Chapter 475: Welcome home wife
Chapter 475: Welcome home wife
At home, Muyang was preparing himself and the children to go and pick up his wife in a few hours time. He had no idea that her plane had already landed until he received a phone call from her.
"Honey, I am on my way back." she said excitedly over the phone.
"I know, we will be waiting for you at the hangar." he replied. Putting the phone on loud speaker, he pulled little monk forward and put his shoes on his small feet. For some reason, his mind flashed back to the day they rescued him. He had such tiny feet back then, barely fitting in his palm and now they had grown longer. These shoes looked a little bit tight in fact, he needed new fitting shoes.
"Honey," his wife said, " I am already in the empire and I am on my way home. Make sure that I find you at the house I want to see your face. And the children too, make sure that they are at home."
Muyang looked at the time on the watch on his hand, it was a fourteen hour flight, if she was here then she was at least six hours ahead of the scheduled time. "Are you teasing me?’
"No, I am about one forty five minutes away and I am very hungry."
"What do you want to eat?" he asked her.
"Shrimp fried noodles," she replied instantly. "I also want freshly squeezed juice, oh I am coming with someone else. They should prepare some food for children, a teenage child."
Muyang agreed but he wondered whose child his wife was bringing home? Had she saved someone else he wondered,? It was probably true, he thought, she had saved another person.
"Children," he looked at his son and daughter, "Looks like we do not need to go to the airport after all, your mother has surprised us all by returning ahead of schedule. Let’s all go to the kitchen and make sure that she is well fed when she returns." With one child in each of his arms, he went downstairs and informed his grandmother of Chi Lian’s return. "Mother." Mei-Mei looked around and called as the adults talked.\.
"What? How could you not pick her from the airport?"
"I didn’t know, she has said she is coming with a guest and she wants to eat shrimp fried noodles. She also wants freshly squeezed juice."
"I will go and cook for her, call your grandfather and tell him that she is back. Maybe we should prepare more food in case the Wang’s show up too. I know that madam An will be itching to spend at least one hour with her. " As the old madam told Muyang what to do, she also walked into the kitchen and Muyang followed after her.
"The visitor is a young girl." he said.
"Do we have shrimps?" the old madam asked the chef.
"No." the chef shook his head.
"Hurry, go and get some from the sea food shop in the complex my Chi-Chi is returning and she is very hungry." she even snapped her fingers as if to say ’chop chop.’ "Where is Qi Qing?"
"Here matriarch."
"You know just how your boss likes her juice, squeeze some for her immediately and put it in the fridge. Chi-Chi prefers cold drinks to warm ones. Also someone should bake some cookies or prepare a very good desert, she always eats something sweet after her meal."
The old madam was dishing out orders as if she was expecting a special guest and not Chi Lian who she saw on a daily basis usually. It was almost as if this was the first time that Chi-Chi would be paying a visit to the Jun family house.
"Is the guest spending the night?" she asked Muyang.
"Probably, grandpa has said that he is supervising the site in the cold town but he will be home as soon as possible."
The old madam raised her upper lip and looked at Muyang with perplexed eyes. "What is that old man doing there? Did he even take a jacket? Who sent him there? Why am I asking about this when there are other things to do?" She looked around for her own personal maid and sent her to prepare a guest bedroom.
As preparations for Chi Lian’s return were being made, Muyang and the children were watching television. Every few seconds his eyes would move to the doorway and when he heard the sound of a car outside he jumped up and quickly walked to the window.
"It’s not her." He mumbled and returned to his seat. Before going to the window he had been playing with Mei-Mei, counting her toes and pretending to bite them while she giggled. When he returned to sit his daughter was looking at him with grievances in her eyes.
" Sorry my princess I will not get up again, let’s continue playing, it’s your turn to count my toes."
Twenty minutes later Muyang broke his promise again the moment he saw Old tiger enter with suitcases. He got up but he did not stray far from the chair, instead he waited impatiently to get a look at his wife who was the last to enter. The moment she set her eyes on him, she came running and he opened his arms wide leaving room for her to launch herself at his chest.
"Yang-Yang, husband, I am back." She said loudly.
Muyang spun her around happily and he could not believe how excited he was to see her. It was as if she had been gone for months not days. He had missed her so terribly, days and nights were spent longing for the warmth and light only she could bring into his life.
"Welcome back wife," he whispered. "I have missed you so much my wife." He was hugging her so tightly and with much strength that could shatter bones and break glass.
"I have missed you more." She said in a teary voice. Her feet were off the ground because of the way he was lifting her so high in the air. She took advantage of this borrowed height to drop kisses on his cheeks and lips quickly. "Your precious cargo came back early to surprise you. Do you like my surprise?" She was smiling so enchantingly at him and he nodded his agreement very eagerly.
"I like it, I like it so much." He said.
"Mother, mother." Two small little voices persistently called her from below. They were excited toddlers who did not like being ignored.
"My babies." She looked down and disentangle herself from Muyang’s arms. "Come for hugs." She carried them up easily and they giggled while still continously calling mother. Mei-Mei the little cry baby even started crying.
Muyang wanted to take her but the old madam who had been informed of Chi Lian’s return stopped him. "Let her cry for a bit, she needs to vent as well. She missed her mother as much as you missed your wife." The old madam was also looking at Rose the girl that was standing awkwardly close by and wiping tears from her eyes. There was envy in her eyes that was so obvious as she watched Chi Lian and the children. She poked Muyang in the stomach and whispered "Whose daughter is this? Did you sow any wild oats outside?"
