Chapter 160: She could be our daughter.
Chapter 160: She could be our daughter.
She stepped closer and smelled the orchids, trying to memorize there scent and embed it into her mind. There was a small card in the flowers which she picked up and read.
"Congratulations on your move.
P.s. Me and you, through it all. Everything will be just fine." It read.
She did not have to guess to know that it was from Muyang. Who else would send her such beautiful flowers with such a meaningful message? But what did the words on the note mean?
Did he have an inkling as to what was going on?
"How many times do I have to remind you about his big genius brain?" T4 asked. "The look on your face after that memory of your egg donation hit you last night must have made him put two and two together."
"So does this mean that even if it’s true he doesn’t mind?" she asked T4 with hope in her voice.
"I think that’s a conversation you need to have with him." T4 suggested.
It was a conversation that she was dreading to have. She did not even have confirmation of the fact that Mei-Mei was hers biologically but the idea alone was thrilling and terrifying. When Muyang decided to be with her both of them knew that Mei-Mei was adopted. How much would things change if she was actually hers for real? Could Muyang accept her and her child if the child was hers but had a different biological father.
"Just send him a message and find time to talk to him privately." T4 said.
She pulled out her phone and sent him a message, "I love the flowers and the panda which has claimed ownership over my desk. Thank you so much. Date tonight?"
"There, now all I have to do is patiently wait for his reply."
She sat the panda in one of the sofas in her office and set to work. Every few seconds, her eyes would inevitably move to her phone hoping that he had replied.
However Chi Lian would not have been so worried if she knew that Muyang was struggling with certain facts of his own.
After leaving the Chi family home last night, he had done some thinking on the way home. The look on her face when her youngest brother mentioned that someone could have used her egg illegally was a direct admission of guilt that she had quite possibly donated an egg before.
If she really had and Mei-Mei was hers coincidentally, did that change things for him? Could he love the little girl knowing that she was the product of his woman and another man? He looked down at the little girl who was sucking her thumb and playing with the buttons of shirt with her free hand.
His hand caressed her hair and she looked at him, smiling with love and trust in her eyes. It felt as if his heart could melt from that look alone. My daughter, a voice in his head said. She is my daughter. It repeated. If she really was the daughter of the woman he loved then so be it. He and Chi Lian were planning to build a future together; they could face anything thrown at them as long as she was with him. But he needed to be sure so that he could protect her and Mei-Mei if the other shoe dropped in future.
"Wenzhe," He called.
The partition was lowered and Wenzhe replied, "Yes young master."
"I need you to run a DNA test." Muyang said.
Wenzhe was surprised, how many DNA tests was he going to run? In a space of a few months, this would be the third one. "On who young master?" he asked curiously.
"Mei-Mei, I need you to run another DNA test immediately. I need the results tomorrow."
"Eh, but why young master?" Wenzhe blurted, "Is someone claiming that the little miss is not your daughter? Young master, I can assure you that it’s a lie. Whoever is making such a claim is lying to you because I personally run that test without your knowledge. The young miss is your biological daughter one hundred percent. Those are the exact results I sent to the Chairman and the old master. You didn’t even to fake the results, she is your biological daughter." He emphasized.
Muyang felt like his heart was about to explode after hearing what Wenzhe said. What did he mean by that statement? The results sent to his family were not fake!!!
"Wenzhe, what are you talking about?" he asked sternly.
"I am telling you the truth young master; I personally dropped off your hair and the young miss’s hair and saliva to the lab. I also personally picked up the results and checked them. I still have a soft copy on my phone if you want proof." He responded irrefutably. "Is someone accusing me of faking the test?" He asked in an outraged voice.
"Calm down." Muyang told him. However he himself was feeling the opposite of calm. His emotions were turbulent and stormy. If the test was not faked then the little girl in his arms was his daughter. His biological daughter!
He could feel his heart expanding in a panic. Was it really possible, but how? He wondered. He had not been intimate with any woman during that time frame. And he certainly did not know Chi Lian in the years before Mei-Mei was born.
The only place with his DNA in terms of sperm was a private hospital where his grandfather took him to prove that he was fertile and he had not decided to reproduce because of infertility. His grandfather had assured him that the sample would be destroyed after the test. Later on, his grandfather told him that he donated the sample to a scientific lab being funded by the empire to study the difference in genius and normal sperm with the hopes of producing more useful children who would lead the development of the empire in future.
Did someone steal his sperm for personal use? He needed to investigate immediately. But first he needed Wenzhe to run the DNA test again. This time round, it was for both him and Chi Lian.
His heart fluttered at the prospect of both of them being Mei-Mei’s real parents.
"My God!!!!" he exclaimed to himself in shock. A lone tear made itself down his right cheek involuntarily. He suddenly started laughing randomly like a maniac.
He had been determined never to have any children of his own. He never even wanted to marry before he met Chi Lian. Just as fear set in that she mothered a child with someone else the universe set in and corrected the narrative.
He was not the old Muyang anymore. He wanted Mei-Mei to desperately be his and her daughter even if it happened because of circumstances beyond their making or desire. If it was found to be true, he would donate one hundred million to the poor. He made this vow to Buddha in his heart.
"Young master, are you okay?" Wenzhe asked worriedly.
"I am okay," he laughed disbelievingly; "I think everything is going to be okay."
"Do you still need to me to run the DNA test?" Wenzhe asked tentatively.
"Yes, rush it. If it’s possible to receive the results tonight, then I want them tonight. I want you to run my sample and Chi Lian’s sample."
Wenzhe was shocked again. Why was he checking if the young madam’s DNA and that of the little miss was a match.
"Young master, did someone switch the baby and give the young madam the wrong child in the hospital?" he blurted.
