices resonated within Merciless, each delivering their verdict. This united conversation, one of terrifying oneness, lasted only seconds. Merciless, however, heard them all clearly and resolutely in those few seconds. The collective had spoken, linking their wills to his in a wave of subjective devastation, fueled by their utter hatred for the Nosferatu before them.
The power was visceral, its essence anchored in three unbreakable convictions:
Belief in his death.
Belief in his downfall.
Belief in his total annihilation.
And as this new, subjective power surged within Merciless, the enemy sensed it too. With two centuries of battles etched into his instincts, the Nosferatu felt the shift, a familiar dread he felt earlier washing over him. He recognized Merciless's aura instantly.
Even the other Michellians felt it, as the connection tied them to his presence like a river meeting a sea.
"Tsk... another one... you Michellian are worse than a colony of wasps."
Announced the Nosferatur in clear annoyance, and equal frustration.
The Nosferatu, bald-headed and boasting a massive orange beard, wore a monocle over his left eye. Yet it was no ordinary monocle.
The truth came before his sight once more, as they told him the secrets of the enemy he so desired, every cell in his body snitched on him.
Merciless sensed the power of his ichor behind it, an ichor that was named "Shattered Options." This strange power lets the Nosferatu manipulate glass, using his monocle to emit, shatter, absorb, teleport, or even create distorted reflections of past events to weaponize against his foes.
Entire phenomena from other realms seemed within his grasp, drawn forth by the device. A godlike power for sure, but not one without limits, nor is it unbeatable.
The Nosferatu's wings were unlike any natural appendage, consisting of sheets of refracted light that he absorbed from the aurora above. The aurora, a living organism of unimaginable immensity, was too massive for even Merciless' sight to properly comprehend; a spawn of the lineage of the corporeal, or that was what his eyes told him, but not the information of who or what Corporeal was.
But one thing is for sure, that Aurora above them has a presence so overwhelming that it overshadowed everything before it. Through his ichor, the Nosferatu wielded a dreadful power, borrowed as it may be, with his wings, it had a power that could gnaw at the psyche, inciting primal terror in anybody who approached, or was even touched by its reflective light.
But this Noseratu was like an open book in front of Merciless' eyes; his name was David Ioda... of the Idoa family, he was from a lesser noble of knights who served Baron Miguel; he was 234 years old, straight, and had a fetish for face sitting... useless information like this came to Merciless' mind, but it was not the information he sought.
He saw it: there were just approximately 50 seconds left before his transformation ended, and he reverted to a level 4 vampire. As he has limited time, he has made a wise decision to go out all right now.
Yet Merciless's presence instilled its own terror in the Nosferatu, who shifted his attention from the Michellians. His intent had been to destroy their minds with a single, corrupting thought emanating from his wings, a fate they could not survive even as peak level 4s. But now, his focus turned fully to Merciless.
With a flick of his wings, which lashed out at the two Michellians like twin whips of light, and using his ichor to magnify aspects, he was able to conceptually amplify his kinetic output by 3,500 times.
The overwhelming force struck them both at an unthinkable level, propelling both Michellians out of sight with the force of a planet traveling many times faster than light and crushing them both into the ground far beyond grasp.
It was now or never for the Nosferatu, as it was only Merciless and the Nosferatu facing off, another prudent move on the Nosferatu's part. Being outnumbered here would mean definite death.
"Tsk… another level 5... Just my luck!"
David muttered, annoyance lacing his tone. He cracked his knuckles; before fixing his crystal monocle in place, the faintest grin tugging at his lips right after.
"No matter...
He arrogantly said, for him to finish with.
"I'll kill you... and collect your points...
With those words, his aura exploded, a dark force pouring from him like a storm. He thrust his hand forward, fingers spread wide, and in a low voice he incanted:
"Living Reflection."
He said out loud, like a decree to an attack.
Scarlet light flashed through his eyes, casting the world in front of him as though through a crimson mirror. The light thickened, refracting as it bled back into the air, twisting and solidifying into a familiar shape.
Emerging from the scarlet glow was an exact replica of Merciless, every detail mirrored with haunting accuracy, his dark energy pulsing with a lethal echo of the original.
David grinned, feeling the weight of the new threat beside him. He'd need to take things seriously.
"Let's see you handle yourself."
He murmured.
With a monstrous burst of speed, the scarlet clone rushed toward Merciless, a perfect reflection of him, matching both his power and controlled fury. The doppelganger's face held the same steady intensity, an unsettling mirror of Merciless himself.
David, watching from below, grinned, lifting his hands as he commanded the fractured sky above. Reality itself splintered where he pointed, fragments of the world around him cracking apart like shattered glass. The clone lunged, hurtling toward Merciless, who spun midair with fluid precision, evading the attack.
Yet, the reflection moved in sync, shadowing every shift as though reading his mind.
"Hmmm, one might not be enough... might as well summon all then."
And so said.
And as such, so was done.
David's eyes shifted up, tracking the shards overhead. Within moments, the fragments twisted and reformed, creating kaleidoscopic patterns in the sky, shimmering with the chaotic energy of his weird ability that was charging up.
David with his summoned reflections of Merciless, each wielding roughly seventy percent of the original's strength, a calculated edge that he had to exploit fast, and towards Merciless nonetheless.
All five clones surged at Merciless with relentless intent, flames of dark miasma trailing their every movement. They had absorbed not only his power but also the calm, simmering anger Merciless felt, burning with a shared rage, potent and unforgiving.
As they closed in, Merciless faced them in silence. Time itself seemed to slow, not due to speed but by sheer force of will. At that moment, it was as though he and time shared an understanding, a quiet pause that held reality itself suspended.
The world stilled around him, every detail etched with perfect clarity in his mind.
The clones loomed closer, but Merciless saw the truth within them, the fractured threads of power that tied them to David's will. His ichor, his essence, had been copied, or rather it was being reflected back, but like light, not all of its beings came back, hence the power of these clones was not perfect.
But not its depth or the unique layers within his true power. The reality before him revealed its secrets, and Merciless saw through the imitation as if he was reading from his own reflection.
With a single, focused glance, he unraveled their existence, and his eyes glowed blue as a result, slightly but nonetheless.
His eyes held an unspoken command, bending the clone's borrowed truth back to nothingness. One by one, the copies dissolved, their forms splintering into particles that faded into thin air, leaving only Merciless, singular, and unchallenged, hovering in the sky.
David stumbled back, his eyes widening in shock as he processed what had just happened. Not even a second had passed, and yet his strongest reflections had been obliterated without a single hit landing on Merciless.
"Wha—WHAT!"
He stammered, horror filling his gaze as he saw Merciless, unscathed and unfazed.
Seventeen seconds.
He needed seventeen seconds more to charge his ultimate attack.
But before he could react, Merciless descended upon him, closing the distance effortlessly; so fast David himself didn't realize Merciless moved till it was too late.
David's attempts to hit his ultimate attack were rendered null. Reflective Counter, a power that breaks through the fundamentals of space and time by intruding upon numerous curtains of existence fazes, allowing him to split them apart to a minimal degree and view reflections of other worlds from wherever he was, and most pick randomly when the charge upstart to cast for the summon, much like a gacha machine.
With this power, he could summon an entity or weapon perfectly attuned to counter any, and all opponents; hence it was a power that could kill even vampires entire levels above; if he had good luck.
However, the power required twenty seconds to fully charge, a lifetime in a battle like this.
Merciless understood immediately. His eyes scanned David's kaleidoscopic array, seeing the fractures, and understanding them. With a silent command, he treated the ichor ability that was before him as mere obstructions.
The kaleidoscope released a vast amount of energy, shattered in that moment, collapsing back into nothingness; for its truth was reset.
But then right after that, it happened.
David's right arm exploded in a spray of blood.
*GLRSHRPPPPLLLLL!!...
"Ugh.. Raaah...hghahhh...
David screamed, his pain evident.
Treated as an obstruction of flesh, his cells exploded upon Merciless will and were simply removed from existence.
Naturally, David tried to heal it, desperation flaring in his eyes, but to his terror, his regenerative power had ceased to respond.
"Wh...why won't it heal?!...
He said eyes open, fear seeping.
Frozen in shock, David stared up at Merciless, the realization dawning on him that this final gambit had already failed.
"... You smell good...
Merciless said, as the scent of fear... his acquired taste; was starting to leak from David's being like an anxious vapor... who looked at him in terror.
Hunger overwhelms him at the scent of blood; hunger so profound, it affects even the collective.
David's eyes open up at Merciless menacing words, more or less catching on to the cruel intent behind that predatory glare of his, as he looks at Merciless, backing away, holding his now unhealable hand.
"STAYYYY AWAY...
He shouted as he began backing away, floating further away from him in that instant.
The fear in him, reached very potent levels, to the point it was tangible before Merciless eyes, which opened up wide at the negative energy coming off him, naturally, he devoured it. And it tasted good, very good
"Mhh, so good!"
Merciless savored the taste of such rich, malevolent energy; pure, dark emotions, and twisted ideas. It was energy tied to the darker side of emotions, raw negativity at its core. This energy could corrupt and alter the perceptions of others, gaining power by inflicting pain or wrongdoing to fuel and empower the user.
He could even feel his Haliber devouring the energy alongside it, after all, there is enough fear to pass around.
Merciless naturally began to float closer towards the enemy; or at this very moment his food.
It was only obvious to receive a negative response from the Nosferatu.
"I SAID STAY AWAY FROM ME YOU BASTARD!!...
He shouted, his wings shooting out like a quickly expanding forest of high-speed whips toward Merciless.
It cut through the air at high speed, faster than what even a peak level 4 could possibly dodge.
Thin as veins but dense and corded, each tendril is more durable than the surface of a planet. Hundreds of light-like appendages whipped out in Merciless's direction.
In response, Merciless's own Black Tail lashed forward, mirroring the aggression. The tips of each tail blade transformed, fanning into great, gnashing jaws, their head became that of eyeless dragons, teeth made from the chimera armor plating, and black fire emerged from their mouth, Miasma surged forward at an unforgiving paste.
All nine heads, as strong and as durable as Merciless himself, make this body, with the strength and firepower of nine level 5 vampires, for each tail can use Merciless abilities at the fullest capacity.
Each tail was at Lower Level 5.
The benefit of a shared body, a shared existence, what one vessel cannot make up for the other one surely will, that was his chimera physiology.
Hence fort, wings of light and tail of flesh met one another.
Their impact shook the area around them.
However just as Merciless tails were not normal, so too were David's wings.
As they clashed, David's fear-fueled wings of reflective auroras of madness surged through from the nine black tails to Merciless in an instant, a powerful aura that gnawed at the mind, a corrosive force designed to overwhelm any who stepped within range of their touch.
An unending barrage of nightmares; vivid and horrific, each more real than the last, flooded Merciless's mind, an illusion so powerful it could shatter even the strongest level 5 vampire's sanity in an instant, leaving them defenseless and on the brink of madness.
For Merciless, only a single second passed, yet in that instant, he was haunted by a million years of torment. Blood seeped from his eyes, his face twisted in horror as pain and dread seeped into his being. His eyes, bound to see the truth, made it all the more agonizing.
This wasn't David's power alone, the auroras surrounding him belonged to something far beyond either of them, something colossal. David's power had merely allowed him to harness the presence of this immense being, using its boundless existence as a weapon.
However this power only affected Merciless, and not black tail, nor his immaterial heart, and in that moment, the collective responded to Merciless's pain, as hundreds of voices began to call out from within, reflecting the collective belief of their will outwards into the external world, and Merciless mind itself.
"Deny...deny... deny.... deny... deny... deny.... deny.... deny... deny... deny... deny.... deny... deny... deny... deny... deny... deny... deny... deny... deny.... deny.... deny... deny... deny... deny.... deny... deny... deny.... deny.... deny... deny... deny... deny.... deny... deny... deny.... deny.... deny... deny... deny... deny.... deny... deny... deny.... deny.... deny... deny... deny... deny.... deny... deny... deny.... deny.... deny... deny... deny... deny.... deny... deny... deny.... deny.... deny... deny... deny... deny.... deny... deny... deny.... deny.... deny... deny... deny... deny.... deny... deny... deny.... deny.... deny... deny... deny... deny.... deny... deny... deny.... deny.... deny... deny... deny... deny.... deny... deny... deny.... deny.... deny... deny... deny... deny.... deny...
In a relentless, rhythmic mantra. The corrosive fear was potent; Merciless felt his own thoughts blurring under its weight. But the voices united, pulling his mind back from the edge. As their chorus grew louder, he drove his own thoughts to break free from David's induced madness, willing away the horrific visions clawing at his sanity, albeit for a moment, but that one moment was all Black Tail needed to fix the main vessel.
In one final effort to purge Merciless free from the horrific inflictions of his corroded mind, his being only holding on, for his own mind was constantly regenerating from within, for the mere fact his being should be shredded to nothing, far gone to be saved. Yet Merciless was a vessel for nothingness, mistaken for an aspect, within his being, a piece of the Unwoven existence surges, healing and regenerating his mind from that very nothing it found itself.
Black Tail, used one of its new powers, a magical nature... all the teeth went from black, back to neon blue.... as the voice of a female spoke through a manifested mouth, hidden inside one of the tail's mouths.
Naturally, this was the voice of Black Tail...
"Freeze Mind...
The moment Black Tail said that a blue light flowed from its being to Merciless, and in that moment... Merciless... seem lost... or rather, his body loses control, he enters a force Yanam. Yet despite entering into a hibernation state where his mind was completely frozen in time itself.
His body remains active... auto-pilot mode was activated for the first time, naturally in case the main body shuts down, the sentient parts will take the wheel in place for the original for whatever reason the main body could not.
But, furious and defenseless, Merciless couldn't retain control henceforth orders could not be met; as such; triggering a frenzied state within black tail. While parts of him were infected by madness, the fragments of sanity left were encased behind a barrier of time, healing slowly in isolation.
David watched in confusion, eyes widening. Those light tendrils had been his trump card, the final fallback if all else failed. For a fleeting moment, he believed they had worked. But reality, as always, could disappoint.
Merciless's tails began to swell, fusing into a single colossal serpent. Its jaws opened, revealing a portal to an unknown realm. David's blood ran cold at the sight, stretched within, an absolute void where even stars had ceased to exist. An overwhelming sense of dread overtook him.
His instincts screamed, and without hesitation, he turned and fled north, accelerating past the speed of light in a desperate escape.
"Shit I need to retreat, my time is already up... I can't die he...
*STABBBBB*
"Ha...
"And where the hell do you think you are going you bastard... did I give you permission to leave... tsk she audacity I tell you."
At that moment, a familiar voice echoed in David's mind, laced with irritation, bordering on fury. Glancing down, he realized his stomach had been pierced by a razor-sharp object he could not see, but whatever it was, also stopped all his built-up momentum.
"GHRAAA!!...
Blood spewed from his mouth, this wound also refusing to heal at that moment.
Blood dripping from the wound. Despite being thousands of miles away, Merciless stood in the distance, his half-healed form glaring intently, his presence palpable even across the great divide.
As Merciless's voice resounded in his mind, the very laws of nature seemed to shift, as they began to turn on David.
Suddenly, an Aether portal opened behind David leading him back right to Merciless if he goes through it, and Merciless's gaze bore into him from within on the other side deepening his dread.
David trembled in fear, as a powerful gust of wind, dense and unrelenting, pressed down on him, wind pressure so immense it defied all logic. Even the laws of momentum turned against him earlier as every ounce of speed he'd gained was abruptly neutralized, leaving him utterly powerless in the face of Merciless's wrath.
At this moment, Merciless mind was about 74% healed, and the madness was still there, he could only see one way to purge it, but before that; he was going to kill this annoyance.
As such the wind that turned against David pushed him back into the Aether portal, bringing him right back from where he once flew.
And then closed behind him, leaving David before a pissed Merciless, and at this moment, the momentum behind the movement didn't exist for David either; so he could not move.
David his eye only allowed one point of view, and that was the mouth of the great serpent, open its mouth.
"Nooo, please...
But Merciless did not listen, and nor did he care for his please, as such not allowing for him to say anything else.
"... Tsk... annoying, just die already...
"NOOOOOO!!!...
In a single, fluid motion, the massive serpent crashed down upon David, jaws wide and fangs glinting. It swallowed him whole, snapping its mouth shut as Merciless directed it toward the Death Dimension.
Knowing David carried enough souls to resurrect himself 23 times, Merciless deemed it fitting to send him somewhere he could 23 times, a grim punishment for his earlier audacity.
And like that, the battlefield became quiet once more.
Leaving only himself.
But it was far from over he could still feel his evolution taking to him, there was still so much he could do, but first, he needed to purge the insanity inside his mind, as such, using the finality magical nature inside Black Tail, which is connected to the Collective.
He began to erase the final moment of his body, resetting him to a state before the End that is the now.
"Full Body Reset."
Merciless said.
And the moment he said that the entire concept of his body and everything in it, reset back to 1 minute and 3 seconds, as such the effects of the Aurora were cleansed from his being, although he looked confused as he asked.
"Hmmm, guys... how did we get here?...
Asked Merciless.
And the collective replied.
"Hmmm strange, when did we get here."
A Randsom shagoth said, and another one replied.
"I don't know... although I felt like my finality was used, although I don't know for what... and on what; I just know it's been used...
And then another one spoke.
"Hmm strange, so we just randomly end up here then?"
"Yeah most likely."
"Mhm we just ended up here, no damage was done to the vessel so it's not important anyway."
The voices of the Shagoths were ever present, on the other hand, Merciless looked at Black Tail and questioned.
"He do you remember what the hell happened... I feel like I am forgetting something, or rather I have no clue how we got here, only that I need to find stronger opponents."
However Black Tail is just as confused as Merciless, as it shakes side to side, to express that it doesn't.
"Hmmm... weird... oh well; this place suddenly went quiet... I could see other battles happening, but they're mostly between level 6; I don't feel confident fighting one of those yet... not when they are in a group like that at least."
And then, that was when it happened, a portal randomly opened up before Merciless eyes, and he could sense a lot of powerful people on the other side.
"Just my luck...
And without caring what was on the other side, he flew right through.
