Chapter 306: Not our decision to make
Chapter 306: Not our decision to make
"Tell my brothers to come and see me in the kitchen." She told the butler. There was a common saying, ’fore warning is fore armed.’ Her brothers needed to be warned.
"Host what about your mother?" T4 asked.
"Not now, I want to see how the Wang’s intend to handle this first. I delivered a heavy blow to my mother already when I told her about the DNA test which I ordered for without her knowledge or permission. I do not intend to do the same thing once again when I don’t know where she is mentally."
In the kitchen, she found the chef sniffing around the storage box. Not far from him, three maids were also craning their necks to take a look at the box.
"What are you doing chef?" she asked.
"Miss, I want to see what good things you have brought." He replied with excitement.
It was safe to assume that the Chi family chef was a foodie. Every time she brought home new special ingredients from the virtual farm, the man was like an excited puppy wagging its tail. Right now, his eyes were sparkling and his body was vibrating with energy even though he should be exhausted from all the cooking he had been doing since morning.
"You are like a kid waiting for candy." She commented.
"That’s because your storage boxes always bring me a joyful surprise miss, please open it before I die from too much anxiety." He pleaded.
No one in the house except for the family members dared to touch things she brought without her exclusive say so.
"Well, we wouldn’t want you die. Who else will cook for us delicious meals in the house?" she teased.
The kitchen door opened and she turned around to see the big chef and her assistant bringing in boxes.
"I am challenging him to a cook off because of your praises." The big chef announced and pouted. "You said my food was the most delicious in the world."
"I said your pastries were the most delicious and I meant it." Chi Lian hurried to defend herself. "Have you brought the cake?"
"One chocolate cake, one matcha cake and one strawberry cake." The big chef replied as she pointed to which cake was which as they had been placed down on the counter. "These might be my best cakes yet. I poured so much love into them." She said.
"By the way, is young master Yichen coming for the party, he often comes by the bakery for sweet treats and I brought him something special. " As usual she was talking fast and asking a lot of questions.
She remembered that the big chef was very talkative.
"By the way I love your dress, I saw the post and I intend to buy one just like it. I hope I can pull it off just like you because I am shorter." She talked about her height with a little pout.
"Stop." Chi Lian crossed her hands into an x.
The big chef giggled to hide her embarrassment. "I did it again; I was talking too much, right?"
Chi Lian nodded in agreement with the big chef’s personal judgment.
"Sorry." She laughed.
The kitchen door was opened again and her brothers came pouring in chattering and laughing. They were really having a good time at the party.
"Sister, did you send for us to taste the cakes?" Chi Zimo who had taken one look at the big chef and the boxes on the counter asked happily.
Not only did he ask, he went ahead to open one box and admire the chocolate cake.
"Everyone, step outside the kitchen for a minute. I am going to call you back in a short while." She told the chef, the maids and the big chef.
Quickly, they made themselves scarce, and she had the privacy she wanted.
"What’s wrong?" Chi Wei asked immediately. "Did something else go wrong? Is it about mother?"
She nodded, "I think I may have found out who mother’s biological parents are. It’s the Wang’s." she looked at Chi Wei and said, "Your friend Bolin’s grandparents."
"What?" Chi Rui asked.
"Are you sure?" Chi Wei asked.
"I am ninety percent sure but without the actual results of the DNA tests I can’t speak with one hundred percent certainty. I think the Wang’s found out and that’s why they are here." She informed them.
"This is unbelievable; if it’s true it means mother should have been raised like a princess. Instead, she was raised like a maid in that family, mistreated, starved and beaten. She is going to cry a lot when she finds out." Chi Rui said with disbelief all over his face.
"Which one of us is going to tell her?" Chi Zimo asked. "She should know right now, she will be happy to find out that she has a biological family which loves her."
"How do you now if they love her?" Chi Wei was skeptical. "We should first get an explanation from them about how mother ended up with the Li family in the first place."
"But those are mother’s parents; if they are here to recognize her then we should tell her. What right do we have to have to hide this information from her?" Chi Zimo questioned Chi Wei passionately.
"Zimo, you are still young, there are some things you don’t understand." Chi Wei responded.
"I am young, not stupid." Chi Zimo retorted.
Chi Wei run his hands through his hair because he was getting frustrated. "I didn’t call you stupid; I said that you are young. What if they turn out to be worse than the parents who raised her? Do you think the Wang family is a simple one? I am Bolin’s friend; I know some things about the Wang’s that you don’t so you should listen to me." He said quite loudly.
"Why should I listen to you, It’s not our decision to make, its mother’s." Chi Zimo insisted. He was staring at his older brother with no fear and only determination. He showed no signs of backing down at all.
Chi Wei was about to reply when Chi Lian interfered and yelled, "Both of you stop it, you are shouting and we have guests in the house. Do you want everyone to know our personal business? All I wanted to say when I called you in here is that it’s possible that they are here for mother and I thought you should know my suspicions. Zimo, we cannot go to mother with suspicions and no proof because if we are wrong, we will break her heart once more. Moreover, our eldest brother is right, we don’t know much about the Wang’s to run and embrace them quickly.
If they turn out to be her parents, I promise that you will be the one to deliver the information to her personally. Otherwise, let’s just be on alert and protect mother well tonight in case things go sideways somehow.
If everyone is onboard with this, go back to the parlor and one of us should always be by mother’s side."
Chi Zimo glared at Chi Wei and replied, "Yes." Then he left the kitchen.
"Oh, that brat needs a spanking." Chi Wei said and he followed after Chi Zimo with a big frown on his face.
Chi Lian was worried that the two would continue to fight or sulk and one, probably Chi Zimo would end up spilling the beans to their mother.
"Don’t worry I will keep them in line." Chi Rui said.
She looked at him and smiled gratefully, "I can always count on you big brother, thank you."
Chi Rui smiled and sent the chef and the maids back inside as he was leaving.
Chi Lian was already opening the storage box when the chef came over.
"Come, we are going to prepare some soy milk and you will cook a new type of rice." She said.
