Chapter 566: Slumber party.

As promised, Scarlet arranged a slumber party for the night of Carolyn’s last day as an official single woman. There was one bedroom in the castle which Justin and his friends used during his slumber parties. It was was a very large room, whose walls were covered with animated images.

It had no beds so mattresses were laid out on the floor. Because this was Justin’s room, which he valued as much as Scarlet valued her sunrooms, she didn’t touch anything or change the decorations. All the plushies and toys were neatly arranged rather than moved out.

The colorful blinking lights were left up, and the glowing stars on the ceiling which glowed as they played twinkle twinkle little star, a lullaby which was played on the sleep overs were also untouched.

But since it was an adult sleep over, Scarlet brought out wines and some snacks because she knew that they would sleep late. There would be no end to the conversations during the night.

At around eight, she sent Justin off to join his little uncle Gregor and aunts Halley and Illa at his grandparents place where he would be spending the night.

A few minutes after he left, the older Su siblings started to arrive, Fey and Elroy being the first.

Scarlet and Carolyn were already inside the room, sitting on the bed which was closest to the large windows of the room as they gazed out at the rain with glasses of wine in their hands.

They turned their heads back to see who had arrived.

"Oh, the blonde twins are here." Carolyn said with a snicker. She and Alix slapped their hands together, in a high five.

That was what they used to call Elroy and Fey when they were younger, something which always incensed Fey greatly. The reason for the name calling was because Elroy had experienced some stunted growth at some point during their childhood and Fey caught up with him in height and size. They were both naturally close as one was born after the other, both had blonde hair and both had their mother’s nose and lips. Back then, Elroy had a more androgynous appearance than he did now.

It did not help that they used to go everywhere together and were as thick as thieves which resulted in Scarlet naming them the blonde twins, and it caught on with everyone else in the family.

When Elroy experienced a growth spurt at fourteen and bulked up, being called twins came to a natural end. But not completely, apparently because it had been resurrected.

"Are we doing that again?" Elroy asked in a sarcastic voice.

"You guys are mean." Fey told them.

Scarlet and Carolyn laughed and tapped their wine glasses.

Fey and Elroy found a spot on one of the beds and Fey switched on the television. Elroy got up to bring some wine and chips for them both.

"What do you want to watch?" Fey asked him.

"A sports themed movie." he replied.

He carried a big platter of snacks and drinks from the table where Scarlet had arranged all sorts of snacks.

"No, we don’t wanna watch sports." Carolyn shouted from where she was.

Fey sneered, looked in Carolyn’s direction and said, "Too bad you were not clever enough to claim the bed in front of the television. I guess the blonde twins will be charge of tonight’s entertainment."

Elroy looked at Scarlet and Carolyn and he stuck his tongue out childishly.

Carolyn huffed in disbelief and she looked at Scarlet.

"Do something." she told her.

"What, beat them up?" Scarlet asked her.

Carolyn nodded.

The doors opened and Adler and Beord came in, each holding the hand of his girlfriend. Immediately, four faces frowned at the two men.

"No, absolutely not." Scarlet refused strongly.

"I concur." Carolyn said.

"Me three." Fey raised her hand.

"Four," Elroy added his voice to the rest.

They had agreed that this would be a siblings slumber party just like they used to have when they were children. Carolyn had made it extremely clear that she did not want anyone’s significant other there. Everyone else had adhered to her request with the exception of their two eldest brothers.

"Oh come on.." Beord whined.

He squeezed Lanta’s hand and looked at them with a plea in his eyes.

"No." Carolyn said sternly.

"She was just sending me off, she is not staying." Adler on the other hand let go of Arya’s hand.

"Don’t mind me, I am not here to stay, I have a shift in the library." Arya made it clear.

She kissed Adler on the cheek, waved at everyone and left the room.

Beord twisted his lips and moved them around awkwardly. He really didn’t want to part with Lanta. She had been away from the Blue star a lot recently. She had said that things were chaotic on her home planet and she might be spending more time there in the future. He wanted them to spend as much time together as possible now.

While he was mulling over the agony of letting his girlfriend go for the night Scarlet resolutely looked Lanta in the eyes, and said to her, "Leave, this is family time."

She communicated into Lanta’s mind directly so that the humans did not catch on.

"I wasn’t planning on staying." Lanta answered.

"So why come?" Scarlet asked her.

"I was hoping to borrow your hound for something and I figured he would be where you are." Lanta answered.

"He is in the underworld taking care of some personal business." Scarlet told her. "What do you want with him anyway?"

Before Lanta could answer, Carolyn stood up and said, "I might as well go and sleep at my place." She was filled with an irrational anger suddenly. She would be spending most of her time in the capital after the engagement. This one night would probably be the last slumber party they would ever have together as siblings. It had been sixteen long years since the last one.

She wanted to spend it with her siblings, talking, playing games, laughing and reminiscing not watching Beord and his girlfriend act lovey dovey.

Suddenly the air in the room became somewhat weird and the others looked at Beord. This was going to end with either him or Carolyn leaving, which was rather foolish, they all thought.

"I am not staying either." Lanta announced. "I just wanted to give something to Scarlet but I will leave it with the maids." She let go of Beord’s hand and exited the room.

As soon as the door closed, Adler said to Beord, "You just had to make bridezilla mad."

"Hey." Carolyn warned Adler in an angry voice.

"Bridezilla, ha-ha-ha. It suits you perfectly." Elroy laughed at Carolyn.

"What is bridezilla?" Beord asked them as he found a spot to sit.

"Can we not antagonize Carolyn tonight? She is already stressed about the engagement and we are here to make sure that our sister is stuffed full of happy thoughts, sunshine and smiles...." Scarlet had to stop talking because Adler who had inched closer to them slowly was squeezing himself between her and Carolyn.

"What are you doing?" Scarlet asked him.

The room was big. There was more than enough space for everyone to sit and sleep comfortably.
