Chapter 554: You are glowing.
She went to the bedroom to change after he left. As she did, she revised her speech in her mind. She had to sound sure of herself and show no weakness.
There would be many questions raised the moment she declared that there was a cure for the darkness. Thankfully, professor Sham would be there to handle the medical terms and explanations.
Severus and Flan teleported into the bedroom as she was changing. The two had spent the night in the underworld because they were not in the castle when she woke up. She wondered what they had been up to but she didn’t ask.
As long as they were not bickering and all was calm, she was good.
Severus, however, rotated around her, observing her from below as if he was seeking for something.
"What?" she looked down briefly and then looked in the mirror and stated parting her hair.
"You seem to be back to your senses." Severus said.
"When did I lose them?" she retorted.
He sat down on the fluffy white carpet and replied, "When you hypnotized him. There is no way you were in your right mind when you did that."
"You shouldn’t do that again. Even though it has worked this one time, it will be risky if you do it over and over. You will be tempted to do it every time you have the slightest disagreement because it seems so easy but no good relationship can thrive if one partner deceives the other in order to control them." Flan advised her.
Severus distanced himself from Flan. The more she talked, the more she sounded like his mother. She had clearly been an excellent student at the Ruby institute of relationships.
"It didn’t work." Scarlet told her.
She applied some pink lip gloss to her lips, puckered up and kissed the air.
"What didn’t work?" Severus asked her.
"Hypnosis, I failed to hypnotize Esong. So, you don’t have to worry about me using hypnosis to get my way at all times or control him because I am either not skilled at it or he has a strong soul."
She was sitting in a spinning chair so she spun herself around and looked at the two hounds that looked surprised and added, "Alternatively, he is not fully human, which is ridiculous, right?"
Severus scratched the carpet with one of his paws as he thought while Flan shivered and tried hard not to freak out. A grim reapers hypnosis spell had failed to work on a human!! It was unheard of.
Sometimes, some humans whose divine senses were active managed to get glimpses of them when they were reaping and they had to be hypnotized to make them forget what they had seen.
Hypnosis was not just used by grim reapers but all the other creatures, including the gods. If hypnosis couldn’t work then the gods and everything supernatural might as well reveal itself to the humans and get it over with.
"You should hypnotize him again." Flan suggested.
Severus and Scarlet turned at the same time to look at the female hound. Severus’s mouth was wide open, expressing his surprise. For Scarlet, it was her eyes which had widened.
The female hound had just advised Scarlet not to hypnotize Esong. She had now turned around and thrown her advise out of the window.
"Wow!" Severus exclaimed.
"She is one of us now." Scarlet giggled.
Flan had been very faithful in adhering to the rules when she had just arrived but apparently they had ruined her.
"I am suggesting this for her own good. We should make more of an effort to dig up who he is." Flan defended herself.
The question of the humanness of her husband was one which had been left unanswered for too long. If they could get answers before the children arrived, it would be for the best.
"I don’t know, and I don’t think I care anymore." Scarlet turned around and faced the mirror once more.
Flan came around quickly because she needed to look at Scarlet’s face to this conversation to make sense. Why would she not care? This was a very serious issue. If the man couldn’t be hypnotized, could smell her when she was a reaper and acted as if he could he could see the gods, then he must have noticed that they were not ordinary dogs as well.
They were always teleporting in and out of the castle casually because they were sure that no human could see them. What if he could?
"Why don’t you care?" Flan asked her.
Scarlet looked down at the hound and said, "Maybe it’s because I had a good night’s sleep or maybe it’s because I have decided to accept the fact that he is human and I cannot stop his fate.
I heard this thought after I realized that the hypnosis had failed. I cannot stop the flow of water anymore than I can stop fate from being fulfilled. Besides, there are other important things I must give my attention instead of obsessing over his potential death.
At the end of the day, right now, he is alive and that’s what matters. I should just enjoy the time I have with him while I still have him. If he is something else, we will deal with it when the time comes. The three of us can handle anything, I believe."
She stood up and dusted off her dress, which had no dust actually but some habits were like reflex and she could not get rid of them.
"How do I look?" she asked the hounds.
She was wearing a body hugging medium length leather dress with long arms and a pair of black heels. Her hair was parted in the middle and the bouncy curls were thicker than usual.
"You are glowing." Flan told her.
"Thank you." she answered with a smile. "I have this new skin care routine called immortality."
"You are glowing." Flan said, louder than before.
Scarlet snickered and laughed happily. Even though Flan was laying it on thick, she didn’t mind being praised extravagantly but it was only proper for one to play coy.
She touched her cheeks and smiled brightly but said, "Damn Flan, you don’t have to exaggerate."
"No, she means that you are actually glowing, turn around." Severus told her in an urgent voice.
The urgency and the look in his eyes made her realize that perhaps something was off. Scarlet turned to the mirror and almost scared herself. Her skin and her eyes, looked like a golden rising sun. Her black hair had also changed and it was white like Frost’s.
She was glowing!!! Really glowing the way angels were depicted by humans in movies.
"Why am I glowing? What is happening to me?" she asked in a panicked voice.
"Underworld, now." Severus grabbed her and they teleported away.
"Lythiaaa!!!" she roared all the way.
