Chapter 149: I’ll take that as a no
"I had a good sleep, Hyung." Min-Cheol said, his face sparkling as he felt rejuvenated, unlike me who looked drained.
I looked at him with twisted lips, judging him because he was the one who asked us to come see a movie.
He was also the one who picked out the movie, and he picked randomly because he had no recommendations, thinking anything was fine, but still, he fell asleep.
"Having Jo-Pil next to me always puts me at ease." Jin-Yeok added his face equally sparkling and I gave him the same judging glance with my lips twisted.
These two, they made it so uncomfortable for me but I couldn’t even blame them for it.
I exhaled and smiled anyway. It’s not like I had a choice.
"I’m glad I could put my masters at ease," I said, smiling like it was a profession I had to do to get paid and not earnestly.
Come to think of it, it was indeed a profession because I got paid for my smiles. Huhuhu, the thought of it was suddenly making me feel good.
I had a lot in my account already but there was no such thing as having too much money.
In fact, I wanted it to rain down money.
"Are we headed to the spa now?" Seo-Jun asked and I broke out of my fantasy, turning around since he was standing behind me.
Ah, here was another who sucked out my energy without even needing to come in contact with me.
His eyes... Those red reptile pupils that kept digging into my skull the whole time... I should definitely poke them one day to make up for today.
But I won’t be partial today, in hopes that he does things that beat my expectations like he did earlier. Since I wasn’t getting back at the rest for ruining the moment then I won’t get back at him.
"Yes," I answered. "Do you know the address?"
Seo-Jun looked at me skeptically. What?
I looked at the others who had a rather surprised expression on their faces.
Huh? Was it strange that I was talking to him?
They were making me out to be some kind of bad guy.
I placed my hand over my mouth in a fist and cleared my throat with my eyes closed.
"I’ll take that as a no." I said and turned to Jin-Yeok. "Master, will you show us the way?"
"Of course." Jin-Yeok answered, feeling delighted, and took light steps toward me. "Would you like to ride with me?" He asked, placing his face close to mine but Min-Cheol pulled me back by the shoulder and said,
"Don’t think about it." Min-Cheol said and hid me behind him. "Hyung came with me so he should ride with me."
"But you don’t know the address, do you?" Jin-Yeok asked.
"You can just tell it to us and we’ll drive there." Min-Cheol said, an irk forming on his forehead as he felt pissed that Jin-Yeok was trying to steal me from him.
I lightly palmed my face, shaking my head as I sighed.
They were being such kids. In the end, we were all headed for one destination so why couldn’t we just take one car?
Suddenly another hand pulled me by the shoulder.
I looked up and saw Seo-Jun.
"If you two are going to waste time bickering instead of coming up with the simplest solution," he said to the other two. "Then I’ll do the honor of stealing him away."
"What?!" They exclaimed while I looked up at him.
If he wanted to steal me away as he said, he wouldn’t announce it. So, did he do this so they could get over their argument?
He was starting to confuse me.
"I guess we can take the same car." Jin-Yeok said, smiling warmly.
Seriously, he knew that solution all along. Why did he have to go ahead and argue it out with Min-Cheol?
"Sheesh, you’ve all lost your minds." I heard Seo-Jun exclaim while staring at them.
Yeah, they’ve definitely lost their minds.
"We’ll all ride the same car then."
We got in one car. Seo-Jun called shotgun (the passenger seat) while the three of us sat in the back with me in the middle.
It was comfortable, except when they started pressing closely. There was a lot of space but they wanted to get into ’my’ space.
It made me sigh. I needed to breathe too, you know.
"Jo-Pil," Jin-Yeok asked and I raised my head. "Let me tell you about my spa."
Two minutes later...
"So, you’re saying that your spa doesn’t just have baths and saunas, but there are other fun things to do, like karaoke rooms, swimming pools, and restaurants?" I asked, my eyes lighting up in excitement.
Yeah, I wasn’t exactly an outdoor person but the thought of this place made me so excited. It sounded fun.
I wanted to do all that, except visit the swimming pool, hopefully.
I don’t know how to swim and just thinking about it reminded me of the sea I visited. I suddenly got a fear of deep waters.
"Did you get excited after hearing that?" Jin-Yeok asked and I nodded frantically.
"Yes, yes. It sounds so exciting." I said. "Let’s hurry up and go."
They both stared at me and then laughed.
"What?" I asked. Was I being out of character? But I was just so excited.
"It’s nothing, Jo-Pil. You just seem... Happy."
Was I? Well, I guess I was. But if he said this now then did it mean I never looked happy before?
I guess most times I was just trying to give them what they wanted and wasn’t exactly smiling from my heart.
Did they notice? I covered my face with my palm, acting shy. Did they notice that the smile I have been putting up till this moment had all been a facade?
I hope they hadn’t and just thought this moment was simply different. I hoped...
I raised my head and my body slightly froze as my eyes met Seo-Jun’s eyes from the rearview mirror.
He was staring at me so intently. It was as if he was trying to see through me. As if... He knew.
