Chapter 274: The haunting of the Chu’s

Late in the night, when everyone had gone to bed, a team of four people dressed in similar white invisible suits set out like thieves in the dark for the Chu family mansion in the emperor’s courts.

Thanks to T4, who deactivated the security system of the Chu’s they managed to scale past the front gates quite easily. Not even the few bodyguards who were monitoring the compound had a clue.

The biggest security flaw of the mansions in the emperor’s courts was the short gates at the entrance. Everyone assumed that that they were so safe because the front gates and the entire fence were manned by armed soldiers but an internal threat was something else.

The group of four easily entered the main house with the key card T4 made for her. Most of the lights were off and it looked like everyone had gone to bed, it was coming to midnight after all.

Since a plan had already been made, everyone went to their assigned areas immediately.

Chi Lian and Muyang directly headed to the bedroom which T4 identified as Madam Chu and her husband’s room.

Inside, the couple was sleeping in bed, unaware of the horror that was about to follow. Since the electronics in the house

She turned on the crying baby ghost tune and used one of her devices to blow cold air into the room. Not even three minutes later, the couple was wide awake and quite terrified.

"Husband what is that sound?" madam Chu asked.

"I don’t know." her husband replied as he looked around. He switched on the lamp beside the bed but it would not go on.

Chi Lian increased the pitch of the wails and blew air directly on madam Chu’s neck. The woman screamed and jumped out of the bed, running to hide behind her husband.

"Who...who is there?" Mr. Chu asked.

"Do you want to play with me?" a childish voice asked in reply persistently thrice.

"It’s a ghost!!" Madam Chu screamed. She was shivering and her eyes bulged wide open, there was slight saliva forming on the corner of her mouth.

"There is no such thing as thing." Mr. Chu answered bravely but nervously and Muyang kicked him.

Chi Lian was doing her best to hold her giggles in once Mr. Chu flew through the air because his wife tried to hide under the bed.

"Do you want to play with me?" this time round the voice was deeper and rougher, like a grown man’s voice if he had swallowed a frog or something.

After messing with them for a while, she sprinkled sleeping powder over their eyes and shaved off their hair as planned.

They played these games on most of the occupants of the house and when it came to Chu Jiahong, she mercilessly whipped him left and right.

The screams coming out of the Chu residence that night were heard by a few but no one came to check on them.

After putting every occupant of the house to sleep completely, she and Muyang went on a scavenge in the house. No treasure was left standing, be it an antique, jewelry or porcelain.

When T4 told her that there was a safe down in the basement, Chi Lian went there without delay and opened it.

In there, she found some gold, private documents, land titles, house ownership titles and the like. She also found a bunch of old pictures and a journal. Originally, she was going to ignore the documents but one picture in particular caught her eye.

The reason for this was that when T4 recovered everything from Cloud school when little monk was being rescued, there was a similar picture in the folders.

It was of a house, white picket fence and a dog. In front of the house, an old man was standing with five other men and one woman.

"T4, doesn’t this look familiar?" she asked.

"I have one answer for you host, white picket fence and a dog; this has got to be Aoi organization."

The structure of the house was just as Spider and the children who were taken from the orphanage had described. It could not be a coincidence that the same picture in the hidden documents was the same one in the description and also from cloud school.

"What’s wrong?" Muyang asked her.

"I think the Chu’s are in bed with the Aoi organization." She answered. "Look at this picture and some of these documents. I don’t know what they mean but I am sure they mean something."

One of the documents had a list of hospitals and a bunch of numbers.

"T4, scan everything from page to page."

"Aren’t you taking them all?" T4 asked. Why scan something that one was going to carry away.

Chi Lian was busy putting everything in the safe back in the exact same order as she had found them.

"Why are you putting them back?" Muyang asked as well. He was just as puzzled as T4.

Chi Lian looked up at him and answered, "Right now, we don’t know the extent to which this family is involved with that organization. I am also the only enemy they have in this compound, if their documents go missing, I am sure I will be suspect number one especially because they just tried to have me assassinated."

"That’s true." Muyang agreed with her words. Indeed, she would be suspect number one in case anything happened.

"We should not warn them, we should investigate their dirty deeds deeper and then flip the rug out from beneath their feet." She suggested.

Immediately, Muyang took out his phone and started taking pictures of all the documents in the safe as quickly as possible.

Chi Lian touched the upper part of the safe and found something taped to it.

"What’s this?" she asked.

She pulled hard and her hand came out with a flash drive. Wasting no time, she plugged it into the device T4 gave her just for this specific purpose and all the information from the flash drive was downloaded onto the device.

When it was finished, she taped it back up carefully.

"I am done." She told Muyang.

"Almost." Muyang answered.

Every document he finished was handed back to her and she placed them exactly where she had found them. They left the basement the same way they had found it, with everything in its place.

"What about the jewels and the other stuff? Should we put them back too?"

"Hmm." She nodded.

Old tiger was quite angry at the aspect of leaving this family with their probably ill-gotten wealth but he knew that the new goal was bigger. If the Chu’s were related to the Aoi organization, stealing their wealth would not be enough. Not even their lives would be enough to pay for the misery they had caused.

He looked at spider whose fists were clenched. He looked unwilling to leave the house without causing harm to some of them but old tiger held him back.

"We are going to get them all." Old tiger assured him. "Not tonight but soon, trust in the boss."

They followed Muyang and Chi Lian out and returned to the Chi family mansion. Tomorrow, a deeper dive into that family would begin.
