Chapter 546: Before we sail off
The old madam could hear Chi Lian talking and all the things she was saying, she already knew some and more. But getting some of these wealthy women to do was not traditionally seen as their way of giving back to society was not as easy as her great grand daughter-in-law thought. However knowing that their reputations were beginning to go down the drain in some places was also worrisome. With talk like that, the royal women would be the first to leave the high tea society and it would not take long for open criticism and others would follow. Perhaps it was time for some change in their group.
"Dear," she took Chi Lian’s hands in hers and patted them slowly, "Thank you for looking out for me, for us all, we would never have known if you didn’t bring this up. I will talk to the other women and madam Shan too, since another child was bumped off the admission list because of her, she should do something about it."
As the old madam watched Chi Lian nodding along agreeably, she wondered what the online high tea society hate page looked like. Did it have pictures of them all? Were they being stalked? "Chi-Chi, can I see the hatred page? Also is there a way of removing it from the Internet?"
"Bandit, please the link of RWHTS to my lovely grandmother’s companion." Everything was simple now with technology, she did not need to look for the hate page when her companion had access to the Internet. It could also send messages to other companions but only of those people that were in your contact list on your phone or email.
"You have one new message." The old madam was alerted. The sound which came from the old madam’s bag was heard by everyone in the car.
"Mother, I told you to turn off the loud mode." He Weili reminded her. She wanted to add that it was called a hate page not a hatred page.
"I will do it later, I will also check the hatred page later when I can sit and go through each image to my satisfaction. Why is it called RWHTS?"
"The first word is rotten." Chi Lian answered.
"Rotten!!! that’s too much." the old madam said in utter dismay.
"The rest is probably women’s high tea society." He Weili added. "It looks like we have arrived mother, the cars are parking."
The apartment of the elderly couple was in one of the biggest buildings which she had bought and renovated, turning it into luxury apartments with views of the cold lake, large balconies, a children’s park and small gardens below.
The apartments themselves were expensively built with imported French windows, beautiful natural stone floors and red oak doors. She had invested a lot of money into this apartment building because it was where her children would live when they were in the town and she simply liked nice things as well. The apartments also run on a lot of high tech, using voice recognition software for many things.
"Wow, this is actually beautiful!!" Muyang’s mother was surprised, not having known what to expect in this place. "Father this place can actually give the royal boulevard a run for it’s money. How come the owner has not advertised it yet?"
"Our landlord is standing behind you." The old master pointed at Chi Lian whose head was lowered as she slowly typed into her phone.
"Landlord. " Mei-Mei mimicked the old master and pointed at her mother as well.
"Chi-Chi why haven’t you advertised this building in the capital? It seems to be mostly empty, if people knew about it, they will come running to fill it up. It’s beautiful and the rent is cheaper than the capital." He Weili was counting the figures of how much rent and transport would be saved or incurred in her mind.
She put her phone away and shook her head in complete refusal. "I will never advertise it because those that need to live here will find it. Since the drive from here to the capital is now accomplished in minutes, if people find out that there is a good place like this which charges rent cheaper than some luxury apartments in the capital they will come and flood my building. Some will even buy them as investments which I don’t want to happen. The building is for talented permanent residents who live and work here in the lab. Do you know that it is still quite challenging to convince people to move to a town that has a notorious prison like the cold one? More so the ones with families, they feel extremely ill at ease with this kind of place to date. When I show them secure buildings with a touch of luxury they waver and I use that opportunity to sneak into their hearts and tempt them to come."
He Weili shrugged however, "Like it or not, soon people will know and then they will come."
They arrived on the Twenty eighth floor, the highest on this building and where the entire floor belonged to Chi’s and Jun’s. Everyone had bought an apartment here including Chi Zimo who was still paying his off. He used the money he made from his live streams to pay a quarter of the fee. Chi Lian was actually impressed because she expected him to be a spend thrift, one who would throw his money away on fast cars and gadgets.
"Light on." Little monk said.
The chandeliers lit up, illuminating the living room with a golden glow.
In a surprising turn of events, Mei-Mei dragged a light chair from the dining table, climbed it and switched off the lights. She then gave her brother a disapproving look and said," Light off, Mr. sun is up." She pointed to the yellow bright sun out of the window.
Mei-Mei liked to play with lights, switching them on and off playfully while running around. For this reason Chi Lian had been teaching her that when the sun is up,the lights must be off. She seemed to have learned that lesson quite well.
"Ooh, is our Mei-Mei smarter than her brother today? What a a good girl?" The old master was happily praising Mei-Mei.
Little monk however scorfed because what they thought he was doing was not it. He was simply testing the voice activated features his mother talked about. Did none of them notice that he commanded the lights on with his voice while his younger sister unnecessary dragged a chair and physically switched off the light? Little monk sighed, feeling very much misunderstood.
Chi Lian chortled when she saw him sighing and she ruffled his hair. "Mummy knows, good job son." She whispered to him and kissed his cheek.
Muyang smiled knowingly at two of them and pictured a future of more misunderstandings probably to follow because one twin was too smart for his age like he was back then and the other was more like his grandmother, not the smartest but always acting like she was.
He looked at the time on his watch and said, "Everyone, Chi-Chi and I should be leaving now. We have to take a flight to the yacht but before we sail off, congratulations on your move grandma and grandpa."
Wenzhe came in with a wrapped gift which was obviously a painting.
"Kids go and hug your parents." He Weili pushed Rose and Mei-Mei forward for hugs, kisses and tears.
The farewell took a little longer than Muyang expected but it was accomplished and he and his wife finally left the building. They flew directly from the cold town to the yacht in a helicopter. His Chi-Chi was excited, and so was he for adventure waited.
