Chapter 364: Breaking news[2]

There was a disruption in the daily routine of so many citizens of the empire this day. Many stopped working so that they could watch the news; even the bosses and supervisors who would normally berate their employees for slacking off joined them to watch Phoenix TV news.

At the offices of NTV the National Broadcasting television, executives were furious because this kind of exclusive news they believed should have gone to them first and not to a privately owned media house.

In the CBTV the China Broadcasting Television the news director was furiously blaming the reporters for being so lazy that they missed this gigantic exclusive news and a media house which had not been in existence for a year with amateur anchors and reporters was beating them.

Outside the gates of the Chu plantation and factory, a mixture of more than thirty reporters, photographers and camera men were trying to push their way past the yellow line which indicated that this area was a crime scene and off limits but the reporters were struggling to push their way inside.

One police man could be heard on the radio asking for extra reinforcements to be sent in to assist in crowd control. He went as far as to request for shields and tear gas to be brought just in case the crowd became unruly.

One would have thought that he was exaggerating and panicking unnecessarily but in reality, he wasn’t because everyone that was close and had a missing relative friend child or loved one was showing up with pictures to ascertain whether their people were among the dead bodies which had been found.

As the crowd gained momentum and mass, one of the officers had no choice but to fire his gun in the air to scare the crowd and force them to calm down.

"These are real bullets, if you force your way inside this will be considered an attack on law enforcement officers and we will be forced to use force to defend ourselves. Please calm down the police commissioner is on his way here to address you."

Fear of death stopped the crowd but grumblings could be heard from those who were unhappy. Loud sobs and wails ensued as entry into the plantation was now impossible.

"We just want to know if our people are in there."

"Yes, please tell me if my daughter is one of the rescued victims."

The lead officer felt pity for all these people but if he allowed even one unrelated person into the crime scene, they could tamper with the evidence and the criminals would escape justice.

"Please wait patiently for word from the commissioner, if you destroy evidence and your loved ones are among the victims, the perpetrators will get away scot free. Stay in one place and wait."

A microphone was shoved in his face and a reporter asked, "Why is Phoenix TV allowed inside? It’s not fair to the rest of us."

Others would not be left behind and another reporter also shoved a microphone towards him and said, "We are also journalists; you can’t favor some over others. Is there a reason why Phoenix TV is receiving special treatment?"

"Even NTV reporters are stuck outside here, why can’t the empires national television access the crime scene?"

The lead officer refused to respond to those questions, His face remained stoic amidst all the screaming and shouting from the journalists.

Phoenix TV news continued to report the goings and comings at the crime scene. And just when the viewer’s thought that things could not get any worse, they did.

A female reporter was standing in front an open space behind the hospital building and speaking to the camera. "Additional officers arrived at the crime scene with ten cadaver dogs after one of the arrested employees made a claim that more bodies had been buried in the back yard of the hospital and on the plantation grounds.

So far, over forty spots have been marked by red flags as potential burial sites and yet the cadaver dogs are still barking strongly and loudly which means the number of bodies buried in the ground in this place continues to grow.

According to our sources burial of bodies in the ground has been taking place long before some of the new factory buildings were constructed. This could potentially mean that every inch of this place could potentially have dozens of bodies beneath.

In order to ascertain these claims, the buildings will have to be torn down sooner or later. Nobody seems to know the exact number of bodies buried in the grounds of the Chu plantation because of its large size and for now, we can only estimate that it could be in the hundreds.

In this cold harsh weather, the question on our minds is will the bodies be retrieved now or will we have to wait a few weeks until spring when the ice has melted for excavation to begin. If the excavation is put off for now, what will the reaction of those whose loved ones are buried here be?

Reporting for phoenix news, Li Genji."

"Thank you very much reporter Li Genji" the female anchor said, "We will now be taking you to reporter Mo who has more updates on the condition of the rescued children and when we return we will be going straight to a live conference being held at the Central police station by the commissioner general of the police, the director of the NFI and Chief prosecutor in regards to what has been named, the planation massacre."

The screen changed and Mo Pingfan who was standing beside an ambulance was shown "I am still at the crime scene with the children but we have also been joined by other victims who were rescued from inside the hospital. Some of them are lightly injured and they have received quick treatment on the scene while those with grave injuries have been transported to the nearest hospital for treatment. Most of the victims like this man have agreed to talk to us and tell us how he found himself in this place."

She turned her microphone to a man whose face was blurred out immediately.

"Sir thank you for agreeing to talk to us."

"I am happy to talk to you; I have to warn other people not to fall into the same trap that most of us here fell into."

"What trap are you talking about?" Mo Pingfan asked.

"Half of us here are homeless people who went to the Aoi charity organization for help. They promised us that we could jobs, shelter and food in this place. But when we arrived, we were welcomed into a life of suffering and death.

We were forced to pick tea from six in the morning to eleven in the night with only one twenty minute break every after four hours. If you complain about the working conditions, living conditions, and poor feeding or fall sick you would vanish in the night never to be seen again.

Now we know that those who disappeared were killed off by these monsters." The man broke down in tears and said, "The Aoi organization is a trap you can ask any of the other people here and they will say the same thing."
