Chapter 320: My mother’s family
As Chi Lian and Apple were doing their best to look alluring in the photo shoot, a bunch of guests arrived at the door. Since the butler recognized Old master Wang, he let them in with a smile albeit a confused one since he had not been informed that the family was expecting guests.
However like any good butler, he led them to the large living room and ensured that they were comfortably sitting before going to the backyard to call the Madam and young miss.
The visitors in the living room were looking around the living room and studying the pictures of the family on the wall.
"That’s her, your sister Nuo. " Madam An pointed mama Chi out to them
"She looks so happy." Wang Cang noted as his eyes stayed glued on one particular picture that was taken on Mei-Mei’s birthday.
"She was lucky to find a good husband and have good children and great grandchildren. Buddha must have paid her back like this for all the suffering she endured during her childhood." Madam An said with a slight smile on her face.
Despite the smile, her hands were shaking and she kept clenching and unclenching them to ease her nerves.
"Mom, I can’t believe our sister was alive and so close this whole time but we never knew." Wang Xie said.
"Ho, is that Jun Muyang?" Wang Tong asked.
"Mmm, he is our cousin’s fiancé." Wang Bolin answered.
Wang Tong leaned over and whispered, "Brother is our cousin Chi Lian?"
"You have been keeping up with the gossip blogs I see." Bolin commented.
"Do you think I can admit that to you?" Wang Tong thought to herself but quickly shook her head in denial and said, "No way brother, I just know her name because she is the youngest female founder of a media company in the empire. Moreover, she participated in that raid where a number of rebels were arrested and a bomb exploded in the air. How can I not know her?
Even grandpa praised her bravery back then. He said she would make a good soldier."
"Humph." Bolin shook his head.
"She wants to work on television as an anchor." Wang Zhao her younger brother whispered.
Wang Tong wasted no time in pinching his waist to shut him up. Wang Zhao winced and old master Wang noticed their little altercation. If he could he would hit them over the head for misbehaving when they were guests here at the moment.
"What are you doing?" Old master Wang asked them sternly.
Mama Chi and Chi Lian came waltzing into the living room and saved the two siblings from answering that question.
"Butler, call my father and brothers down please and also have the maids send in some refreshments like tea and snacks. I don’t know if Meili or someone else from the tea shop has brought nutro but you can add it to the refreshments." She said softly.
"Yes miss."
After taking care of that order, she joined her mother on the same soft black sofa and smiled at the visitors as she waited for her mother to talk first.
"Madam An and master Wang it’s so good to see you." Mama Chi said politely. Inside she was asking herself, ’why are you here and who are all these people that have come with you?’
Madam An could feel herself sweat, she wanted to respond but somehow the words were stuck in her throat and she just ended up crying.
That’s when the rest of the Chi family made their entrance and took their own seats. The Chi brothers looked at Chi Lian in confusion.
"What is going on?" Chi Wei mouthed at her.
Chi Lian responded with a shrug. She had already informed them about the connection of their mother to the Wang’s so they could draw their own judgments from that and relate it to the present events.
"What’s wrong," mama Chi asked as she looked at madam An with a perplexed gaze. "Did I say something offensive, I will apologize please stop crying."
"It’s not your fault child." Old master Wang answered. He was rubbing his wife’s back in comfort. His voice was shaky and teary making mama Chi wonder why these people had come to her house to express their sadness.
Did they want a favor from Chi-Chi or one of her sons?
Wang Siming on noticing that his parents were stuck decided to take the lead. As the next patriarch of the family and the big brother of the little sister before him, it was only right that he do so.
Just as he was opening his mouth to talk, Wang Xue his other sister who everyone knew could be overly emotional suddenly wailed, "Sister, little sister, we did not know."
Wang Siming shook his head like an exhausted and frustrated man. He wondered how Xue’s words were an explanation to their little sister who had no idea what was going on.
Mama Chi looked left and right, looking for the person they were talking to.
"Sister, woowoowoooo." Wang Xue wailed. She was crying and tears were flowing as if there was a fountain leak in her eyes.
If this was not a serious meeting, Chi Lian would be laughing. The scene was quite funny because tears were spilling out of Xue’s eyes continuously even though she kept wiping them.
"Did someone put a chilli pepper in her eyes?" T4 asked.
"How should I know? She is so naturally talented at crying, there is no off switch for her tears." Chi Lian answered.
"Little miss, stop crying." Mama Chi said in a panicked voice and she looked around for wipes or tissues to give the crying woman.
Wang Xue paused the ruckus she was making for a few seconds before resuming, "Sister, I am older than you. I am the big sister here." She said as she sobbed.
Chi Lian looked at her brothers and she shrugged once more. What was she supposed to do about this situation?
Perhaps Chi Lian should have intervened slowly because Chi Wei decided to take over since the Wang’s were busy looking sad or crying.
"Are you my mother’s real family?" Chi Wei asked.
Bolin suddenly coughed as if something was choking him, Xue who was crying stopped as if she had been muted and Madam An and Old master Wang raised their heads up so quickly to look at him.
"How...?" Wang Siming asked in a shocked voice.
Chi Wei looked at his siblings and then the Wang’s and he said, ’Oh, we all know already. You guys interfered with the results of the dna test and we put two and two together. Well, my sister put two and two together.
We have been investigating everything that happened when our mother was born and only you Madam An made sense on the short list of women that gave birth that year."
