Transmigration: Lady Chi Woos The Ice cold Professor Jun -
Chapter 65: Troublesome flowers.
Chapter 65: Troublesome flowers.
Chi Lian who had yet to notice their astonished glances continued unboxing her flowers and herbs.
Grandma Meng had joined the two Jun family women in looking at Chi Lian like she was an extraterrestrial being. How did she bring all these precious flowers and herbs back? Screening at every airport or toll system in the empire was very strict to prevent people from smuggling such precious items.
The fritallaria alone were rare in the world. Some research centers would pay millions to get their hands on them and she had two in her possession. She had peonies which were valued by the empire. They were symbols of royalty and seen in the capital mostly.
The yellow and red chrysanthemums on the table looked fresh and beautiful. The dendrobium was wild and fat.
"Chi-Chi, how did you get these things here?" old madam Jun asked. "Do you know that you took a very big risk transporting them?"
"Yes, Chi-Chi, the nation prohibits private ownership of fritallaria." He-Weili told her. Her voice was anxious and alarmed. If the special department for smuggling knew, she would be arrested.
"We need to inform the department of agriculture; I will tell them the flowers were discovered under my authority and hand them over." The old master said.
Their anxiety was making the Chi family anxious.
"Just destroy them." Mama Chi suggested and the Chi brothers agreed with her.
"You cannot simply destroy such a precious flower." Grandma Meng and the Jun women disagreed.
Jun Muyang looked at the panicking family ridiculously. Did nobody in this room remember him? His connections in the empire run deeper than theirs.
"Stop panicking, I will take care of this."
"Madam, there are some visitors outside, we tried to stop them from coming in and failed." The butler announced with shame on his face.
"What!" Mama Chi questioned. What kind of visitors just barged into someone else’s house?
Everyone turned their eyes to the entrance where the state minister for security Su Changming and two of his guards came marching in. Tang Siming, his wife and their child followed as well. Commissioner Bolin was the last to enter the house.
"Well, this can’t be good." Chi Lian muttered.
The minister’s eyes had gone straight to the table, his eyes lit up like a Christmas light and then he looked at Chi Lian like a fox. This was leverage over her.
None of the Chi’s dared to address the minister. Bolin went and took a sit next to Chi Wei his longtime friend. Tang Siming and his family were reunited and they huddled together in an embrace of happiness.
"Minister Su, I would say it’s good to see you but we don’t know why you are here." The old master addressed him.
"Hmm..." the minister responded. Rumor has it that Jun Muyang is dating Chi Lian, your presence here confirms it because you are the patriarch of the Jun family after all."
"That doesn’t answer my question young Su."
The minister raised his eyebrows, "You cannot use age to suppress me patriarch Jun."
"But I can use my authority to do so." Jun Muyang intervened. "She is not to be touched."
The minister frowned unhappily and stayed silent. He looked at Chi Lian unhappily.
"She must hand over the gun." He insisted.
All eyes turned to Chi Lian. Why did she have a gun?
"It’s not going to happen."
"I have the authority to arrest you if you don’t hand it over." He threatened. The gun was technology that would benefit the nation. In his opinion, it was selfish of her not to share such technology with the empire.
"And I can move my family to another empire and hand over all my technology to them." Chi Lian threatened as well.
The air between the two was charged with hostility. There could only be one victor in this battle of wits. She was valuable to the empire; they would not risk allowing her fall into the hands of another empire.
"Fine." The minister relented. "But I want the powdered substance you applied to the knives."
"I will only provide one sample in a medium sized container. How you choose to disperse it is none of my business. You should know by now that all my little projects are limited in quantity because of the rarity of ingredients and cost of research."
"I understand, now we should discuss the items on the table. How did you get them into the country?" he asked curiously. He knew she had gone through C city on some kind of super speedy motor cycle because her passport was used. If possible, he would confiscate that motorcycle as well. They had never seen one so fast like that.
"That is my business. I don’t think it concerns you."
"She used a helicopter which delivered all the items to me." Jun Muyang lied. The minister could investigate all he wanted but the only information he would find is that a private helicopter delivered something to him. The details were not recorded.
"You can take the fritallaria; nobody is going to stop you." Old master Jun provided a solution he thought would be best for them all.
Chi Lian was alarmed. There was no way she was allowing anybody to take anything precious from here without paying.
"Hang on grandpa; he has to pay me before taking it. Do you know what I went through to get my hands on the flower? I almost did grandpa, it’s not fair.’ She squeezed a few tears out pretentiously.
Jun Muyang new the little minx was scheming something and he smiled.
"Mother, tell the maids to squeeze some apple juice for the guests." She whispered. "And also, the chef should prepare lunch using the ingredients I brought."
She was planning to feed the minister and delay him as much as possible. It was the only way to squeeze as much money from him as possible.
Her mother and brothers carried away the food stuffs.
"T4 put that gigantic snake in a storage box and put it in my room."
Jun Muyang noticed that Bolin was looking at Chi Lian like a piece of meat and he pulled her down to sit next to him. This man was not here for business, he was here for Chi Lian.
"Honey, our daughter is hungry." He said very loudly and unnecessarily.
"Our daughter!" Bolin looked at the two of them unbelievingly. Chi Lian’s child was Jun Muyang’s child, since when? He thought she was a single mother.
"Yes, our daughter." Muyang emphasized the ’our’.
Minister Su was shocked as well. No wonder the entire core of the Jun family was here, there was a child in the picture.
"This explains a lot." The minister said.
"Mei-Mei, do you want to meet uncle?" Chi Lian asked. She stood up and thrust the child into the minister’s arms.
The minister who was caught unawares looked at the child awkwardly. Her innocent wide brown eyes and toothy smile were very charming.
"Unknown men should not carry girls randomly." Muyang rebuked her and took his daughter forcefully from the minister.
"I wanted her to get a red packet." Chi Lian whispered.
Mama Chi and two maids returned with glasses of apple juice which were distributed around the room.
"This tastes good." The old master was impressed.
After finishing his juice in three sips, the minister requested for another glass and leaned back in the chair comfortably. Chi Lian smiled. The more comfortable the minister was the better for her.
"The flowers will be taken by the government. There is no bargaining."
For the next thirty or forty minutes, they argued over the flowers and finally it was concluded that the empire would pay her sixty million for her troubles.
"Uncle that is not enough money, let me show you proof that I almost died getting those flowers. I risked my life." She said pitifully.
Two bodyguards approached them with a large storage box and they opened it.
