Chapter 48: The city of gems.

D city was definitely a vibrant city. It was known for its fun night life. A lot of celebrities and tourists came to this city for fun. Its biggest source of income was tourism and jewelry.

It was said that one’s youth was a waste if they did not make it to D city at least once in their lives.

So many young people with colorful hair were roaming its streets and skating along the footpaths. Most of the shops she saw along the way as the hired car drove by were decorated with red balloons and shiny lights. The sight was truly beautiful.

Jewelry shops were the most common, no wonder D city was known as the city of gems. It got its name from the presence of a variety of jade, gold and silver mines.

Most tourists that came here participated in stone gambling. The lucky winners would find themselves being tempted to enter nearby casinos to gamble in cards. In a way, it reminded her of the city of Las Vegas back on earth.

Her hands were itching to try her luck. She had to find funds to build Phoenix headquarters somehow.

"If you want to gamble in stones you should do it tonight because tomorrow, we head into the mountains." T4 suggested.

"You know just the right thing to say my baby T4."

"I am not a baby." T4 pouted.

She made her way to her hotel, showered and unpacked. She then phoned her family and told them she had arrived safely. She also sent a text with a selfie to Muyang letting him know that she was safe and thinking about him.

Dressed in black, with a long trench coat and her combat boots, she left the hotel and took a taxi to the nearest stone betting plaza.

The place was filled with so many people all examining and cutting different stones in the hopes that they will win big.

A large volume of business men from far and wide were also walking around waiting and bargaining for the stones they desired.

"Watch it." A man rudely barked at her.

She looked at the tall man with blonde dyed hair who was frowning like she had purposely walked into him.

"Sorry." She said.

When the man saw her beautiful face, his face changed. He looked at her lecherously and smiled.

"Beautiful lady, I can show you around. I am excellent when it comes to picking stones."

The woman on his arm frowned, looked at Chi Lian with hostility and possessively held on to the man.

"No thanks, I am just looking." She rejected him. She would have to be crazy to hang around such a vile man. He had one woman on his arm and was blatantly hitting on another.

"Sweetie, let’s check that shop over there." The man’s companion pulled on his arm hurriedly.

As they walked away, Chi Lian saw him look back with malicious intent in his eyes. But she was not scared at all. She could easily take him in a fight.

She entered the shop before her which did not have many visitors and casually looked around. She had no talent in stone betting after all.

"Young lady, you should be careful. The middle aged man wearing a long red silk robe behind the table said. "That Ding Yuze is one of the most notorious thugs in the area. He is known for using force to take whatever he desires because his father owns shares in this plaza." The kind owner warned her.

"Thank you for the warning Mister, I will be careful." She replied with a smile. In her heart she thought, ’I will be careful in beating him up if he crosses my path.’

"Then feel free to look around and try your luck." The shop owner lit a stick of incense and placed it before the statue of Buddha.

"T4, my baby, please help me out today. My luck will depend on you." It had crossed her mind that while she may not have any techniques in identifying stones with jade, T4 had the ability to scan for anything."

"I want a trade."

"I can’t get you access to Jun Muyang’s blood." She informed him immediately. No matter how much that fox waved the syringe around, she would not do it. She wanted to win his heart not push him away or creep him out.

"Then, I want to double my food."

"You use ten percent of my points daily on your food, what more do you want. It’s not like all that eating has helped you, I see no difference in your size or height."

"I grew five new teeth." The fox opened his mouth and pointed at its teeth. The creator of the pet system had designed it so that the pet could grow from infancy to adulthood. "Besides, I have a special function, if I recover some more strength, I will be able to temporary occupy the physical body of any animal. I will finally be able to taste all those food delicacies you have been eating without me."

His little eyes were closed and he was drooling non-stop.

Great, she thought, another foodie in the making.

She noticed that the shop owner kept walking around and peeping on her subtly. Each time she discovered him; he would quickly look away and whistle.

"Umm...Mister, is anything the problem?"

"No, no problem." He said as he shook his hands.

"He is probably wondering why you are just walking around randomly and not picking anything." T4 concluded.

"Mister, "she called, "Why is your shop less crowded than others?"

She had noticed that while other shops were heavily populated with customers going in and out constantly, this one was empty. She was the only one patronizing it at the moment.

The gentleman sagged and shook his head in disappointment.

"I inherited this shop from my father after he died a few months ago. However, ever since I took over, nobody has cut any jade from my stones and someone has gone around saying that my father’s ghost is haunting the shop. Truth be told, I will soon close down the business because it’s costing my family a lot of money to rent when we are not getting any returns."

She realized that it was probably why he lit the incense after she walked in. He was probably hoping that she would cut a good jade so that a crowd would be attracted and new buyers would show up.

’I should do a good deed today.’ She thought.

"T4 scan the stones."

"Scan initiated."

As the scan covered the entire shop, she looked around, touching different stones and pretending to observe them.

"Detected, one nephrite black jade, three green nephrite topaz jades of high quality, two yellow serpentine jades of medium quality, one green jadeite of excellent quality, ten light green jades of low quality, five red jades of high quality, one fuloshi_"

While T4 was mentioning the different jades, he wasn’t pointing her to them.

"Hey, don’t just scan; point me to the high quality jades, starting with the green jadeite." She had done some research before coming to the plaza. This sounded very much like the king of jade.

She went and lit an incense stick and placed it before the Buddha statue.

"For luck." She told the owner.

Her policy was not to be very greedy in life so under T4’s guidance, she picked out three high quality jades.

"Umm...it’s one hundred fifty thousand." The shop owner nervously gave her the bill.

Unbothered, she pulled out her phone and made a direct transfer.

"Mister, where can I cut these out from?"

The gentleman looked down, bent over and tapped someone. A young man who had been sleeping was rubbing his eyes as he stood up. He yawned really loudly and looked her over.

"Can you help me cut these?" she asked.

"Twenty thousand," he said in a bored voice.

"Okay."
