Chapter 329: The proposal
Chapter 329: The proposal
Muyang turned around only to see Chi Lian holding a small black box whose contents could not be mistaken for anything else.
Her body was vibrating with excitement and in her eyes was a sparkle of light that could burst forth any moment.
"Oh-Oh." He said quietly.
The box contained a special ring, which he had spent quite a large sum to procure and he was planning a special proposal to go along with the ring. A proposal with champagne, fireworks, balloons and with him on his knees while an orchestra played lovely music but all those plans were about to be thrown out of the window.
How and why had she got her hands on the ring?
Meanwhile, Chi Lian was coming closer to him and on her face was a happy expectant smile.
"I am sorry for not waiting for you to surprise me it’s just that when I saw the balloons and the candles with the box sitting right there my curiosity got the better of me. I told you I suck at waiting for surprises, I am sorry for ruining this one." She was explaining herself desperately.
Muyang could not help but think, "You are not the only one who is surprised."
He had not ordered for any balloons or candles. Who had prepared this surprise for them? He looked at nanny Fang who was completely immersed in rubbing her cheeks against little monk’s face.
"Have I ruined the surprise?" She asked him.
Muyang laughed softly and planted his hands on his waist. Then, he removed them and shrugged his coat off and tossed it in a chair.
Chi Lian could not help feeling like something was not quite right because he was not reacting the way she was expecting. He was neither happy nor angry with her.
"I haven’t opened the box yet, I jumped to conclusions about what it contains." She was waving the small box in the air as she explained this to him. "Is it meant for me, were you going to propose?" she asked curiously.
She may have appeared to be unbothered but deep down, her heart had clenched and she wanted to bite her tongue. She was also cursing herself for her overly curious nature. This was why they said curiosity kills the cat and in this scenario, she was the cat.
"Well...." Muyang answered in a strained voice. His words left off from there and he moved his hands around in an up and down movement.
"Were you not going to propose?" she asked
He sighed and responded, "Not exactly."
"Oh." She said in a sort of disappointed voice.
Muyang quickly reached out his hands and held her, "I was going to propose," he explained, "but not today. I was planning a special event next week from where I would propose. I don’t know who arranged the balloons and candles."
"Young master, I did that." Nanny Fang admitted from where she was standing. "When you called and said you were coming with the young madam and you wanted the house cleared out because you wanted privacy to prepare a surprise the ring was on the table so I assumed you were going to propose. I could not let you propose without any decorations so I added balloons and candles. I also ordered for wine, chocolates and strawberries."
Muyang could not blame his nanny for wanting to be helpful; it was his fault for not keeping the ring safely. He would have to make do with the situation so he took the ring out of her hand.
He looked at Chi Lian and said, "Well, the cat is out of the bag already. I noticed that every time we were together and we passed by a jewelry store your eyes would inevitably glance at the ring section. I have been trying to get you this ring for a month now because I want you to have a ring that conveys my deepest feelings for you."
He got down on one knee, surprising her so much that she gasped.
"Chi-Chi, my life has not been the same ever since the day you took a photograph of me and I almost smashed your camera."
She giggled and tried to hold back her tears.
"It certainly hasn’t been the same ever since you and Mei-Mei forcefully made your way into my house and claimed me as yours. You resurrected a part of me that I thought was dead and I cannot ever go back to being the man I used to be. Our life together has been full of unknowns and so much excitement both good and bad but I would not have it any other way because I love it so much. So, Chi Lian, my love, the mother of my children, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
He opened the ring box and brought out a vivid pink colored diamond ring, around fifteen carats. It was both exquisite and elegant.
As he slid the ring on her finger, she screamed ’Oh my God yes,’ over and over. She did not even hold her tears back anymore, as he got up and hugged her tightly.
Their proposal was witnessed by the butler, nanny Fang, two maids and four guards who clapped and cheered.
"I love my ring." She whispered into his ears, "I love you." She added.
"I love you too." He whispered back.
The butler popped champagne and brought two glasses of wine that he gave to each one of them.
"Young madam, a proposal is not complete without pictures." Nanny Fang said.
Chi Lian scrambled for her phone and Muyang had to go down on his knee again for a photo op. The pictures were sent to family members and close friends who sent congratulatory messages immediately they saw the pictures.
One response caught her eye, it was Chi Rui’s question, "Is that ring the pink love?"
She had no idea what the pink love was so she asked T4 to find out while she got Muyang to tell her what his original surprise was.
"I am going to cook for you tonight." He replied proudly.
Nanny Fang who overheard lost her smile and she said in horror, "Young master!, don’t you remember the disaster the last time you attempted to cook?"
"I have been learning." Muyang replied nonchalantly and into the kitchen he went, leaving Chi Lian and little monk to help themselves to the strawberries nanny Fang had ordered for. They were not as sweet as hers but they were still tasty.
Thirty five minutes later, Muyang presented a bright colored beautiful plate of pasta before her.
"It looks good, my honey you are good at everything." She praised him.
One bite of the pasta and she wanted to take back her praise, the pasta was partially overcooked and partially burnt.
"Muyang, I think we have found your kryptonite." She told him as she forced herself to take a few more bites.
He did not want to admit defeat, "No way," he said, "I followed the video and instructions carefully." He took a bite using her fork and spat it out immediately. "This tastes awful, how can you eat it?"
"Well, you tried your best; I give you an ’A’ for effort." She consoled him.
"I think you mean ’E’." he replied unhappily. "We should order for take away."
"I think nanny Fang has our dinner handled." She answered.
The two maids brought in food and Chi Lian who was starving smiled.
After dinner, nanny Fang bathed little monk and insisted on putting him to bed so the couple went to their bedroom.
As soon as the door shut behind them, the environment between them was suddenly charged with all this sexual tension that had been building up but ignored all day.
"Sooo," Muyang said as he stalked her slowly, "We are alone now."
"Uh-huh," she replied with a smile as she walked backwards. Her heart was beating a little faster with every second that passed. "So, what are you going to do next?" she asked in a teasing voice.
Muyang grabbed Chi Lian and kissed her like a dying man quenching his thirst. His kiss was rough and exciting. It was filled with a raw punishing energy which drove him to tear her clothes off desperately.
She had been ready for this, waiting and expecting it to happen as soon as they were alone and she wasted no moment in ripping his shirt off so that she could feel his skin as closely as she could against hers.
In between his kisses, he declared his love for her passionately. He buried his head in her neck and inhaled just before saying, "You, you are my everything. Promise me that you will never leave me."
When she opened her mouth to promise, he brought his lips down on hers and he kissed her again.
As his lips trailed down her body dropping little electrifying kisses along the way, she asked, "Aren’t you afraid to break me anymore?"
He paused his kisses, raised his head up and said, "We can break the bed instead."
