Chapter 56: Rescue Mission[1].

Hidden by the darkness of the night, the team made their way through the village and headed to Wuxi’s house.

One of the best parts about this village having an aging population was the fact that they went to bed early. This was partly due to the fear of being attacked by wild animals and partly due to the absence of modern entertainment resources like televisions, computers and lap tops.

There was no electricity in this hidden village. It was probably because they did not want anybody calling the police.

As previously agreed, Chi Lian knocked thrice when she got to the door and whistled.

The door was slowly opened immediately after that and grandma peeped outside.

"Its me." Chi Lian whispered.

Wuxi’s grandma opened the door widely and allowed Chi Lian in. The body guards hid their bodies in different areas where darkness covered them.

"You came back." the old woman was surprised and happy to see Chi Lian. She had judged poorly. The young lady indeed had some skill. "I saw the blue smoke and quickly packed up everything I deemed necessary."

Wuxi who was dozing off on the bed woke up and rubbed his eyes.

"Its that aunt who gave me sweets. You are back again."

"We don’t have much time, let’s move." Chi Lian peeped outside and whistled.

Someone else whistled back and she led the two people out of the house. Some body guards were at the front and others at the back. Carefully, without making a sound, they smuggled the two people out of the village.

It was truly amazing that they pulled it off with no one being the wiser. It seems like these people had become less vigilant as the years went on. Then again, the old woman had never tried to escape before so they were confident she could never leave.

It took them two hours of fast walking to get to the rendezvous point. In order not to slow them down, Wuxi’s grandmother was carried by one of the big guards.

Black guard carried Wuxi on his back and kept up with them. The little boy was so excited to be riding on the monstrous sized dog’s bark that he almost fainted.

Helicopters were waiting at the rendezvous point which carried Wuxi, his grandmother and Black guard off to B city that same night. They would be dropped off with Jun Muyang who would ensure their safety.

The soldiers landed shortly after the body guards left. Some of them were dropped off in the village and they rounded up the villagers and flew off with them to B city as well.

Of course, Chi Lian’s drones were recording the scene clearly. Tomorrow, or immediately after the operation was done, she was breaking the news.

"Lady Chi, Its good to see you again." the captain who got a bat from her smiled at her happily. "No, let me rephrase it, Sister Chi, its so good to see you."

"Captain, I see you came." She noticed that most of the soldiers in this group looked familiar.

"I jumped on the mission the moment your name was mentioned, you have a way of finding big cases."

"I have a nose for trouble." she said and they both laughed.

"So, how do you think we proceed?" he asked.

"Up there." she pointed to a point on the mountain. "There is an entry point through there which is unprotected because they assume nobody can go through it." That place was where Black guard was thrown from.

Every time he looked up there he would growl. He was keeping a grudge which is why she sent him away. If he had a chance to enter the fortress again, he would definitely go looking for the individual that stabbed him.

"I guess that’s why you asked us to come with hiking equipment and bring soldiers that could scale walls." the captain said.

"Yes, we are climbing up there."

The captain gave out orders and the soldiers prepared their climbing equipment.

Using the bag as a cover, she pulled out her rope, gloves and knife. She also applied some white powder to her knife and placed it in the camp fire briefly. She told all the soldiers to do the same. The powder made the knives as sharp as steel once they were exposed to heat and the knives could easily penetrate a hard rock.

"What’s this? the captain asked.

"Something good."

"Sister, can I get some more?" the captain begged. He was under strict orders from the minister to keep a sample of everything Chi Lian used.

"Later, for now let’s go."

"Let’s climb." he told his soldiers and they started scaling the mountain.

All the difficulties they had expected to encounter in the climb were eliminated thanks to the special powder and skills of the soldiers.

They persevered for about one hour and finally reached the entry point she had pointed out. They got rid of the rocks which were covering that entrance and one by one, entered the tiny tunnel.

Chi Lian insisted on going first because her drones were leading the way so she could tell what was ahead.

Thankfully, this tunnel was not guarded and T4 had put the security footage of the fortress on loop so no one knew that intruders had made it inside.

The minister of state for security, commissioner Bolin and a few higher ups in the police were watching the operation through the body cams of the soldiers.

Their biggest terror at the moment was the fact that somebody had built such a place and they were not aware.

Drones regularly surveyed all the mountains and forests in the empire looking for rebel strong holds so how did they miss this?

The minister looked at Commissioner Bolin and asked, "How is the other operation going?"

"Successful so far."

The mission they were discussing was the arrest of Situ Bao, Situ Meng and the triple eight gang. The police was wiping out every trace of the gang from the city.

On top of that, prosecutors had been sent to raid the offices of Healing hands pharmaceuticals and arrest all the higher ups of the company.

All members of the Situ family were to be arrested immediately without warrants. An emergency arrest order had been given.

Come morning, the entire operation would firmly be crushed.

"They are inside the fortress, my God! this place is even bigger than we expected, just look at that." one of the police commanders said.

"And some of the guards are armed. How are these weapons getting into the empire?" Another asked.

"They must have been smuggled in by the triple eight." Commissioner Bolin suggested. It was the only possible explanation.

He picked up his radio and gave out an order," Send in the helicopters."
