Chapter 555: Playful children.

"Shouting my name like that will never make your problems disappear any faster." Lythia appeared immediately.

Just like the reapers who were walking around in her palace, she was surprised to see Scarlet glowing like a sun. Her appearance caused the spiritual monkeys to scream and run away. Brightness like this was unnatural in the underworld. It was as if they were being paid a visit by the god of the sun or the god of light.

Lythia whisked Scarlet away and they appeared in another part of the underworld, a village from it’s appearance. It was a lively place, pups were running around everywhere. Unlike the lonely river village which had a river, and the Dark rune village which had a waterfall, this place was had only trees, so many of them. The occupants were living like elves in a thick green forest with intertwined trees.

It was as if the dwellings grew from the forest itself, blending into the environment.

"Just how large is the underworld?" Scarlet gasped. How had she not seen or heard about this place?

"Welcome to the grove village, dwelling of the midwives to the supernatural in the underworld." Severus told her.

"I lived here for the first two hundred years of my life." Flan told her.

The female hound was greeting everyone left and right, trotting happily.

Lythia teleported them all to the middle of the forest, to the large house which took up the central position. The curved wooden doors which swung open, inviting the guests inside. The beauty of the house was really breathtaking. It was if they were stepping inside a warm secret garden that held the secrets of nature.

Flowers of different types grew along the walls and the roof. Energy crystals provided light within the house and little pups nestled on tree branches, sleeping on their backs with their little round tummies exposed.

"Awwww, how cute." Scarlet said in an excited voice when she saw them. She couldn’t wait to touch and pat those tummies.

"Hound pups have always been cute but very naughty." A voice said. It came from the woman in a golden robe who strolled into the room.

Severus and Flan bowed their heads politely, greeting the woman. Lythia took a sit while Scarlet just stood there awkwardly.

"Your children are being playful I see." The woman approached Scarlet and touched her belly. "Let’s see, which one of you is up to mischief?"

Scarlet stepped took a tentative step away from the woman.

The woman held on to Scarlet’s waist and kept her in place with an unnatural force. "Don’t move unless you want to spend the rest of your pregnancy looking like this."

Scarlet looked at Lythia and the goddess nodded, giving her a reassuring nod.

"This is Arcissa, daughter of the goddess Rai of fertility. She has been the leader of the mid wives of the underworld from time immemorial. You can trust her, she knows what she is doing." Lythia told Scarlet.

The woman let go of Scarlet and lowered the hood of the golden robe. Scarlet, saw her face for the first time and she blinked twice, as her beauty awed her.

Long dark blueish- green curled her, nearly pale skin and unnatural blue eyes. Her face was small and perfect and her lips had a natural pout to them.

She was smiling at Scarlet warmly but the pain she was causing her, was immense.

Scarlet had been so enthralled by Arcissa’s beauty that she didn’t notice when the woman put her hands on her stomach again. This time round, her touch came with a sharp pain which caused her to wince and the children to move.

"It hurts, it hurts." She moaned out.

Her green flame was unleashed and Arcissa backed away immediately. She didn’t just back away, she took five steps back and looked at Scarlet warily.

"What is that?" she asked Lythia.

"Put the flames away Scarlet." Lythia, rather than responding to Arcissa spoke to Scarlet.

"I didn’t mean to." Scarlet said.

It was a natural instinct, her go to move when she was feeling threatened in any way. The pain which Arcissa caused her had brought it on.

"Well, whatever it is, keep it away from me the next time you return." Arcissa told her. "You need to visit me once every month so that we can do some adjusting. Reaper children need a reminder every once in a while to behave otherwise they will do as they please. These ones in particular have a great deal of strength and one....let’s just do the monthly visits, okay. You can return for now."

Scarlet had a few questions that she wanted to ask, starting with the reason for the hesitation when Arcissa was talking followed by what she meant by reminding the children to behave.

However, Lythia opened up a portal and thrust Scarlet and the hounds through it.

She looked at Arcissa and asked, "What did you see?"

Scarlet meanwhile came out in her bedroom at the other end. She stumbled around a bit before finding balance and stabilizing herself.

"Tch! she didn’t have to throw us out like that." she muttered to herself. They could have teleported from the underworld on their own. Scarlet had been planning to pat and carry a few of the pups but the chance had been denied to her.

It would be so nice if she had pups like that to play with. Even the children would be happy to grow up alongside them.

Suddenly a random idea bloomed in her mind and she looked at her two hounds. A menacing smile formed on her lips, giving her the appearance of a plotting villain.

Severus had watched a few soaps with her and he was familiar with that look. It was a look a villain had just before they struck.

He stepped away from Scarlet, staring at her carefully.

"What are you thinking?" he asked.

Scarlet took a slow step closer to Severus but the hound moved backwards and leaped onto the bed.

"Are we playing a game?" the confused Flan asked them.

"She is plotting something." Severus told Flan.

"Seby dear," Scarlet called him and smiled. Her eyes had narrowed and their was a glint in her eyes.

She used the dreaded nickname which his mother used when she wanted something from him. Severus felt his body shiver in fear. Scarlet looked devious to him in that moment.

"No," Severus blurted out.

"I just want you to do me a small favor." She pinched her right hand index finger and thumb together to express how small the favor was.

"I don’t want." shook his head.

"Seby," Scarlet softened her voice. "Think about it, just consider it. Don’t you think that pups are cute? You and I cannot wrangle five children on our own. If we have five pups to watch over them, your pups, not some random ones then we can have perfect help. We can grow our families together you and I."

"I was wrong, you have not yet come to your senses." he told her. "Stop talking nonsense and go for your press conference."
