Trapped In A Marriage I Never Wanted -
Chapter 41: Gloomy Day
Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Gloomy Day
Victoria decided to visit her husband’s office before lunch. At this time, Victoria acted professionally when dealing with her husband so that the project he was working on would run smoothly. After all this was over, she decided to leave her husband.
The moment her feet stepped into the CEO’s room, she was immediately greeted by a cold stare from her husband. Somehow her husband’s attitude could be cold, whether he was holding a grudge against her or not. Was this related to work issues too?
"Victoria, what were you actually doing in Amber’s office so early in the morning that you were gone for so long?"
Victoria smiled politely as she turned on her laptop. "Matthias, can we be professional while we work?"
"I was being professional just now. I was looking for you in your office earlier to discuss work matters. But you were gone to Amber’s office for too long. Is it true that you only returned the dress to her?"
"It is true that my purpose in coming to her was only to return my dress. Is there anything else I can talk to her about?"
"The dress incident, I’m investigating it. You better not ask Amber to interfere in this matter!"
Hearing her husband defend his greatest enemy, Victoria laughed in annoyance while shaking her head. "I thought at a time like this you would still protect your friend. You don’t even know that she is the perpetrator."
"Do you have any evidence that she is the perpetrator?"
"Even if I have evidence, you will still protect her instead of me."
Matthias folded his arms. "You better tell me the truth. Have you been acting like this since last night because you heard what my mother said?"
"No. Why would I listen to your mother? You’re the one who forgot about our business from the start. I never wanted to marry you!"
The atmosphere in the room was getting tense. Matthias was reluctant to continue the argument that had hurt him again. He had suspected that his wife hated him again because she had overheard his conversation with his mother. However, he tried to hold back his anger and maintain his professional attitude now.
"Okay, I won’t talk about personal matters anymore. I want to discuss the project first. Actually, I saw some of your designs yesterday."
"Actually, I am a bit doubtful about the results of my design. Maybe you can give me some advice, as my business partner."
In the middle of discussing with her husband, her eyes became increasingly teary because she actually couldn’t bear to keep her distance from Matthias. What she was doing now was different from what she had promised Amber before. They sat close together on the sofa. Then, Victoria also really liked hearing her husband’s tone of voice which was always gentle and calmed her chaotic mind. Can it be concluded that she was starting to like her husband?
"Victoria, what’s wrong with you?" Matthias asked, looking at his wife with pity.
Victoria wiped her eyelids that were starting to get wet. "I’m fine. I’m just a little tired."
Matthias didn’t want to ask any more small talk. His thumb gently wiped her wet eyelids and then hugged his wife’s body.
"You’re not okay. If you’re angry and sad, you should let it out."
"Matthias... I really hate you. Why are you still being nice to me when I hurt your feelings again?"
"Because I am only nice to women who are nice to me." His lips landed on his wife’s forehead for a few seconds. "I won’t hate you just because you suddenly act cold to me."
Victoria let out her broken tears, because the only person who could see her cry was her own husband. Although she actually didn’t want Matthias to know what she was going through right now, at least only Matthias always loved her sincerely. This was what made her hate herself. Should she still maintain this marriage even though everyone didn’t approve of their relationship?
"I won’t ask you about your problems anymore. Once you’ve calmed down, we can continue discussing work again," Matthias suggested gently.

After discussing with his wife, Matthias called his best friend to meet him because there was something important he wanted to discuss with his best friend. His gaze was blank as he stared at the city view from the window. His right hand was clenched tightly as he stared at his best friend.
"Sawyer, have you gotten any additional information regarding the incident at Amber’s welcoming event?"
"Actually, I haven’t received any more information. But, I think it’s a bit odd. Why isn’t there a CCTV camera installed in that venue? Wouldn’t a luxurious venue at least have a CCTV camera installed?"
"So you’re going to assume that Amber is the culprit?"
Sawyer shook his head quickly. "No. I can’t just accuse her of something like that when we have no proof."
"If Amber is the culprit, then I will not forgive her. How dare she betray me using this cheap trick!"
"I don’t want to assume anything. It’s just that as your best friend, I want you to keep your distance. Actually, I’ve been sick of seeing her face for a long time. She’s not a good woman."
"If your hunch is correct, then I will listen to what you said."
"Matthias, for the sake of your relationship with Victoria, don’t be easily influenced by Amber. She is the sister of your enemy."
"But, Victoria also comes from my enemy’s family. Do I have the right to hate her too?"
"It depends on your true heart. If you want Victoria to truly love me again, then you shouldn’t be too close to Amber. Moreover, your wife experienced that disaster at your own friend’s party."

On the other hand, Victoria returned to her office to continue working on her work. It was almost lunch time, this time she did not want to have lunch with her husband. She preferred to have lunch with Jennifer because Jennifer was the only friend she could talk to.
drrt...drrt...
However, who would have thought that Matthias’ grandfather would suddenly contact her. She had not spoken to Matthias’s grandfather for a long time, so she missed him very much. The grandfather invited her to have lunch together, but she was forced to cancel lunch with her friend.
