27: Chapter 27: What to Eat for Dinner 27: Chapter 27: What to Eat for Dinner With his feet on the sand, looking at the deserted island ahead, Wang Yan showed a smile on his face.

Although the island in front of him was called a deserted island, for Wang Yan, it felt like coming home.

The entire island was covered with lush greenery, with countless birds flying in the sky above the green forest.

Although it couldn’t compare to the deep mountains Wang Yan had lived in for eighteen years, it was pretty similar.

Wang Yan laughed as he walked toward the depths of the island.

Following closely behind Wang Yan, Ouyang Feiting looked at Wang Yan’s confident demeanor and thought angrily, “Keep showing off, keep showing off.

Wait until a day later; let’s see how you continue to show off.

There’s no fresh water, no food on this island—just wait to be thirsty, hungry, and frozen to death.

Hmph, you’ll be my slave for sure.”

As they walked farther, the yacht left the shore, anchoring several nautical miles away from the island.

This allowed them to keep an eye on the signals from the island while preventing survivors from sneaking back to the boat.

The island wasn’t large.

After half an hour of walking, they passed through the dense forest and reached the foot of the small mountain at the island’s center.

Initially behind Wang Yan, Ouyang Feiting quickly stepped forward as they reached the mountain base, getting ahead of Wang Yan, and climbed onto a flat rock over a meter high and about half a square meter in size.

Ouyang Feiting threw her backpack onto it with a satisfied smile, indicating to Wang Yan that this rock belonged to her now.

Ouyang Feiting had undeniable reasons for occupying this rock.

Because Ouyang Feiting had visited this island multiple times, undergoing three months of survival training here.

She was very familiar with the island, and this was the only flat rock around.

This rock was both flat and dry, standing over a meter high, making it a perfect spot against invading mice and insects.

Taking this spot was half the victory.

Ouyang Feiting sprayed perfume on the rock, knowing mosquitoes hated it.

With the fragrance, she’d sleep well that night.

She opened her backpack, taking out a bowl, digging a hole into the ground, and partially burying the bowl.

This was Ouyang Feiting’s method to get water; in about an hour, she’d have half a bowl.

Then, she took out a piece of rope, making a loop and putting it in the grass.

On this island, food was scarce.

With luck, she might catch a rabbit; if not, she’d have grasshoppers or other insects to eat.

Having finished, Ouyang Feiting sat on the rock, resting.

On a deserted island, conserving strength was crucial; rest whenever possible.

Sitting, Ouyang Feiting began to wonder about Wang Yan, having not seen him for a while.

Ouyang Feiting immediately looked around, searching for Wang Yan.

Upon seeing him, she smirked coldly.

Wang Yan was running wildly across the island, sometimes stopping to gaze from the mountain slope, other times climbing tree tops, never idle.

Ouyang Feiting had seen people like Wang Yan before.

Just watch them have fun the first day; by dinner when hunger hits, their morale plummets.

At that moment, Wang Yan stood on the mountain top, laughing, “Haha, there’s a hot spring up here!

Fantastic, I can take a bath!”

Suddenly came the sound of Wang Yan undressing and jumping into the water.

Hearing this, Ouyang Feiting felt even more contemptuous.

She knew about the hot spring for a long time.

Bathing would drain one’s energy.

Hungry later with nothing to eat meant suffering.

Yet Ouyang Feiting thought: This made it easier for her to win.

Wang Yan would soon admit defeat.

Then he’d follow her orders; she’d leash him like a dog and bring him to the Beiming house, shaming Beiming Xue profoundly.

Feeling more triumphant, Ouyang Feiting watched as darkness fell and a bright moon rose.

Wang Yan finally descended from the mountain top.

Despite the hot spring bath, he looked refreshed.

Yet, as Ouyang Feiting predicted, Wang Yan rubbed his stomach, saying, “I’m a bit hungry; I should find something to eat.”

Wang Yan approached Ouyang Feiting.

Ouyang Feiting gave Wang Yan a sidelong glance, “Let me tell you, what you find is yours.

No cheating, or you lose.”

Wang Yan shrugged, “So that’s the rule; I was going to invite you for a feast.”

Ouyang Feiting sneered, “Stop trying to win me over.

If you can eat enough, consider yourself lucky.”

Saying so, Ouyang Feiting stood, leaving the rock, walking to her rope loop, hoping to boast rabbit catch to Wang Yan.

Sadly, Ouyang Feiting found the loop untouched, catching nothing.

She sighed; catching rabbits depended on luck.

Turning away, Ouyang Feiting noticed a hole on the ground.

“A cicada larva nest!” She was delighted; finding them was fortunate.

Not as tasty as rabbits, but enough to stave off hunger.

Squatting immediately, Ouyang Feiting dug with her hands, uncovering cicada larvae hidden beneath the soil.

Carefully, she took them out, carrying them in hand, proudly returning to the rock, raising them for Wang Yan to see.

But Wang Yan hadn’t even glanced at her.

Ouyang Feiting hurriedly said, “Haha, tonight I’ve got a delicious treat; it’s fresh and tasty!”

Picking some twigs to form a grill, she lit them with a match, roasting the larvae.

Soon the cicada larvae sent out a tempting aroma, filling the air at the mountain’s base.

Ouyang Feiting took them with twigs, blowing them at her lips, saying, “So fragrant, truly fragrant!”

Originally, Ouyang Feiting thought Wang Yan would drool over the aroma, looking particularly pathetic—made her feel good.

But looking around, Wang Yan was nowhere to be found.

“Hmph, he must be hiding from embarrassment.

Never mind, I’ll fill my belly first.”

Ready to eat the roasted larvae, Ouyang Feiting saw Wang Yan emerge from the woods, grumbling, “This island is barren, nothing good to eat.”

Ouyang Feiting felt happy, “Now you realize it’s not a buffet island?”

Feigning delight, Ouyang Feiting raised the larvae, “So fragrant, truly fragrant!”

Then Wang Yan lifted his hand and muttered, “Oh well, let’s just eat this tonight.”

Ouyang Feiting widened her eyes at the sight: Wang Yan was holding a half-meter long, fat bird.
