Chapter 580: I can be clingy too.
Muyang returned home in at night to guests who about to leave. His brother too was here, with his wife Cherry, helping themselves to a bottle of one of the rare wines from his cellar.
"What are you doing here?" he slowly asked his brother and took his son from Ringo’s arms.
"I came to see your new house and pick a bedroom, after all you are my one and only brother, your house is my house and likewise."
From a distance, Chi Lian could hear the loud sneer Muyang gave his bother after hearing his response. When the two were together, it almost seemed as if the older brother was the younger one.
The older brother was often found of saying and doing things which the younger one found to be ridiculous. People who did not know the two brothers or witness their behavior when they were together often assumed that they were not very close. This was mostly attributed to the fact that they rarely appeared in public together.
"You should remember to replace my wine." Muyang spoke softly to his brother, in a voice that equal parts exhausted and serious.
"Ho, little brother, don’t say such things in front of my Cherry." Ringo pushed his wife in front, and she promptly smiled at Muyang. "You still owes us, for your information."
"Brother-in-law, I did not receive a gift from you and sister-in-law after I joined the family. This bottle can be my first gift and we can discuss the others later." Cherry delivered the line she and her husband had practiced.
"Others," Chi Lian slid over and joined her husband and the shameless couple in the dining room. "You two are out to blackmail us, our gift is on the way, it’s just taking time."
The gift in question was an RV like hers, as suggested by Muyang since Ringo loved it so much. T4 however said that that particular RV was not available in the system mall. She was considering getting another one, not as magnificent as hers but better than the ones here on earth. But an RV like this took time to be manufactured and assembled in the real world which is why she was delaying.
Also, she needed points to purchase it, even though Muyang had given her money, it would not work in the system mall.
"Sister-in-law, what is this I hear about a party for Wu Liang on a yacht with a few fans and many celebrities. I want to be the official photographer for the party, where do I apply?" Cherry smoothly changed the topic from the bottle of wine to something else.
Ringo jumped on it, encouraging her to give Cherry a chance because she was an expert.
Chi Lian poured the rest of the wine into a bottle for Muyang while the couple that drunk most of it made their escape.
"He is acting as if he cannot afford it," Muyang said and he chuckled as they watched his brother and his wife pick up their jackets, and wave from a distance before leaving, escaping quickly.
"I think he found himself a wife that is quite similar to himself in behavior." Chi Lian commented. "It’s time you admit that I was right about them being perfect together."
She placed her face between her two hands, and smiled knowingly at him. "Wife, you were right." she said, "Say that to me hubby."
He bent his head downward, making sure that his mouth brushed past her cheek gently before whispering in her ear, "Wife, you have something stuck stuck in between your teeth."
Wide-eyed, Chi Lian covered her mouth and glared at him, then she stood up and took off running upstairs, to their bedroom.
Muyang remained where he was, chuckling as if he had just heard the world’s funniest joke. It was a lie, there was nothing stuck between her teeth and she would make him pay for this small prank later.
"Young master, all the visitors have gone, and the children are sleeping, should we set the table for your dinner?" the butler who approached him with a smile on his face asked. Behind the butler was nanny Feng and two maids.
He shook his head, turning them down. "I ate from the office, I will not be needing anything tonight."
Slowly, he walked upstairs humming a small tune softly as he made his way to their bedroom. When he opened the door, he peeped inside tentatively first.
"Honey__" he called.
When he heard no answer, Muyang entered fully and he went looking for her. He found her in front of the mirror, flossing her teeth carefully.
"There is nothing in your teeth honey, I was simply pulling a harmless prank."
"Harmless!!" she looked up at him and glared, "I thought for a moment that I had been laughing and talking with something stuck in my teeth, hubby, that was a mean prank Jun Muyang. You bullied me."
"Wife, you are right." he smiled cleverly and he replied. "This husband will make it up to you tonight."
"Ha! what a sly man you are." she replied. "Just take your bath and prepare for bed as you tell me about your day. She stood up, planning to dump the floss in the waste bin that sat in the corner of walk in closet.
When she returned however, her husband had not gone off to shower but rather, he was sitting in the chair she previously occupied.
"Oh!" she exclaimed. "Why are you still sitting?"
He threw his left hand out and grabbed her as she passed by him and he pulled her, then, he embraced her from the front, laying his head against her stomach. He wound his arms tightly around her waist, making it impossible for her to escape his hold.
Looking down at the black curly hair on top of his head, Chi Lian smiled and asked, "What is this?"
"I want to be clingy tonight." he replied. "I can be clingy too."
"Of course you can, I know pretty well how clingy you can be." she brought her hand down and patted his hair slowly. "I am your wife so you can cling to me as much as you want."
He raised his head up and looked at her, maintaining the same position he had been in.
"What’s wrong? Did something not go right at the office? Did you lose an investment or are you being weighed down by the emperor’s troubles."
He shook his head, disagreeing with all that she had asked.
But how could she believe him when the frown lines on his face were so evident to her. Owning a business was harder on some days than others and she knew more than anyone that the emperor relied on Muyang’s analysis skills more than most of his advisors and strategists.
Was her husband in need of some pampering?
"Then should I just give you a warm bath and a massage before we sleep?"
He nodded and she tried to go ahead and immediately start on that, but he would not let her leave. No matter how many times she twisted her body, he held on.
Finally, she sighed and asked him, "Do you want to go together?"
He nodded.
As they went to the bathroom together, she laughed softly before saying to him, "Now I know where Mei-Mei’s clinginess comes from, it’s in her DNA."
He smiled as well, simply happy that he was in for a night of pampering by his sweet wife. What a good night it was!
