Chapter 549: HTV hits back

"Baby!!!!" Chi Lian went up to the deck screaming happily. "You will never guess who I found hiding in my suitcase." She carried a fox in one arm and a black cat in another while she spoke happily, marching to him eagerly.

Her face beamed happily with a bright broad smile while her eyes sparkled. Muyang wondered if the pets in her hands were the cause of this much happiness.

"Where did these naughty little things come from?" He took Cat burglar, his favorite pet from her and stroked the little fox.

"They snuck into one of the suitcases and ended up on board. I don’t know how these sneaky things did it but I am glad we have some company."

"Clearly, you are very happy about this." He commented. "But I love it, seeing you smiling is endearing."

"Endearing." She repeated after him, "Ouuh, fancy word to pay a compliment but I like it. Me and my endearing smile will always be here."

Muyang chuckled and grabbed her around the waist, pulling her to stand closer to him so that they could watch the sun setting together.

The beautiful golden glow was fading in the sky, casting the last shadows of the day on the the azure blue waters. This sunset was like one of those that you saw in magazines, or on television when a hotel was advertising how romantic its atmosphere was.

"It’s beautiful." Chi Lian sighed.

"Do you want me to take a picture of you ?" He asked.

"I would rather we take the picture together, it will be better this way." She countered.

Since he was taller and had a better viewing point, he took the picture which she shared in her family chat group.

A beautiful sunset with a beautiful man!!!’

She captioned the picture.

Chi Wei: [Some of us are still in the office so please have mercy and post less pictures. But the pets are looking cute.]

Mama Chi: [Between the children and pets I knew something would tag along. But my son-in-law looks handsome.]

Papa Chi: [Very beautiful, nice shot.]

Chi Rui: [Do pictures of sunsets qualify as lost culture? I am running out of things to put in the old museum. Sister please discover another thing and save this almost minister from embarrassment.]

The couple stayed on deck, watching the sun until it faded away and the pale half moon started making its appearance.

"Should we head inside now, because it’s getting colder out here."

"Host, you might want to first search for your name and Muyang’s name online." T4 called to her.

"Let’s go inside," They walked in their cocktail glasses in hand, leaving behind two cats on deck. Chi Lian was worried about Smarty pants falling over and she turned around to pick him up when she saw Cat burglar pulling the cat to follow them inside by the tail, with his teeth.

"Ho!, looks like we got a free babysitter." She Turned Muyang around to see what she was looking at. "We won’t have to worry about Smarty pants at all."

"I was actually going to tell one of my men to fly to us and take him back. I don’t want our entire vacation to be a game of ’locate our cat.’ and lord knows grandmother will throw it a funeral if it falls over board and dies right after she admonishes us for being bad pet owners."

"A funeral for a cat!!’ Chi Lian looked to him or clarification and he shrugged.

"As long as it breathes, it’s part of the family. Do you see that little hydrangea garden of hers, it’s the burial place for my pet turtle Xiong Ni."

"You owned a turtle!! when and what happened to Xiong Ni?"

"I was five when I got him and he died when I was eighteen, I was out of the country at the time and all grandma said was that Xiong Ni was found dead one morning. She held a funeral, buried him and planted flowers around his grave. She even started a scholarship in his name for university students who want to study marine life. Three people every year get a chance at an education thanks to Xiong Ni. "

"Wow," Chi Lian was impressed by the old madam’s copious heart. This was not something she had shared with Chi Lian ever. Someday, she vowed, she would ensure that Xiong Ni’s scholarship continued on.

As she sat down, Chi Lian checked her phone briefly to see why T4 wanted her to google her name. When she saw what it was, she almost choked on the blue cocktail in her, hands.

"Hubby, look at this." She turned her phone over and showed him what was an article with pictures. The article was titled; Inside Jun Muyang and Chi Lian’s contract marriage!!

"What is this?" Muyang’s eyes perused through the online article on a blog of one HTV employee named Zhi Zhan Po.

It alleged that they had an agreement in which Jun Muyang who was pressurized by his family to have children used artificial insemination to impregnate Chi Lian and Chi Lian whose family was dirt poor after her father’s crippling debt with the fall of his company agreed to have Muyang’s children and marry him for a fee of fifty million yuan. According to the article further more, they did not share a bed and whenever they appeared in public together, Muyang had to pay her one hundred thousand yuan.

"I have never read anything more ridiculous in my life." Chi Lian burst into loud laughter. "Are they trying to get me to sue?"

"HTV did not post this on their official page, an employee of theirs did. They will probably offer an apology and terminate the employee tomorrow. Of course, this is all planned by them and this Zhi Zhan Po will receive a lofty compensation. At the end of the day their goal to poke holes of doubt within our marriage in the eyes of the public will be accomplished." Muyang explained rationally what the most likely reasoning behind this incident was.

"And there are many people, women in particular from aristocratic families who still doubt our marriage and are filled with questions about why you married me over them. They will probably be discussing this tomorrow everywhere like in spas, shopping malls, restaurants and the like. These conversations will fall in the ears of employees in such places and they too will carry them around on social media saying aristocratic families already knew about this. Since they can’t beat me business wise, HTV has decided to go for my reputation." Chi Lian could draw the picture of this plan easily. In the eyes of the public she would be the woman who sold herself for money.

Muyang started texting immediately and dialing numbers, intending to stay on top of the matter. "I will contact my lawyers we should get the article taken down immediately. We should also sue this Zhang character immediately and release statements denying these..."

"Hubby," she touched his arm and shook her head. "Not this way, if we do things this way it will look like a calculated move. It will be too mechanical we need to do things emotionally. We need to do things in a way that shocks everyone."

Muyang put down his phone and looked into his wife’s eyes. At times, her wisdom shined brighter than his. "What should we do?"

"Hubby, how do you feel about a live broadcast? How else can we show off our happiness if we don’t rub it in the faces of our haters?"
