Chapter 218: So much to do
Muyang was dragged out of the bedroom by the ear unwillingly by the old madam. "You think you are such a charmer, haven’t we told you to give Chi-Chi and the children some space?" the old madam tugged on his ear even harder.
Muyang was so much taller than his grandmother, she was a small woman, but he could not use force to disengage from her. Instead, he obediently bent his head and allowed her to drag me out while he claimed, "Grandmother, I was not doing anything."
"You were not doing anything, yeah right, I saw your mouth all over her."
"Grandma I really just took her breakfast and we discussed business." He explained aggrievedly. He bent down further and looked at his grandmother with puppy eyes.
The old madam scoffed. Did he think she was bind? Discussing business with their lips pressed together.
"You can fool Chi-Chi with that look but you cannot fool me. How many times, did you sneak out of the house in your teenage years and give me that same look when you returned in the morning? I am immune to it now." the old madam refused to let go of the ear.
Muyang’s gaze caught Wenzhe’s eye and he tapped his watch. After that, Wenzhe coughed twice and approached the old madam.
"Old madam, the young master has a meeting with the Mingshan group representatives in one hour. I am requesting that his punishment be deferred until later." He said humbly hoping that the old madam would really pity him because the meeting was factual and it was very important.
"Hmph," the old scoffed and let go of Muyang’s ear, the tip was red and it was slightly itchy.
Muyang rearranged his suit and composed himself. He could not believe that his subordinates had seen him in such a state.
"Grandmother, you can’t fight true love." He said dead serious before striding out of the house at a fast pace hoping that his grandmother would not come running after him.
"Aah, that cheeky brat." The old madam laughed. "I just want Chi-Chi and Lil Monk to bond for a week, the psychologist said it was a good move. After that he can have Chi Lian all he wants. I am sure he is going to sneak into the house to see her tonight."
Her husband looked at her and asked, "Lil Monk?"
"Oh, Chi Zimo said it was cooler if we shorten it from little to Lil. Husband, do I sound cool when I say it like that?" She asked with her eyes glittering excitedly.
"Uhm, yes, my wife is the coolest." The old master instantly answered. He even hugged his wife and pinched her cheek softly.
The old masters assistant looked down and turned his head away from them. Did they have to behave like that here, in the full view of all their employees?
But the old madam was right; Muyang did sneak into the house that night and slept in the same bed with Chi Lian and the children.
The next morning, because she had missed a good number of days without going to work, she decided to go into the office. Of course, the children went with her.
She had already spoken to Wenli who made significant changes to her office. There was a separate partition with one big bed, a television and plenty of toys for the children.
When she arrived at the building, its then that she realized that in all her plans, she had not considered establishing a daycare for her employees in the building. Now that she had two toddlers of her own, it quickly moved to the top of her list.
When she entered the building, pushing a double stroller, all eyes were on her. She could hear the whispers from all around.
"The CEO has twins."
"I thought the picture was doctored but it’s true, a dragon and phoenix pair."
"Since when are her children twins, I am so curious to know."
A few employees quietly shot pictures and shared them with their colleagues.
Chi Lian could not help but be thankful to Qi Qing who had reminded her to cover the visors. Had she not done that, everyone would be staring at them already.
In her office, she took the children out of the stroller and placed them in a sofa. Wenli quickly littered with toys of all colors, shapes and sizes. Little monk was not interested in such childish toys, he immediately reached for the Rubik’s cube which Chi Lian had placed in the chair.
"Good morning Boss." Wenli eagerly greeted.
"Good morning Wenli," she answered. "What’s on my schedule today?"
Wenli opened a tab and handed it to Chi Lian. "You have a meeting with the American representative of the Morgan group, you have been pushing it for a week now and they have been incredibly patient but boss, it will ruin your reputation if you keep doing it."
"Call him up and schedule the meeting for twelve and prepare an apology gift." She said.
Wenli nodded and noted that order down. Then she said, "You have been trying to recruit a female executive director for the network, one showed up. She has been voluntarily working in the news room as an editor. I allowed her to do it because I wanted to test her abilities."
"And what do you think?" Chi Lian asked her.
"I think she is good but she used to be an employee of HTV in B city. I don’t know why she decided to jump ship, she could be a spy. I figured you would know better if you met her."
"Then send her in after you leave." Chi Lian suggested. "Unless I have another pressing meeting."
Wenli shook her head for no. "You have no pressing meeting but your second brother has asked me to allow him meet you the moment you come in."
Chi Lian was confused. What did Chi Rui want that he could not tell her from home?
"By the way," Wenli took an envelope out from the small pile of papers she was carrying. "Principal Wang submitted her resignation letter five days ago. She said she is already old and she cannot abandon the children at the orphanage to live in the capital. She wanted to meet you but I asked her to wait because of what has been going on. For now the show ’missing’ has no host."
Chi Lian took a deep breath. Just being in the office for less than an hour was already stressing her, there was so much to do. There was a reason why she never took over her parent’s business in her last life. Running a company was hard work. You had to think for thousands or hundreds of people whose livelihoods depended on you. That’s why she wanted an executive director who could deal with the television side of things while she relaxed, raised her children and became an expert paparazzo.
"Boss, should I send Gu Xixi in? Wenli asked. "She is the female candidate for the ED position."
Chi Lian nodded and Wenli left the office.
