Trapped In A Marriage I Never Wanted -
Chapter 30: Friend or Enemy?
Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Friend or Enemy?
Victoria rounded her eyes, staring at her dress that was torn suddenly. Actually she was curious about who the perpetrator was who tore her dress suddenly because many people gathered walking past behind her. Her eyes began to tear up looking at her favorite skirt that was damaged, now she did not dare to appear confident attending this meeting.
Amber rolled her eyes and immediately hugged her enemy’s shoulders tightly. "Oh my! Your dress is ruined, Victoria!"
"I think I have to go home now. I’m sorry I can’t be here until the party is over."
"Don’t go home now!" Her right hand immediately grabbed her enemy’s hand. "I bring a spare dress today. I actually wanted to change into my dress for the closing ceremony, but you needed it more."
Victoria shook her head quickly. "No need."
"Don’t be shy. Since you are Matthias’ good friend, of course I should treat you with respect too."
In the end, Victoria could only nod along with Amber’s suggestion. She followed Amber to the dressing room.
It just so happened that she bumped into her husband, which made her act even more awkward.
Matthias’s gaze fell on his wife’s dress, which was torn at the bottom of the back. "How did you get your dress damaged, Victoria?"
"Actually, someone ripped my dress. But I have no proof of who did it."
Amber smiled sweetly at her best friend. "Matthias, I’ll lend my dress to Victoria. I bring a spare."
"Okay, then I’ll be counting on you, Amber. Victoria doesn’t deserve to look like that."
"Then, I’ll accompany Victoria to change clothes first, okay?"
Victoria and Amber enter the women’s locker room. Amber grabs a paper bag for her enemy.
"If I look at your body size, it’s the same as mine. It shouldn’t be too tight."
Victoria took out a white mermaid gown sprinkled with beads. For her, this dress was too beautiful for her who had always looked simple.
"Thank you, Amber. I will return it to you as soon as possible."
"No need to rush." Amber took out a familiar necklace that made Victoria’s eyes narrow. It was the scarlet heart necklace that Matthias had shown her before.
Victoria felt her chest begin to tighten. It could be concluded that Matthias had lied to her before. She still remembered her husband saying that the necklace would be given to the winner of the participant who managed to collect the most trash in the charity event later. However, she did not expect Matthias to give the rare necklace to Amber. At first, she wanted to trust Matthias again, but her hopes were increasingly lost because this time she had proof that Matthias had truly betrayed her.
"Isn’t that a scarlet heart necklace?" Victoria asked, deliberately making small talk to test Amber’s answer.
"Do you know this necklace?" Amber said, feeling the ruby necklace.
"Of course, this necklace is very rare. Not everyone can get it."
Amber smiled slyly. "I didn’t expect to get this necklace from someone either."
"Did you get it from your boyfriend?"
"No. You could say I got it from someone who was almost my girlfriend."
There was no need to ask more details about who the person was. Victoria couldn’t stand to hear it. Now she changed her clothes first before she was further embarrassed by all the guests at this party.
Only a short duration, her appearance now wears a white mermaid gown like an angel falling from the sky. Due to wearing a dress that is quite excessive for her, she keeps her head down while lifting her dress gracefully.
Amber’s reaction was stunned looking at her enemy’s appearance while clapping. Actually she did it not sincerely because she was very upset seeing her enemy become more shining than her.
"You are really very beautiful and look good in this dress."
"I think this dress is a bit too much for me. You are the star of the show."
"It’s okay. I’m actually more worried about you. Your appearance should be more important than mine. Your dress is ruined, and you’re a woman and you shouldn’t show your ugliness."
"Thank you for caring about me, Amber."
"If a friend needs help, of course I will help." Amber helped her enemy zip up her dress.
"By the way, why don’t you wear the scarlet heart necklace? It really suits you and your dress is red."
"Because I feel like it would be too much to wear that necklace just for this simple event."
"If I were you, I would definitely show off that rare necklace to everyone."
"No need. I’ll wear it on a more special day." Her hand gripped her enemy’s hand enthusiastically. "If you’re ready, we can go back to the venue now. The event will start soon."
This time Victoria appeared confident walking towards the venue while lifting her rather tight dress. Actually she didn’t like the mermaid gown model because she couldn’t move freely. However, because Amber had good intentions to lend her the dress, of course she would wear it well today.
When she passed her husband, she was very disgusted to see her husband’s face that always looked sweet. Even for her, that sweet face was just a mask to cover up the rottenness. Now she didn’t care what her husband would sweet-talk her. What was important was that she wanted to divorce her husband who betrayed her secretly.
"Victoria," Matthias called with a worried look.
"Matthias, now I want to ask you a question. You must answer my question honestly."
"Okay, I’ll do it right away."
"Do you think this dress suits me?"
Matthias narrowed his eyes. "I don’t think so. You look very uncomfortable in this dress. Especially considering your body language, you keep touching the skirt, you must have trouble moving freely."
Victoria didn’t expect Matthias to be so sensitive to such a small thing. However, that didn’t mean she immediately forgave her husband after lying to her yesterday.
"There is one last question for you. I hope you will answer honestly too."
"What question is that?"
"Is it true that the scarlet heart necklace was given to someone else during the trash collection competition?"
