So that’s what it’s called, soul high! she thought. She wondered who came up with the name and why they called it that.

"Tam, stay away from that stuff. Not only is it expensive but it’s also addictive and it will get you on the bad side of grim reapers and the deities, most importantly." Caramel offered some advise to Scarlet, unsolicited.

She had not told the succubus that she was a grim reaper. The woman thought she was just another creature of the underworld with more privileges and wealth.

"What do you know about it?" Scarlet asked her.

Caramel shook her head. There was actual fear in her eyes and she said, "For real Tam, stay away from that stuff."

Scarlet faced Caramel with cold eyes and said, "I just need to know how it’s being sold and who is selling it. I pay you for information Caramel and it’s what I expect. So, tell me everything that you know about soul high."

The succubus sighed and sat down. "I don’t know, it’s like this big secret that nobody talks about because apparently there is a big shot behind it. A human once offered it to me and...."

"Wait, did you say human?" Scarlet intervened with an urgent question.

Caramel nodded, affirming her words.

"He is a young lord, Piker, Pacer, Poker....I don’t remember the name. All I recall is that he talked a big game about his sexual prowess but when I got him in bed, he barely lasted twenty minutes."

The succubus seemed to be disgusted by the failure of that young lord to perform, Scarlet thought.

"So, he tells me that he can go for a full day as long as he takes his special medicine. He pulls out that soul high and he offers me one. I thought it was a drug like the others on the market so I took one and it was great...." Caramel closed her eyes as she recalled the sensation.

"Are you sure you are not addicted to it?" Scarlet asked her. She appeared to be in ecstasy at the memory. To her, it didn’t look like the succubus was against repeating the experience.

Caramel snapped out of her memories and shook her head wildly. "I am not stupid. I haven’t walked among humans for the last six thousand years by making poor choices. Every demon gets a chance to feast on human souls when a world has been abandoned by it’s deity.

Or when a world has become so sinful that the human souls are tainted by evil and the deities don’t have a use for them. I know the taste of souls and I know what happens to demons that become addicted to that taste.

There are three common ways you go out and get sent back to the dark corners of the underworld. It’s either an exorcist’s cleansing, a gate keeper or grim reapers scythe and lastly a deity’s strike.

None of those options is attractive to me so I stay away from the stuff which will get me into trouble."

"Stuff like soul high." Scarlet said, for confirmation.

"Yup, no soul high for this sexy succubus." Caramel replied. She moved her hands over body in a seductive manner and winked at Scarlet.

Scarlet rolled her eyes, not even tempted in the least bit. She continued with her questioning. "Who sells it?"

Caramel sucked on her tongue and made a loud noise as she shook her head. "No idea. I am not interested in asking questions that will make me a target, not even for you. I can eavesdrop all you want but I don’t make myself stand out. We demons also kill each other for different reasons, that’s why most of us stay clear of one another."

Scarlet didn’t want to push and create too much suspicion. So, she stood up and tossed a bag of energy crystals at the succubus. Ten, that was the usual price she paid for information.

Caramel sniffed the light purple bag like a junkie and licked her lips. "This stuff is better than soul high. I don’t know which reaper you are fucking to get your hands on them but I sure you do hope the relationship lasts longer than most relationships between reapers and demons or other creatures. So...demon...harpy....serpent....nymph....troll.....what are you?"

"None of your business." Scarlet answered.

She walked to the window and opened it, intending to exit that way. But she stopped and asked one final question which Caramel had aroused in her mind.

"Grim reapers and demons, really?" Somehow, the idea didn’t sit well with her.

Caramel smiled smugly and replied. "Oh, yeah. Especially my kind. You would be surprised by the things some reapers are willing to do." She looked quite proud as she shared that tidbit of information.

Scarlet couldn’t help asking another question. "Don’t they hate each other? No, more curious to me is the grim reapers of this world. Has any of them slept with your kind?"

"All grim reapers sleep with my kind at least once in their life times. Some are curious, some are tempted and some are in love. There are no grudges between us and them." Caramel didn’t say yes but she didn’t so no either and gave a general response.

This kind of answer would easily make one draw the conclusion that the reapers of this world had possibly in fact slept with sex demons.

Scarlet looked away from Caramel with a sneer on her face. Caramel’s words could not be blindly trusted and all she had told Scarlet was to be doubted. As a grim reaper, she had not slept with any sex demon so that generalization which technically included her was false. She leaped out of the window, vanishing into the wind on the cold early dark night.

Caramel rushed to the window and looked outside curiously but Scarlet was gone in a just a few seconds. "She must be a harpy." The succubus told herself.

She walked back to the table and picked up the energy stones Scarlet paid as always to maintain the ruse that they had engaged the services of Caramel in one way or another. The succubus returned to the ground floor with a smile on her face, hoping that this business did not dry up.

Scarlet on the other hand teleported back into her room with many thoughts in her mind. Like one, she needed to find the human Pol___, something that Caramel couldn’t recall. Two, she needed to return to the Blue star immediately. Justin would need her support right now so she would have to teleport in from the Blue star to continue this investigation.

The last thought on her mind was a question. Had Ramslin ever engaged the services of Succubus? She was asking because the company he worked for, Great entertainment had been named in one of the documents which Alex had stolen from the pharmaceutical company. Alex was still digging to see how the two tied together since the details were thin.

However, it made Scarlet’s mind turn in an uneasy way. Was it a coincidence or was she over thinking? Also, did she need to bring this to the attention of the three deities now or later?
