Chapter 49: A proper slap in the face.

Opening or cutting of stones was always done where the public could view the process. Most individuals who could identify stones with jade with ease liked it this way because it was a chance for them to show off their talents. The business men liked it this way because they could bid on high grade jades as soon as the stone was opened. And this is why the young man moved to his specialized working area near the entrance of the shop to open the jade.

"Oh, someone has bought stones from this cursed shop, everyone, come and see this unlucky individual." Someone loudly shouted and drew the attention of the masses.

The man that shouted was darting back and forth with shifty eyes. He smiled evilly from the side after shouting.

From his actions, Chi Lian could tell that this was done with malicious intent. She just couldn’t identify the mastermind as of yet.

Right on cue, the blonde haired man from earlier walked in with a group of followers who she assumed was a gang thugs. They definitely looked the part from their dressing and appearance.

"Ho-ho let us see what she got." Blondie said.

"Ding Yuze, don’t be excessive." The shop owner stepped in. Sweat was running down his back from all the anxiety he was feeling. If there was no jade in these stones, his reputation would plunge even further down the drain and the young lady would be mocked.

"Ignore him." Chi Lian tugged on the shop owner’s arm. She picked the jade T4 identified as the king of jade and told the young man to start with it. Since so many people had gathered for a show, she might as well give them a god one.

The young man took the stone and started cutting.

"We can all see that there is nothing. This cursed shop is full of empty stones." One of the thugs laughed and his group followed suit.

"This is a waste of time." One of the business men outside in the crowd said.

"Oh, its green." A voice said.

The stone cutter stopped and looked at Chi Lian, "Should I continue?" he asked.

"Keep going." She nodded.

Half of the stone was cut, exposing a large green exquisite first grade quality jade.

"Jade king, it’s the jade king, oh my God!" an excited voice shouted from the crowd.

Suddenly, a large number of people added themselves onto the already gathered crowd. The entrance of the shop was heavily crowded and people were shoving one another out of the way to catch a glimpse of the jade king.

"I will give you fifty million right here if you stop cutting." A business man shouted.

"You! This crook, how dare you try to but the jade king for such a cheap price!. Young lady I will give you sixty million."

"You two came to play, young lady one hundred million, I offer one hundred million."

The business men were shouting prices one after the other, each one trying to outdo the previous offer.

The shop keeper was shedding tears of joy. This unassuming young lady had just saved his shop. Who would dare call it a haunted shop after this? In fact, he would take a picture of the jade king and place it at the entrance of the shop.

"It’s out, and it’ very big, almost the size of an infant’s head. My goodness this is a historical moment in the plaza."

Chi Lian looked at blondie who was shooting lasers out of his eyes and smirked.

"Two hundred fifty million." A calm voice called out. The crowd parted and gave way to the owner of the voice.

"Its young master Si Cong." Whispers were heard.

"This is so unfortunate, why did we have to bump into this young master of fortune. The king of jade is gone, we should all give up." The first business man who offered fifty million wailed.

Chi Lian happily sold it to him. He made a wire transfer and she received the money immediately.

"Should I cut the rest?"

"En."

"She has two more stones everyone, don’t give up yet. The young master Si may not buy them all." The business men were filled with a renewed enthusiasm.

Unfortunately for them, Chi Lian got two more high quality jades and the young master claimed them all.

In a space of a few minutes, she had made five hundred million. This money would go into the building of her headquarters.

She transferred another one hundred thousand to the shop owner and asked him to buy some offerings for Buddha. The shop was flooded with customers as she walked away. Their long drought was officially over.

She spent some time walking around the plaza idly. Every once in a while, she stopped and bought a stone but did not cut it. A lot of prying eyes were following her at the moment and if she cut any more high quality jades, she would be inviting trouble for herself.

"Young master Si, is there a special reason why you are following me?" She had spotted him and his men tailing her for a while now.

Young master Si was caught unawares and he stammered.

"I...I...I just want to invite you to dinner, as a thank you for selling the jade king to me."

"Young master Si, we simply did business together. I was the seller and you the buyer, there is no need for you to buy me dinner."

"I insist." His bodyguards stepped in front of her path and blocked her way. "That Ding Yuze is very vindictive; he won’t let you go easily. His men have been tailing you for a while now."

"I know." She looked at him like he was bothering her more than Ding Yuze.

"That’s why I want you to protect you. I am hoping that we can the chance to do business again in future. Besides, you are a woman and as a man, I feel the need to protect you."

’Does he think he is superman? ’She thought. But he was not going to give up anytime soon.

"Then perhaps you can give me a ride back to my hotel." She offered an alternative.

"Gladly." His guards led them to the car and swiftly, they left.

In the car, young master Si was doing his best to find out more about her but she was being tight lipped.

"Miss, at least tell me your name. I noticed that you are carrying a lot of unopened stones; perhaps we can do some more business in private. My family owns Si star jewelry. We can buy all the jade you have in your possession."

He took out a business card and offered it to her.

She took the card, looked it over and said to him, "Chi Lian."

Before he could ask more, the car parked which indicated that she had arrived at her venue and she evacuated the car.

"Miss, wait." Young master Si run after her while calling her name.

"What?" she asked. The man was like a puppy she had unwillingly picked up.

"If you have nowhere to cut your stones from, I can offer a safe space." This woman had tremendous luck with picking jade. She definitely had good stones in there.

She thought about it. It was true that she had nowhere to cut her jade from. She hardly knew anyone in the city.

She threw the bag of ten stones at him.

I know which stones are in there and there worth, if you trust me and wire me the money right now, I will take off twenty million and you can have the stones."

"How much?"

"One fifty million." She replied confidently. "If you open them and they are not worth it, you can easily locate me I believe." Si star jewelry was a nationwide company after all. "I will need you to make me a set of jewelry from this stone as soon as possible, a week perhaps."

"Deal," He wired the money and walked away with the stones and her phone number and we chat account.
