Chapter 62: Ch.62 The Battlefield(2)
Baron watched all of this with narrowed eyes; he could see that Lily was succeeding in holding them back.
Although Karma and Angelia’s attacks are destructive, they can’t effectively stop Lily’s attack. The only good thing is that she didn’t expand her range of attack too far.
This was mostly due to the Rainbow crystal mine, as too strong of an energy has a chance to destabilize the mine and make it explode.
Although the chance of such a thing happening is low but it is not zero. If such an explosion occurs and if this is a mid-level mine or even a low-level mine, then the explosion can create a crater with a radius of a few hundred thousand to a few million kilometers.
"It seems someone is free~"
Baron’s eyes narrowed as Lily’s voice was heard from behind, his muscles bulged as without even looking back he punched out with a fist covered in fist internet.
What greeted his fist was a large tree root that had crept out of the ground underneath him with a poisoned tip, moving at him.
His punch and the root collided as a crashing sound was heard, the root’s tip wasn’t even able to pierce his skin in fact the massive roots shows signs of cracking and was blown to smithereens.
Broken wood pieces moving at the speed of sound and beyond were flown out, creating a small danger zone.
Baron was in his fully ready state as he punched downward, destroying the newly sprouted root that grew beneath him.
His fist didn’t stop as he continued to punch the newly growing roots, in just a moment he was surrounded by hundreds as he looked at them with solen eyes.
He understood that he couldn’t destroy them completely, so he had to make sure to use the least amount of energy possible.
"Hmm, not just stalling but also exhausting us, is that her plan?"
Baron muttered but wasn’t completely sure of it, after all he knew an opponent like Lily wasn’t someone to be taken lightly of.
But he couldn’t understand why she wanted to be the enemy of all sides, although there is an issue of trust as long as a deal is made, she could make a deal with a faction and slowly destroy the other two.
Of course, that cooperation doesn’t include his side as the beastmen and human alliance can not join with the lords for now.
"No matter, I will just make plans according to the situation."
Baron sighed as he cast his gaze to the wider battlefield, a battlefield where blood was raining as the giant roots covered in blood harvested life left and right.
Although top powerhouses like him could deal with these roots, there is no way that low-level Ascension ranks and below to have an easier time with it.
"All Beastmen and Humans, group up and create a defensive formation. Try to conserve your stamina and life."
After giving his last order, he was consumed by a sea of roots as he got busted trying to get the title of the greatest deforestation expert.
Baron’s orders were swiftly spread throughout the battlefield as all humans and beastsmen tried to follow them without fail.
The angels and the undead had received the same order, so from the sky one could see a large group of people moving toward a single location with a larger group while the roots are following them.
With each swing of the roots, all those who failed to dodge were turned into paste as their body was melted due to poison.
The beams of elemental energy fired by the roots could be seen throughout the battlefield, as some large groups barely blocked it whereas some pierced under its light.
There were also enough strongmen who could deal with one or two roots, especially among the angels, as they had done the most damage to the roots.
Their orders from their commander, Angelia, were to group up and do as much damage to the roots as possible.
In this way, they can quickly consume Lily’s energy and end this farce. Angelia could be seen as a leading figure in this, as she travelled throughout the battlefield like a battle goddess with each of her swings destroying hundreds of roots and any soldier that was unlucky enough to be nearby.
Karma, on the other hand, is putting on a defensive show trying to minimize his consumption but also maximize Lily’s consumption.
His orders for the undead were to use their numerical advantage to sacrifice a certain number of weaker undead to consume Lily’s energy.
All three factions almost had the same goal: the goal to wait it out until Lily’s energy runs dry. This is the only way to victory for them currently.
After all, they can’t return as doing so would be the same as giving the mine to Lily.
Inside the tree, Lily wiped the sweat from her forehead as she watched the battlefield using the water mirror she had conjured.
Such a large-scale magic isn’t easy for her, even with her large energy pool, just a single second of this magic almost consumes 90% of her energy.
If not for her domain and it’s energy regenerative she wouldn’t have been able to put on such a show.
But even with that, the constant consumption of energy has increased the strain on her body, with the current rate she should only be able to hold for five or six hours before her body gives out.
Plus, adding the domain’s consumption to her maximum energy on the fall so after six hours she would be as defense less as a chicken.
Although she could have used a less energy-consuming method but she wouldn’t have been able to maintain this status quo.
In fact, she could have created a temporary pact with another faction, like the angels and undead. In that case, her party would have had a superiority in fighting force as the beastmen faction would never make a lord.
But she could never do that, not because of her pride, after all, if it meant winning glory for her lovely lord, she could throw away her pride for a moment.
The reason for her not forming a pact with the other faction was due to Neo’s order. Even if it would be advantageous for them Neo didn’t have much trust in other lords and felt that the chance of betrayal was high.
Although there was a chance that they wouldn’t betray, Neo didn’t want to bet when he himself had a chance of victory, even if this path may involve greater risk.
Well, she isn’t worried as she feels like six hours is enough time for Stella to enter the battlefield after inspecting all the territory.
After all, as a sister, she is aware of Stella’s ability and somewhat superiority to her, even if she gets jealous of the fact that her lovely lord pays more attention to Stella than her.
"Hump, Just you wait sister. I will become my Lovely Lord’s favorite ~"
Lily muttered as she focused her attention back to the battlefield.
"Hmm, Annoying."
Angelia muttered as she destroyed another hundred roots with her spear. She looked at the massive tree where she was trying to reach with a frustrated look.
These roots are too annoying for her, although they can’t harm her they can hold her back when she isn’t using her full strength. If she went all out there is a chance she can reach the place where Lily was resting and attack her.
But this would also consume a lot of her energy, and if Stella enters the battlefield during that period her ending would be fixed.
"I can’t allow this stalemate to continue for any longer."
She muttered, she knew if she didn’t do anything, then she would just be falling under Lily’s plan. Her attention shifted toward the battlefield.
Her gaze passed the giant cannon made of roots that was trapping Baron, her gaze rested there for half a second before moving toward its next destination.
It was the position where Karma was, looking at him playing defensive her eyes narrowed. Karma seems to feel her gaze as he also looked at her direction.
Both of their eyes met as they narrowed their eyes; they never liked each other. Not just because of their faction being on opposite positions but also because they both are vanguards of their respective army.
They have clashed on more than one occasion, so they can’t be said to be old rivals who thirst for each other’s blood.
Their gaze lasted for a while as Karma understood the meaning behind Angelia’s gaze. Being her old enemy, he had a great understanding of her.
She was telling him to group up and rush toward the trunk of the tree where Lily was resting. Under normal circumstance, he would have scoffed at her idea of teaming up but todays situation was special.
So he just nodded his head as both of them turned their gaze toward the trunk of the tree, or more specifically, Lily’s position.
