Chapter 51: Treasure and beheading a snake.

Early in the morning, before taking her bath, the first thing she did was check her virtual storage for the camping equipment which T4 said was placed in there sometime during the night.

"I don’t see it." She complained. All she could see inside was a black round tiny device that could fit into her pocket.

"That’s it." T4 said, "Camp ground 2000."

She pulled it out and looked it over, but couldn’t understand it. "I think your 2000 and my 2000 were very different years."

"Host, please press your thumb in the middle of the device and press down, then place it on the ground."

She did as T4 said and a fully prepared large tent took shape.

"Whoa!’ she exclaimed and stepped back. She examined the tent in wonder and whistled.

It was spacious inside, with a fully inflated mattress, pillow and blanket. At the very top of the inside of the tent there was a projection of moving stars and tiny green lights were glowing. It was the perfect set up for a romantic date.

It had extra features attached like bug spray, an invisibility cover, a tiny microphone which mimicked the cries of different animals and a hot thermos that could keep fluids at the temperature one chose. There was much to discover in such a short period of time.

"T4, where exactly is your world and how do I move to it?"

"I am afraid it’s impossible to move to my planet without the proper transportation host."

"Yeah, yeah." She mocked.

All she wanted to do was visit and come back to her world with a few souvenirs.

She took her bath, drunk a nutrient shake and set off on her motor bike. It would be a two hour ride from her current position to Muru Mountains but she set her bike speed to medium so it would take her an hour to get there.

She put the bike on auto pilot and T4 took control. All she had to do was listen to the music through her head sets.

Soon, she arrived at the entrance of the forest surrounding the mountains. The trees were tall and endless. Different birds were singing or just making different sounds for reasons unknown to her. Light was strong outside but inside the thick woods, dimness was common.

She packed her bike away and sprayed herself with the anti-bug spray T4 provided and some powder which he claimed would keep the dangerous animals at bay.

"Here I go." She said and bravely entered the woods. It wasn’t her first time in the woods. As a soldier, she was used to such terrain in wars and rescue missions. Even military training exercises would take place in different woods.

She fashioned two walking sticks from a few dry weak branches to aid her movement.

She used to read all sorts of rebirth and transmigration novels where the heroine or hero found some special plants in the forest. This was another golden chance to make money.

"T4, scan my environment."

"Host, you have five more chances to use the scan feature this month because you are using it for reasons other than paparazzi work. I would advise you to be more careful as you use it."

"Noted." She responded. It was too late to take back her request. Now that she knew the number of times she could use it were limited, she would be more careful.

"Does that mean there are no limits as long as I am using it for work? I ask because this mission is part of my work and I am scanning for dangers in the woods. If you happen to come across a rare plant, that’s just a bonus."

"Umm...Ermm..." T4 tried to find a loophole within the logic and failed.

"Great, now scan the environment." She smiled slyly. She had successfully duped the little fox.

"Scan initiated."

"There is dendrobium, wild ginseng, peonies, lotus, rhododendron, chrysanthemum and a wild variety of orchids. There are three fritallaria plants, rhubarb and many more."

"Okay please remind me when we come across them, so that I can keep a few. You never know when a lifesaving herb could be needed."

"Yes host."

"What about people, is there nobody in these woods?"

"There is a village about five miles from where you are."

She decided to head in the direction of the village. The benevolent doctor treated humans and not animals so tomorrow, she would enter the village.

As she walked, she reached an area with dense foliage.

"There are a few ginseng underneath these bushes." T4 said.

She paused and carefully dug them out. They were five large ones.

"How old are they?"

"Two are estimated to be about three hundred years old and the other three are one hundred years old."

"Score," She shouted joyfully as she kept them away.

"Host, be careful not to make any sudden moves, there is a very large snake above you." T4 cautioned.

’Oh sweet Buddha! Is this how I die?’ she thought. Her heartbeat was erratic at the moment.

The large snake with purple eyes slithered down the tree and moved around her in circles while hissing furiously. So far, it was not attacking her because of the powder she had sprinkled on earlier. She smelled like the most dangerous creature in the forest and all the animals were keeping a wide berth from her. However the snake was angry enough to try its luck.

"T4, "she squealed internally, "what do I do?"

"You have the smart gun, if you can aim for the eyes, you may be able to incapacitate it."

Carefully, she willed the gun to appear in her hands with her thoughts and just as the snake lunged, she fired twice and closed her eyes. Her shooting precision on her unit was unbeatable so there was no chance she would miss. And the smart gun calculated all angles before releasing the assigned number of bullets. If she was bitten, she had those three antidote drops to any type of poison.

The heavy thud as the snake hit the ground let her know that she was the victor in this short but intense battle. The smart gun’s paralytic bullets did not kill but rather they incapacitated the target and put them to sleep immediately. They were tranquilizers.

For the first time in a long while, her legs were shaking in fear.

She fired two more shots just in case the snake was still active. She was not leaving this vicious snake alive. For all she knew, it could truck her down and enact vengeance.

She got a knife from her camping equipment and beheaded the snake. Then she stored its body in a compartment in her storage. It could fetch her good money somewhere somehow.

The animals which were watching her actions in different hiding spots were shivering in fear. She had just beheaded the king of the area easily. Who was this strange human being?

Coming off the high of her victory, she set up her tent in that area and occupied it like a queen occupying a conquered kingdom. It was getting darker; the village was only one mile away. She could cover the distance tomorrow. She took another nutrient drink, ate a few instant meals, and took a selfie which she sent to her family and Muyang then she slept off while watching the moving stars on the ceiling of the tent.
