Chapter 476: That is not my oat!

Muyang was flummoxed by his grandmother’s reasoning. His wife brought home a child and she quickly drew the conclusion that he had possibly sown wild oats!! In which way did this girl bear the slightest bit of resemblance to him? The girl was clear an American, that blonde hair, green eyes together with the undeniable fact that his wife was returning from America it was the only plausible conclusion. Why she was crying he had no idea?

"That is not my oat grandma, I have no idea what you are talking about? How can you draw such a conclusion out of nowhere?"

"You and Chi-Chi did not know that you had a second child out there in the world before little monk was rescued. She went out on a trip and has returned with another child. It’s not impossible for a third child to be out there without your knowledge." she shrugged and tilted her head to her side, expressing to him that her question was not coming out of this air. Certain events had led up to it.

"There is no third child, only the twins." he replied in a sure tone.

His grandmother could not stand looking at the pitiful girl that was crying silently on her own so she approached her slowly and asked, "What’s wrong dear, are you ill?"

Muyang rolled his eyes, "Ill" he thought to himself, "Why not ask if she is fine?" "She probably does not speak Chinese, try asking her in English?" he told her.

The old madam nodded and she asked Rose in English, "Why are you crying?"

Muyang that was expecting to listen to the additional ’Are you ill’ in English raised an eyebrow. What had changed?

"Are you hungry, you miss your mummy and daddy?" his grandmother did not let him down, she changed the questions however.

Rose shook her head and wiped her eyes. At this point in time, Chi Lian turned around and faced them. Mei-Mei’s head seemed to be permanently glued to her chest but little monk wiggled to be set down so she did but held his hand.

With many emotions in her eyes, she said, "Grandma, it’s so good to see you, I missed you so much."

"You did not call me even once when you were gone." the old madam folded her hands across her chest and sulked like a kid. "I would check my phone everyday waiting to see your call but you only call your husband, you are very biased. All you ever see and think about is your husband."

"No, grandma," she wheedled and came closer to the old madam, "I came back early because of you. I was missing you so much and I even brought an extra granddaughter for you to dote on." She looked at Rose.

"Is she Muyang’s?" the old madam asked.

"Grandmother!!" Muyang called her. He was in absolute shock because she was still peddling that theory.

Chi Lian laughed and replied, "Yes."

Now it was the old madam’s turn to be surprised because she had simply been trying to bother Muyang not expecting an actual confirmation of a child from outside. This girl did not look like Chi-Chi, who was her mother? The old madam placed her hand over her heart and she looked at Muyang with surprise and questions on her face.

"I am her guardian grandma," Chi Lian explained, "That makes Muyang her guardian too in a way. She is the daughter of a friend of mine that went far away so I am responsible for her now and in a way that makes Muyang responsible for her too. I know that it’s a lot to ask of you to allow me raise a child in our family when she is as stranger to you but I can’t just abandon her. I made a promise to my friend and I don’t want to break it. I am asking for permission grandma but if it will make anyone uncomfortable I can send her to my family."

This was not her family’s house where she could bring anyone and tell her mother that they would be staying for a while. It was also not her house where she could bring in anyone as she wished. This family had rules and she had to adhere to them. Rose would be staying here possibly forever or until when she decided to leave. Even then she had to be an adult to make the decision to leave. She could also leave if someday the princess decided to send for her. Only two people in the world knew where she was, her and the princess and for the sake of them both, the odds of the princess sending for the girl were slim.

The old madam looked at Muyang and she too her eyes back to Chi Lian. "I think you should discuss this with your husband first. I will also talk to my husband about it but she can stay as a guest right now. I am sure the old man won’t mind, this house is empty most of the time, having another child around will not be a bother."

"Thank you grandma." she replied and hugged the old madam with the side of her body which was not holding Mei-Mei.

"Okay, I know that you brought gifts and you will be in the mood to distribute them soon but first eat your food."

"Grandma let me first introduce her." Chi Lian pulled Rose closer and told her to look up. "Husband, grandmother this is Rose Chi, my niece." those were the names on her passport which had been delivered by T4.

"Hello Rose, welcome to our family." the old madam spoke in English. Unlike Chi Lian’s English which was flawless, the old madam sounded absolutely like a foreigner when she spoke the language. She overly enunciated her pronunciations of words.

"Welcome." Muyang said one word to Rose and he nodded. "Call me uncle." he added which surprised Chi Lian pleasantly.

"See, I told you that we are nice people." she told Rose, "You will be very happy with us and she will be happy to know that so stop crying. You will fall sick if you keep crying. These are my children, Mei-Mei and Mengze, you will be there big sister from now on, okay."

Rose smiled and nodded, wiping away the tears from her face with the back of her hand.

"Not clean." the old madam said and handed Rose a tissue. "Use this."

"Thank you." the girl replied.

As they walked to the dining room Muyang whispered to her, "Who is she?"

"I will tell you later." she whispered back. She had absolutely no intention of hiding anything that happened on this trip from him.
