Trapped In A Novel As The Breeding Mate For Four Powerful Alphas -
Chapter 131: Gosh, this was killing me
Chapter 131: Gosh, this was killing me
Okay, so reading and writing were both two completely different things. It was longer to write than it was to read. I think I should’ve appreciated the authors of those masterful pieces more.
"What’s taking so long?" Seo-Jun asked for the fifth time and I clutched the pen harder.
"I was never much of a writer." I said to him. "So, if you give me some time, I’ll get this third Chapter ready."
He didn’t look pleased by that.
"It’s taking you this long to write a book? Is it because you’re trying hard to fabricate nonsense?" He asked and I sighed.
"If you’re doubtful, then take a look for yourself." I said, pushing the book towards him and he sneered, preparing to read something bad.
I had a very retentive memory when it came to books and if I liked a book, I’d make sure to read it over and over.
And for this one... I remembered every single detail.
"This is..." Seo-Jun frowned and looked up at me.
What? Was he displeased? I was sure that this book was not in this world. I even searched for it with my phone just now.
"Why does your handwriting suck?" He asked and an irk formed on my forehead.
He made me worry for nothing.
"Haa, just forget the handwriting." I said, waving it aside. "What do you think of the novel?"
"Married to the devil’s son?" I nodded. This could be considered plagiarizing but at least I wasn’t doing this to sell, right?
Oh, great author, please pardon this naive reader who’s only trying to survive in this world.
"Well, I don’t know. The name is kinda tacky." Seo-Jun said and I felt even more irked.
How dare he call a best-seller tacky?
"Just read it." I demanded. "Haven’t you heard the phrase, Don’t just a book by its cover? Don’t judge from the name alone and just read the damn book!"
He scoffed at the sight of me going mad and then began to read it.
I watched his expression to see if he was enjoying it but I couldn’t tell anything from just looking at him. He had a serious expression on his face as his eyes talked from left to right and then over and over till he was done with the first page.
He turned to the next page and continued.
I got a little bit anxious but no word means good news, right? At least he didn’t hate it for him to stop reading right away.
Judging from his character, he’d have flipped and said the book was trash if he hated it. But I can’t just say that because I don’t know if he was the type that judged books by their first paragraphs.
I looked around.
For someone who had read so much, I’d like to believe he never judged the books he read from their first paragraphs.
Gosh, this was killing me.
And then, Seo-Jun slammed the book in front of me, looking at me with a deadly gaze.
So, did he hate it after all?
"I... I have other books in mind. So if you don’t mind, I can start another--"
"I need the rest." He suddenly cut me short.
"Pardon?"
Wait, had he finished it already?
He looked at me seriously and deadly, but that deadly gaze wasn’t because he was dissatisfied with the content of the first few Chapters; it was because, as an avid reader, there was nothing more disappointing than a great book with very few Chapters.
He was mad that he may need to spend a long time before getting to the end of this novel.
"If... If you can’t wait for the rest, I can simply narrate--"
"No!" He cut me short once again. "Where’s the fun in that? I’m a reader, not a listener. So you’ll write it all down." He tapped on the book. "Right now."
I breathed out softly.
This man... Was he asking me to write down a book that took the original authors months to complete in just one night?
He was asking the impossible from me.
"I can’t," I said to him and he frowned.
"What?"
"I can’t write it down in one night. I’m still recovering, remember? I need sufficient sleep. I need to rest too. If you want me to spend all night writing this novel..."
"What about it?" He just didn’t care. He wanted the novel, and he wanted it at that moment.
"I’ll just keep writing till it’s dinner time and after dinner. But I’ll go to sleep once it’s ten." I said, picking up the pen again.
It was almost time for dinner anyway.
"I want the whole volume." Seo-Jun demanded but I shot him a glare and said,
"You’ll get it when you get it. I’m not a writer, okay? I can only do so much."
"You should’ve thought of that before you made this offer." He said and I bit my lip.
He was so unreasonable. Why was he so passionate about books?
I know patience isn’t exactly the strong suit of a devoted reader but still...
I frowned. I couldn’t work myself to the bones for him when I got into this deal because of the trick he played.
I’m the one losing out here. I’ve got a life to live too, you know. A life that does not involve spreading my legs, that is.
"Okay," I sighed. "Okay, okay. Let’s have a little time out."
"You’d have written two paragraphs by now." He said and I glazed my eyes at him.
"Then, allow me and stop trying to distract me." I opened the book and sighed once more.
I won’t be starting a new book for him anytime soon. I just can’t. All the books I read are so long and I’m certain that I’d be wasting my life writing for him if I were to go ahead with our deal.
I need something in return for all this. I can’t suffer in vain.
’I probably shouldn’t bring up Heaven’s story.’ I thought as I twisted my lips, writing away.
Seo-Jun watched me with his face resting on his chin. He probably couldn’t believe that I was telling the truth.
An exciting book that no one in this world had ever written or read. How did I get it? He would never know.
But at least he got to read it.
