Chapter 263: Poor mare

Chi Lian was dropped off outside Wajiu farm by the cab driver and she lurked around the farm gates for a distance for a while, trying to figure out a way to get herself inside without bringing too much attention to herself.

Wajiu farm was a private horse and cattle farm, not just anyone could go in and out of it. Since she had come here without a plan she was stuck for the moment.

"T4 do you have a plan?"

This had been an unplanned trip so she had not shown up with a plan.

"I have been eavesdropping on the farm administrators and apparently they are expecting a veterinary doctor at any moment. If you can get in there first you will be able to check on the horse without drawing suspicion." T4 gave her a game plan.

There was a restaurant next door so Chi Lian went in and asked to use the bathroom. In there, she disguised herself better this time.

She looked like a brown haired middle aged woman, with some wrinkles around her eyes. She dressed herself up in baggy brown cargo pants, a t. shirt and a vest. She took off her watch and put on a cheaper one.

She even put on a cheap wedding ring and packed some gear, medicine and equipment that T4 said veterinary doctors used.

T4 faked a business card for her from the veterinary hospital the farm usually used and he canceled the appointment with the real hospital.

"If I find the horse, what am I going to do with it? I can’t just leave it here to be killed off."

It had been bothering her ever since T4 said the horse was going to be killed. The poor thing had done nothing wrong except be a victim of foul play in the move to get rid of Iron Deng.

"Should I order for a moving truck so that you can get the horse out of here?" T4 asked.

She agreed immediately without hesitation. She had all that land which the emperor gave her, one little horse would not take up too much space. She already had four dogs, one cat, and six cows and now she was planning to add a horse. It would really be a house full, all that was missing was poultry and a pig.

"At this rate, I am about to become a real farmer." She mumbled.

When she left the restaurant, the waiter who had allowed her to use the bathroom was quite confused, only one woman had gone into the bathroom and she was young and beautiful. When did this middle aged woman go past him?

Chi Lian gave him a generous tip and thanked him. Once she left, the waiter rushed into the bathroom just to be sure but he found no one inside. He was really confused, had the other woman disappeared into thin air?

But looking at two hundred Yuan tip in his hands which he had received without doing any work, he shrugged and returned back to his seat.

Chi Lian confidently showed up to the front gate and showed the security guard her identification card and she was allowed inside.

"Sir, I am looking for the stables, could you point me in that direction." She asked politely.

The old kind guard decided to take her to the stables personally. On the way, he asked her a few questions about herself.

"Ma’am, I have been working here for fifteen years and I know every vet. You must be new to the hospital."

She almost tripped over a stone when he posed that question but quickly she composed herself and answered.

"Yes, I have only been with the hospital for a month. They sent me in to look at a sick horse."

"Aah, the new horse that showed up a few weeks ago. The horse has not been right ever since it showed up, it could barely eat and it’s always lethargic. The poor horse has been throwing up and growing thinner with each passing day. I am surprised that the farm owner allowed it to be brought here, from all signs the horse is on its way to the grave. I thought they would find a doctor for the poor thing but no one has come by to see it until you."

The old security guard was really sad as he explained the sad plight of the horse.

"We are here," the security guard bought her to an old barn and left her there.

The barn was built out of wood; perhaps it was once beautiful but now it was old, weary and moldy. It seemed to be abandoned because there were no other animals in the barn but the poor horse.

Chi Lian approached the stable where the horse was being kept and pushed the short door wide open. The poor horse was on the laying down in the hay, neighing softly and weakly.

She put down the medicine box that she was carrying and gently approached the horse. "Hey buddy," she caressed it on the head. It was a brown and white mare; it could have been beautiful if not for the fact that it was pitifully thin now.

The horse pitifully neighed and lifted its head to receive her touch.

"Oh you sweet thing." She said. "How could they just abandon you in here?"

The stall smelled really nasty, it was had probably not been cleaned for a few days now. Nobody cared about this horse.

"T4, can you scan it and see how it’s doing?" she asked. She was not a real doctor after all.

"Host if you take some blood from it, I can have it analyzed immediately for whatever the horse was poisoned or infected with."

She got one of the syringes and drew some blood and sent it to her storage.

Then she took an apple from her storage and tried to feed the horse but the poor thing was unwilling to eat.

"The mare is pregnant host, I am afraid the little one in its belly is about to die as well. The mother was injected with a strong mixture of adrenaline and Inophores mixed with mercury. Whoever did this was really ruthless."

"Oh no," she gasped. It was one thing to harm the mare but a pregnant one!! "T4, how do I save it? Can I give it the full health capsule; will it have any side effects on the baby?"

She wanted to rescue the horse immediately and as she asked, the capsules and a bottle of water were already in her hands.
