Both Ezrah and Lythia were very interested in knowing what he had to say. It sounded like he had quite the interesting story to tell.

"That’s the thing," Frost said. "All the reapers who took on the mission to capture the demon failed and after a while, no reaper wanted to take on the task anymore.

In fact, there was a sort of silent agreement among warrior reapers that only level eight soul reapers and those beyond would take it on.

One day, I was in the human realm with my guards and some soldiers in search of unclaimed territory when I first saw him, Esong Wu. At the time, I had no idea who he was but in the next few minutes, I would find myself indebted to him."

Ezrah tilted her head forward and Lythia raised her eyebrows in wonder. For a grim reaper to be indebted to someone, they had to have done something great.

"Do tell," Lythia said, vey eager to hear more.

Frost exhaled and nodded. "I had no idea that I had landed on the same world where the seven armed demon of chaos was hiding out. I was wandering around curiously, testing soil samples and what not when the demon grabbed me. It took me by surprise, I could not even defend myself when it started sucking me dry."

His right hand moved to his neck as he recalled the death grip that demon had around his neck and it pulled the power out of his soul.

It had ripped into him like a sword slicing a human body into pieces, one bit at a time. Thinking about it still made Frost’s heart race.

"So what happened?" Lythia asked him.

She shook him out of his daze and asked loudly because the curiosity was eating her up. Obviously, Frost had survived otherwise he would be with the others, rejuvenating his soul.

"Believe it or not, Esong Wu showed up suddenly and pulled it off of me." Frost’s voice took on a tone of wonder as he continued to narrate the unbelievable ordeal. He lifted it as if it weighed nothing and beat it black and blue. I had never seen the seven armed demon cry and beg for mercy but at his hands, it did. What confused me the most was the lack of supernatural power about it. He was using human strength or so it appeared."

"That’s impossible___, I mean...is it?" Lythia was very confused.

Unless their suspicions were correct and Esong and Nyx were one...or two. It was still unclear right now.

"So what happened next?" Ezrah asked him.

"I don’t really know, I cannot possibly begin to explain it myself. The demon vanished, and he walked away as if nothing had happened. I went after him but he was gone as well, disappeared into thin air and there was no energy to follow.

That night, news was everywhere on the forum that the seven armed demon had been captured and returned. The gate keepers did not reveal the identity of the grim reaper or reapers who returned it."

He shrugged and shook his head. "The whole thing was perplexing to me. I mean, it had to be him. I asked the gate keepers five times but got nothing from them. All I wanted to do was thank the reaper who saved my life but I didn’t know his name and his face was new to me.

Anyway, two days later, I met him and his men as I was about to leave that planet. I approached him with excitement but he looked at me blankly, as if he had never seen me before. I checked his body and soul only to discover that he was human.

I couldn’t reveal what I was so I introduced my human self to him and he did the same. I never set my eyes on him again until Scarlet’s party."

"Is that everything?" Lythia asked him.

She was excited and in a hurry to go and share this news with her fellow deities. Things would be easier for Scarlet and children if the father was a grim reaper.

Unless, he was something else, doubt creeped into her mind.

He could be a life angel for all they knew, or a soldier for the god of war. Or maybe he was a messenger for the god of wind. They needed to snatch him up and figure what wo he truly was before telling him about the children.

As far as she knew, Scarlet had not yet told her husband that she was pregnant. It was information she was saving for when she successfully crossed her third human trimester.

With the information which Frost had provided, they could determine where he stood on all this.

Lythia vanished into the darkness she had come out of without saying a single word.

Her departure gave Frost, Ezrah and every other creature that had been within their vicinity deep relief. Ezrah even dramatically fell onto Frost’s body and leaned against him. Her hands and legs were trembling.

"I don’t know if it’s just me but I feel like I have been through the wringer and back." she said and sighed loudly.

Frost, shoved Ezrah of his body and turned around to face her. The meekness with which he had addressed Lythia was gone and the anger he had before towards Ezrah returned with a punch.

"How could you!!" he spat out.

"How could I what?" Ezrah responded.

She actually looked lost as she stared at him with a blank look in her eyes which equally had questions.

"You__," he pointed at her and sighed in anger. "You went to Lythia and talked to her about our friends."

Ezrah scoffed and said, "Friend."

Frost stared at her so she corrected him, "Friend, Scarlet is our friend. Her previously presumed human husband is not our friend. Our loyalty Frost, is to our friend Scarlet first."

"He saved me!" Frost stretched his arm and bellowed the words out.

He stretched his head and neck as well, and all the his veins in his body pulsed with anger. He had been looking for an opportunity to repay Esong for saving him and it had come but he could not even keep the promise which he had made to the man thanks to his blabber mouth friend.

"He told me to keep my mouth shut about his affairs at the party. His eyes were glowing red when he told me that and I said I would do that. I made him a promise."

Ezrah stepped up to him and poked him in the chest as she also yelled, "And you made a promise to the underworld to protect and defend it against all dangers, perceived or real. Now I apologize for making you break your promise but it was not my intention.

All I am trying to do is make sure that Scarlet, me, you, Hawk and the rest of us are all safe. Open your eyes Frost, the three gods have been meeting a lot more frequently than usual. Scarlet has not just one hound but two, protecting her.

There were deities on her world, not just one but eight on my count. It is not freaking normal. And then there is her husband, also, not normal.

Whatever is going on, Scarlet is caught right in the middle and I will fulfill the promise I made to Lythia to protect her. Trust me please, and ease your mind."

Frost shook his head and teleported away from Ezrah.
