Chapter 244: Babies first time to skate
The ice rink filled with other families, couples and children just as Chi Lian imagined it would be. The little squeals of excitement could be heard from all corners of the place as people had fun.
Mei-Mei was as excited as Chi Lian predicted she would be. The little girl was vibrating with tons of energy, she was in her father’s arms and already, she was wiggling, trying to free herself so that she could go and play.
"I told you this place would be fun." Chi Lian said to Muyang smugly.
"Yes you did." Muyang indulged her by smiling and not telling her she had just said those words four times since they arrived.
"Should we eat first or play?" she asked eagerly.
She was eager to skate; she had not done it in a really long time. Chi Lian was a winter girl, she enjoyed every aspect of the cold weather that most people hated. For her, it was the season to cool off and let off some steam. If she could, she would be skating outside in the cold wind right now.
The burning energy provided by the serum was a bonus, she was just as eager as Mei-Mei to start playing.
"Well, the children ate something in the car so we can play for a while." Muyang answered.
Chi Lian led the way to the entrance of the skating ring, "Four tickets please two adults and two toddlers." She said to the attendant who was letting people in.
The attendant was a young adolescent boy who looked to be very bored, judging by his lack of enthusiasm and interest in the skaters. He was more interested in the computer in front of him than anything else.
"Children under the age of five don’t skate from here." He said in a dull voice.
Chi Lian’s energy dimmed. If the children were not even allowed on the rink, she had no business there either.
"Uhm, can we just skate while carrying them for a while or is that not allowed?" She asked him.
The boy’s head stayed glued to the computer screen and he ignored her.
"Host there is another rink in the next hall where children under five can skate with their parents." T4 stepped in helpfully.
Chi Lian looked at the attendant who had not even mentioned that fact to them. His poor customer care was surely resulting into losses for the owner of the rink. He was such an unserious character.
Wasn’t part of his job information provision?
"You should quit if you don’t like your job." She told the boy.
The boy looked at Chi Lian once and then his eyes went back to the computer screen.
Unable to stand by and watch her being snubbed, Muyang stepped forward and glared at the boy.
"Hey, what do you think you are doing?" he asked in an angry but soft voice.
Chi Lian shook her head and told Muyang, "Let’s go." If this was her business, this boy would be out of a job before the night ended. She could also have made a scene but there were people around, others were waiting to buy tickets after them and moreover, Muyang and she were the CEO’s of companies. They had images to maintain. It was better to walk away rather than ruin a good day.
She looked at the boy once more, T4 had checked and he was not using the computer to study or do anything serious, he was playing games. It was such a shame that someone else, an adult was out there looking for any job while a boy like him who had a job was just playing around.
"Should I complain about him to the owner? I know the family which owns the rink." Muyang said.
"No, I am sure someone has complained about him before. With lack of customer care like that, I don’t believe that the owner is unaware of his faults. Anyway, it’s none of our business who they employ and what losses they make at the end of the day because they sent a boy in to do an adult’s job." She replied.
Whoever collected the tickets also collected the money. Why was a fifteen or sixteen year old boy collecting money in the first place? He was probably related to the owner, it was the only explanation she could come up with.
"Are we leaving to somewhere else?" Muyang asked.
"Why should we?" Chi Lian responded. "We are simply going next door; there is an ice rink for parents with children under five."
She was not going to let a little boy ruin her good mood and plans to have fun.
The ice rink next door was less crowded but a lot more noisy. The music playing here was basically for toddlers. Even the food carts were all designed to attract the attention of little children. They had everything from ice cream to cotton candy and other sweet treats.
As their family passed by, people turned to stare especially at Muyang. In that neon green outfit with his height and looks, he certainly stood out.
"What a beautiful family." One woman commented.
"With the quality of looks the parents have, I wouldn’t expect anything else than beautiful children."
"The son looks like a mini version of the father."
Different comments went around when they entered the rink. Chi Lian smiled at each positive comment and compliment that was showered upon them.
"See," she told Muyang, "I told you we would be the best dressed people here. And we automatically stand out as a family."
Muyang had no choice but to sigh. He really wasn’t trying to stand out. But he did smile when someone said little monk was his little version.
In the rink, special trainers were teaching first time parents how to help their young ones become steady on the ice. The ice rink was set up with cones to help the children navigate their way around it. There was a group of parents who were also fist timers, they were holding their little one’s hands and guiding them gently.
Chi Lian and Muyang joined that group immediately, with Muyang teaching little monk and her teaching Mei-Mei. They had tried to hand the babies over to a trainer but Mei-Mei cried and refused to go with the stranger.
Teaching the children was like watching a child walk for the first time; it involved a lot of stumbling and falling but eventually the babies picked it up slowly.
Muyang and Chi-Chi had to be very patient and encouraging to their children.
When the babies skated even for an inch without stumbling, they would applaud and clap excitedly as if they had just received a degree in something.
Mei-Mei especially loved being praised by her parents and being the center of attention.
If she moved one inch, she would shout " Mummy see, daddy see."Once they clapped she would sit down.
Only two bodyguards had followed them here and they were relegated to the duty of photographers for the moment so at home, the elders got to enjoy the first babies skating moment.
The old master and his wife had vowed never to miss a single moment of the children’s lives because they had missed their birth and the first two years.
They were fully satisfied watching these pictures and videos. Of course, the old master was using the pictures to show off to his friends.
